Opening Day - Riding The Tide - Norfolk VA
This is me and my friend riding the tide light rail on opening day. We got on at the newtown road stop and took it to the MacArthur Center and rode it back. August 19, 2011 The Tide, Virginia's first light rail system, opened for service in Norfolk on August 19, 2011. It extends 7.4 miles from the Eastern Virginia Medical Center complex east through downtown Norfolk and adjacent to I-264 to Newtown Road. Eleven stations provide access to dining, shopping and entertainment as well as the Norfolk State University and Tidewater Community College (Norfolk) campuses. There are four park-and-ride lots where parking is always free.

HBLR Light Rail/Tram Around Jersey City, USA (new york tram) 2012
The Hudson--Bergen Light Rail (HBLR) is a light rail system in Hudson County, New Jersey, United States. Owned by New Jersey Transit (NJT) and operated by the 21st Century Rail Corporation, it connects the communities of Bayonne, Jersey City, Hoboken, Weehawken, Union City (at the city line with West New York), and North Bergen. The system began operating its first segment in April 2000, expanded in phases during the next decade, and was completed with the opening of its southern terminus on January 31, 2011. The line generally runs parallel to the Hudson River and Upper New York Bay, while its northern end and its western branch travel through the lower Hudson Palisades. HBLR has twenty-four stations along a total trackage length of just over 21 miles (34 km) and serves over 40000 weekday passengers. There for plans for expansion through extensions and additional stations. The project was financed by a mixture of state and federal funding. With an eventual overall cost of approximately $2.2 billion to complete its initial operating segments, the Hudson--Bergen Light Rail was one of the largest public works projects ever in New Jersey. The system is a component of the state's smart growth strategy to reduce auto-ridership and to revitalize older urban and suburban areas through transit-oriented development.

17 Miles in Just 78 Minutes! Light Rail vs. Reality in LA
Everyone loves light rail - especially if they don't actually have to rely on it for actual transportation or pay the full cost of what it takes to schlep a rider from Point A to Point B. To get a better handle on what folks love about commuter rail, Reason.tv sent comedian Watt Smith for a train ride from Los Angeles International Airport to Burbank. During the 17-mile, 78-minute (!) journey, Watt chatted with fellow riders to find out if commuter rail is indeed better than driving or taking the bus. And to help separate transportation myths from road realities, we've provided facts via pop-up windows that explain just how appearances can be deceiving when it comes to questions about the true costs and efficiency of rail transit versus other modes of transportation. All of our information is taken from official sources provided by Los Angeles's Metro here and here. About 5 minutes. Produced by Sharif Matar and Zach Weissmueller. Research by Tim Cavanaugh. Newark Light Rail
I've moved into the thick of things with a full slate of practice and media portfolio building projects for my new company, Third Place Media. The rough schedule is to start with a handful of small and medium sized photo and video based pieces around New York City and Northern New Jersey over the next few months, followed by a concentrated burst of material from a trip to China in Japan in October and November, all focused on various aspects of transit oriented development and social phenomena in public spaces. The first out of the gate is this short film from a joyride on the Newark Light Rail. I wanted to keep things simple and just get my hands around the technical challenges of filming transit infrastructure and equipment, and shooting from moving carriages. While in Tokyo, one of the items on the agenda is to film neighborhoods abutting the Arakawa Line, in the outer wards on the northern side of the city. The Arakawa is the last surviving line of the Tokyo Toden, a network of streetcars that once counted 41 lines and 214km of track weaving through the metropolis. Riding the loop from Newark Broad Street to Grove Street in Bloomfield and back was a good opportunity to test for kinks on a similar type of vehicle, while also seeing sides of Newark that were new to me. Boston Light Rail - Green Line 2012
The Green Line is a streetcar system run by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) in the Boston, Massachusetts area of the United States. It is the oldest line of Boston's subway, which is known locally as the 'T'. The Green Line runs underground downtown and on the surface in outlying areas. With a daily weekday ridership of 237700, it is also the most heavily-used light rail line in the country. The line was given the green color because it goes primarily though an area called the Emerald Necklace of Boston. The four branches are the remnants of a once large system of streetcar lines, begun in 1856 with the Cambridge Horse Railroad. The Tremont Street Subway carries cars of all branches under downtown, and is the oldest subway tunnel in North America, opened in stages between September 1, 1897 and September 3, 1898 to take streetcars off surface streets.-

