Pierre( Peter ) Chanel, who was a missionary priest that was martyred in Futuna. Peter Chanel was initially well received by the island's king, Niuliki. But then, he believed that Christianity would take away his perogatives as king. So he ordered six of his best warriors to dispose the catholic priest. These are the names of those warriors: Musumusu, Filitika, Umutauli foki, Musulamu, Fuasea & Ukuloa. Musumusu took an axe and clubbed Chanel to death on April 28, 1841. Before he died. His last words were, " It is good that I may die, So that Futuna may believe." On the day of his death. Darkness in the skies, soon followed . For a whole month, there were clouds shaped like a cross in the skies. Eventually, most on the island converted to Catholicism. Musumusu himself converted and helped build the first catholic church in polynesia and, as he lay dying of age.
