Birds Fly (Whisper to a Scream)

"Birds Fly (Whisper to a Scream)", given the reversed title "Whisper to a Scream (Birds Fly)" in some markets, is a song by the British band The Icicle Works. It was released in 1983 as the first single from the band's 1984 debut eponymous album The Icicle Works. The song was written by the band's lead singer, Ian McNabb and produced by Hugh Jones.

UK releases

The recording was initially released as a single in Britain in June 1983 as "Birds Fly (Whisper to a Scream)" on the Situation Two label. This initial release hit #2 on the UK independent charts, and scraped the lower reaches of the overall UK national charts at #89.

After The Icicle Works' next UK single "Love Is a Wonderful Colour" hit #15 on the UK charts in late 1983 and early 1984, Beggars Banquet Records re-released "Birds Fly (Whisper to a Scream)" in March 1984 with a new cover and B-side. This re-release climbed to #52 in the UK.

U.S. release

The group's U.S. label Arista Records refused to release the record unless some changes were made. The track was remixed slightly in order to remove a brief spoken-word overdub on the opening bars of music. (The woman performing this intro was identified only as "Mariella" on the original Situation Two single sleeve.) Also the song title was reversed, becoming "Whisper to a Scream (Birds Fly)". Finally, Arista shortened the band's name to "Icicle Works". With changes the song reached #37 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart and #34 on Cashbox's singles chart in the summer of 1984.

Mr Probz

Dennis Princewell Stehr (born 15 May 1984), better known by his stage name Mr Probz, is a Dutch singer, songwriter, producer, actor and rapper. He is known for his raps, songs and choruses in both Dutch and English. In 2013, he released the song "Waves", which was remixed in 2014 by Robin Schulz, becoming an international hit.

Career

2010–13: The Treatment

In 2010 Mr Probz was nominated for a BNN/State Award in the category "Best Artist". In 2011, Mr Probz had a Dutch single, "Meisje luister", in collaboration with Kleine Viezerik. It reached #1 on the FunX Hip Hop Chart. On 16 September 2013, Mr Probz released his debut album The Treatment for free through SoundCloud. He also released the album on iTunes. The album peaked to number 12 on the Dutch Albums Chart. The album includes the singles "I'm Right Here", "Turning Tables" and "Gold Days".

2013–present: "Waves"

In November 2013 he released the single "Waves", becoming a top 10 hit in the Netherlands. The song was also charted in Australia, Belgium and New Zealand. The song was remixed by German DJ and producer Robin Schulz, it was released on 4 February 2014 in North America and 7 February 2014 in Europe. The remix propelled the song to greater success, topping the charts in Austria, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, and peaking within the top 10 of the charts in Denmark, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, and the United States. He featured on 50 Cent's single "Twisted", which was released in May 2014. "Nothing Really Matters", was released in September 2014 to critical acclaim. He featured on Professor Green's single "Little Secrets", which was released in December 2014. In 2014, Mr Probz collaborated with Dutch DJ Hardwell on a song titled "Birds Fly", which was included on Hardwell's debut album United We Are, released in January 2015.

United We Are

United We Are is the debut studio album by Dutch big room house producer Hardwell. It was released on 23 January 2015 through Cloud 9 Music and Revealed Recordings.

Singles

"Young Again" was released as the lead single from the album on 17 October 2014. The song reached number twenty-three on the Dutch Top 100, entered the tipparade of the Belgian Singles Chart, it also charted in Austria.

Hardwell

Robbert van de Corput (born 7 January 1988 in Breda), who performs under the stage name Hardwell, is a Dutch big room house and electro house DJ and music producer. He was voted the World's No. 1 DJ on DJ Magazine's annual Top 100 DJs poll in 2013, and again in 2014. Hardwell is known for his live sets at major music festivals such as Tomorrowland and Ultra. The video streams of his performances on his personal YouTube channel have collectively garnered more than 100 million views.

Hardwell first gained recognition in 2009 for his bootleg of "Show Me Love vs. Be". He founded record label Revealed Recordings in 2010 and his own radio show and podcast, Hardwell On Air in 2011. He has since released six compilation albums through his label, as well as his own documentary film. His debut album, United We Are was released on January 23, 2015.

Early life

Robbert van der Corput was born on the 7th of January 1988 in Breda, Netherlands, where he grew up as well. He started learning classical piano and DJing. Van der Corput was first inspired to become a DJ after watching a documentary about DJs on the Dutch MTV. He was signed to his first record label and he began DJing at reputable clubs across the Netherlands. As a kid, he enrolled at a music-oriented school and the Rock Academy. Three months into the Rock Academy, he was advised to quit and to pursue a career in music immediately, changing his name to Hardwell. He often cited fellow Breda native, Tiësto, as his biggest inspiration and mentor.
