Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use. A tribute that I've been thinking about for quite a while, dedicated to the ever-likeable, elegant and handsome actor with breezy easy-going onscreen charm, Don Ameche (1908-1993). The son of an Italian father and an English-Irish mother, as a young man he was encouraged to become a lawyer, but became entranced with the stage while a boy and he found his way from stage to radio, and soon to 20th Century Fox in the 1930s. A quiet but generous man in real life, Ameche often gave away large amounts of money to the less fortunate, and as a workaholic his wife and children didn't get to see as much of him as they would have liked. Although a professional and a perfectionist on the set (and he rarely saw any of his films), he was also known to be a mischievous practical joker, as his costars often discovered. Although he was rarely cast in any comedic parts, it's kind of obvious to me when I watch him that Don would have excelled in those kinds of roles. Either way, he's great in everything I've seen him in. There's just something about that endearing baritone voice and those puppy dog brown eyes. Ameche was popular with ...

Alice Faye & Don Ameche
Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for fair use for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Fair use is a use permitted by copyright statute that might otherwise be infringing. Non-profit, educational or personal use tips the balance in favor of fair use. A tribute to Alice Faye (1915-1998) and Don Ameche (1908-1995), two great friends who made an adorable screen team. They starred in six movies together, the first being "In Old Chicago", followed by "You Can't Have Everything" (both 1937), "Alexander's Ragtime Band" (1938), "Hollywood Cavalcade" (1939), "Lillian Russell" (1940) and "That Night In Rio" (1941). Alice said later that Don was always fun to work with, and that he was a practical joker, and she got some revenge on him during the making of "Hollywood Cavalcade" in which she made sure he got a pie in the face. "I made six films with Don Ameche, and in all of them, my voice was deeper than the plot," she once stated jokingly. Alice's much anticipated return to the big screen after her retirement in 1945 in the remake of "State Fair" (1962), turned out to be something of a disappointment for her when Don, who was slated to costar as her husband in the picture, was unable to take part due to other commitments. There's just something about Don's puppy dog eyes and the way he looks at Alice that is just so sweet. Not to mention the fun chemistry between them. So enjoy ...

Credits and The Finale! I love Betty Grable being coaxed to dance, then she does not hold back at all in that tight red and gold dress! She's so hot there! To be her in that dress, in that moment, doing a conga... what a fun moment that must have been!