The Arctic Light
Follow me on https://facebook.com/TSOphotography for more photos, videos & updates.
This was filmed between 29th April and 10th May 2011 in the Arctic, on
the archipelago Lofoten in Norway.
My favorite natural phenomenon is one I do not even know the name of, even after talking to meteorologists and astrophysicists I am none the wiser. What I am talking about I have decided to call The Arctic Light and it is a natural phenomenon occurring 2-4 weeks before you can see the Midnight Sun.
The Sunset and Sunrise are connected in one magnificent show of color and light lasting from 8 to 12 hours. The sun is barely going below the horizon before coming up again. This is the most colorful light that I know, and the main reason I have been going up there for the last 4 years, at the exact
same time of year, to photograph. Based on previous experience, I knew this was going to be a very
difficult trip. Having lost a couple of cameras and some other equipment up there before, it was crucial to bring an extra set of everything. I also
made sure I had plenty of time in case something went wrong.
If you can imagine roping down mountain cliffs, or jumping around on slippery rocks covered in seaweed with 2 tripods, a rail, a controller,
camera, lenses, filters and rigging for 4-5 hour long sequences at a time, and then
having to calculate the rise and fall of the tides in order to capture the essence - it all proved bit of a challenge.
And almost as if planned, the trip would turn out to become very
difficult indeed. I had numerous setbacks including: airline lost my
luggage, struggling to swim ashore after falling into the Arctic sea: twice, breaking lenses, filters, tripod, computer, losing the whole dolly rig and controller into the sea, and even falling off a rather tall rock and ending
up in the hospital. As much as I wanted to give up, the best way Out is
always “Through”. I am glad I stuck it through though because there were some amazing sunrises waiting. At 1:06 you see a single scene from day to night to day which is from 9pm to 7am. Think about that for a minute.. 10 hours with light like that.
I asked the very talented Marika Takeuchi to specifically compose and
perform a song for this movie, and what she came up with is absolutely remarkable. Thank you very much Marika!

Lights Ibiza II
Using the new generation of cameras I've Been Able to do this timelapse, a video made up of long-exposure pictures, joined together to show the movement of stars, clouds, shadows, all making a real acceleration of what happens in Many hours , to see Them in seconds.
99.9% of the video it s been done at night time, With The help of LED lamps, to illuminate rocks, trees etc ... When There Was no moon, I used Exposures from 30 to 40 seconds, Taking About 2:30 hours to do a sequence, But It's better When you see the stars and constellations.
I have also used the moonlight to do shorter exposures because the moonlight can be quite bright, depending on which phase is on. Some of the shots look like they have been done during the day. When you shot under the moonlight the exposure can be from 15 to 8 seconds and can take up to 1.15 hours, so I could shot the moviment of the shadow over the rocks, the moviment of the clouds during the night …
The pictures were all made With A Canon 5D Mark II and Canon Used lenses 16-35mm, Canon 24-70mm, Canon 24mm, Most Of Them Were Made at F/2.8, ISO 1600, 3200, 6400.
All the pictures are real, it looks like They Are too many stars. This is Because the human eye can not catch much light at night. The camera movement Has Been made by two types of sliders, the "Dynamic Perception" and the "Pocket Slider" where the camera moves A Few millimeters photo by photo, Creating this movement. This is all controlled by a small computer the MX2 Arduino Controller.
Most of These Have Been Made with shots the company of my friend Alejandro Iborra, sharing the Same hobby, Knowing That going out at night and spend long hours in very remote places and apologetic to get Into it, is some kind of risky business, Sometimes I Had to go out on my own and i got some fright.
And of course thanks to my wife and Alejandro Iborra's Wife for Letting us enjoy this hobby.
All pictures are made in the island of Ibiza, this is my birth place, a wonderful place to take pictures in their most beautiful spots, caves, beaches, mountains etc ... Where You can discover a different side of Ibiza than most people have never seen .

Ok folks, this is it. Here is my first video project.
It is a timelapse video of the Northern Lights. All sequences are shot in or close to Tromsø in Northern Norway.
I have spent over 6months collecting footage for this, I have shot approx 50.000 stills to choose from in making this video. A goal for me has been to try to preserve the real-time speed of the northern lights, or come as close as possible, and present it the way I experienced it, instead of the northern lights just flashing over the sky in the blink of an eye. It may work on other time-lapse videos with fast moving clouds and sunsets etc, but with the northern lights in focus, it should be presented in it's true speed to reflect her beauty, imo. In the video I have put together a collection of slow moving auroras in the woods, over the mounatins, in the city, in the foreshore, reflected in the sea, with some of the most spectacular and strongest auroral outbreaks seen in many years. Included here is a coronal outbreak, in which I am particularly happy to present, since it is very difficult to get on stills, even worse on "film".
I got a fantastic soundtrack made for the video by local musical talent in Tromsø; Per Wollen. A Huge thanks goes to you Per obviously! The audio track "Aurora in the sky" can be found on iTunes.
Also, with two small children at home under 2 years, it goes without saying I could never have done this without the fantastic understanding and help from my girlfriend. This has been an insanely time-consuming project. Both hours after hours out in the cold, but also all the hours in post-processing during late nights has led to a severe lack of sleep. And although you always feel like there is something you could have improved, even slightly, before releasing, you come to a point when you just have to finish. And that time is now.
Thank you so much Veronica flickr.com/photos/velectronica/ for letting and helping me finish this project!! Love you! :)
Also, I would like to apologize to many of my friends for being so occupied the last months. Looking forward to spend more time with you all now.
A huge thank goes to Jay and http://dynamicperception.com/ for their awesome timelapse gear who made some of the sequences in this video possible!
Per and I would also like to express our feelings for the tsunami victims of the great people of Japan.
The video shown here on Vimeo is 1280x720. It may be also available in 1920x1080 and Digital Cinema HD 4K. Contact me for higher resolution. Video may not be used commercially or public without permission.
Footage has been prepared for viewing in sRGB color space since this is the space most people use. Hence wide gamut displays may display colors wrong, especially green ones which the aurora mostly appears in, since the most clipping in color space when downscaling to sRGB is done in the green color area.
Hope you like the video, more info about me:

Uniting timelapse and astronomical photography, we can captures the true beauty of the landscape and the night sky in one video, playing in a real but accelerated movement of the heavens. What happens in hours or days we can see it in seconds. What the eye cannot see because of darkness, we can capture and display as a video with colors and nuances impossible to catch during the day.
All videos are real, landscapes, stars, constellations, Milky Way etc. have been recorded using imaging techniques and astronomical special systems (cranes and rails) to achieve the effect of motion of the landscape and sky in the same sequence.
All scenes are recorded at night, the only light that illuminates the landscape is that of the moon and sometimes a few small foci.
My sincere gratitude to the Parque Nacional del Teide (Tenerife) for permission to filming in restricted areas, and the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias in their observatories and telescopes.
The music used is the unique theme "La Búsqueda de Ianna" Epic Soul Factory. http://www.jamendo.com/es/track/732520
The scenes was recorded in the Parque Nacional del Teide (Tenerife) and the Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos (La Palma). Where they join one of the best skies in the world with a unique landscape.

Phoenix Light Rail Sword Fight Bushido Kendo Tachi Blade Samurai
The way of the samurai was resurrected last week when a mysterious, as yet unidentified passenger pulled a full-length samurai sword to break up a fight on a Phoenix light rail train. According to KTAR, the fight broke out around 2 am on Oct. 6th near Central Avenue and Camelback Road (although the video was uploaded to Youtube on October 13th.) In the videotape, already a viral hit, two younger males appear to jump another male, kicking and punching him repeatedly in the head. Suddenly, a white male in a baseball cap and headphones appears on the right hand side of the video, an unsheathed katana sword pointed steadily at the attackers. CLICK HERE TO SEE FULL VIDEO (WARNING: OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE) Juan Vargas was taping the incident just inches from the samurai vigilante. "I was like, 'What the hell, who carries a sword?'," Vargas told Fox 10. "As soon as that guy pulled out the sword, everybody was like,'Whoa'. It got really quiet and everybody was like 'Okay..okay, I guess don't do nothing to get him mad or don't upset him," he said. As the Daily News points out, the dangerous martial arts weapon is generally not seen on public transportation. But " whether the man is a true master of Bushido — the code of the samurai — or simply someone who has seen one too many Akira Kurosawa films is a moot point. After all, his intimidation tactic worked." As the sword-wielding passengers inches forward, the two men who instigated the attack flee the light rail car. Although the ...
