Gotta vote? Go here: OFA.BO Today, at a grassroots event in Green Bay, Wisconsin, President Obama laid out the closing argument he will make to the American people in the final days of the election. The President is fighting for the same things he's always believed and run on -- that this country cannot succeed without a growing, thriving middle class. In the decade before President Obama took office, middle-class security was undercut by the same top-down, failed economic policies that Mitt Romney is now promoting. While Romney thinks that means 'change,' the President will continue to move our country forward to real change that boosts the middle class and creates a stronger future for all Americans.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has spoken out against the verdict handed to controversial Russian punk band Pussy Riot, saying he believed the time they spent behind bars before and during the trial was punishment enough. "I would not like to substitute the judge, but in my view, the punishment they have already had -- as they have been imprisoned for a considerably long time -- is quite enough for them to think it all over", Medvedev said at a United Russia Party meeting in the Russian city of Penza. "The continuation of their imprisonment seems to me unproductive. A suspended term would be enough, if one takes into account the period they spent under extremely inconvenient prison conditions", he added. Last month, a Moscow court sentenced three members of the feminist punk band to two years each in a medium-security prison on charges of hooliganism motivated by religious hatred. The six months the three women have already spent in pre-trial custody will count as time served towards their sentences. In the verdict, the judge said that band members Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, Maria Alyokhina and Ekaterina Samutsevich showed flagrant disregard for church parishioners and the fundamentals of the Orthodox faith, with their performance in Christ the Savior Cathedral in Moscow.

na stunning move, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg endorsed the re-election of Barack Obama almost solely because of the issue of climate change. In a piece on the Bloomberg news web site, he said that the destruction caused by hurricane Sandy had led him to his decision. He wrote: The floods and fires that swept through our city left a path of destruction that will require years of recovery and rebuilding work. And in the short term, our subway system remains partially shut down, and many city residents and businesses still have no power. In just 14 months, two hurricanes have forced us to evacuate neighborhoods — something our city government had never done before. If this is a trend, it is simply not sustainable. Our climate is changing. And while the increase in extreme weather we have experienced in New York City and around the world may or may not be the result of it, the risk that it might be — given this week's devastation — should compel all elected leaders to take immediate action. Bloomberg has up until now been harshly critical of both candidates, refusing to endorse either. Perhaps more surprisingly, Bloomberg very directly castigates Romney for reversing his position on the topic, saying that his previous stances about climate change were driven by free-market, centrist ideas. He digs up a quote from when Romney was governor of Massachusetts, and signed on to a regional cap-and-trade plan to reduce carbon emissions. " "The benefits (of that plan) will be ...

www.euronews.com It was supposed to be gigantic Michael Jackson 'Thriller' themed party to celebrate Halloween in the Spanish capital. But the fun turned to tragedy when four young women were killed in a stampede as partygoers attempted to leave the Madrid Arena. Witnesses say the panic began after a flare was thrown into the crowd. Others described a scene of chaos, with lots of screaming and some people fainting. "There was a staircase. Then all of a sudden there was a rush of people and some of them stumbled; and there was a crush," described one man who attended the party. Another man said: "They did not say anything about the stampede inside the club. There was a moment when the music stopped, but nothing else. They didn't announce that something had happened." A third man who was inside the arena was also unaware of the tragedy: "We didn't notice anything. The party continued as normal and when the music stopped, people left at around 6.00 am which is the normal thing for a party." Local media said the four victims were aged between 18 and 25. Another woman is in a critical condition in hospital. An investigation has begun to determine whether the 12000 capacity venue was overcrowded. Vladimir Putin has proved to have a fair singing voice and a taste for patriotic melodies./// NEWS YOU WON'T FIND ON CNN Vladamir Putin is possibly the most popular leader in Russian history, although you'd never know it by reading the western media. According to a survey conducted by the Wall Street Journal in November 2007 , Putin's personal approval rating was 85% making him the most popular leader in the world. Putin's popularity derives from many factors. He is personally clever and charismatic. He worked tirelessly to improve the lives of ordinary Russians and restore the country to its former greatness. He has raised over 20 million Russians out of grinding poverty, improved education, health care and the pension system, (partially) nationalized critical industries, lowered unemployment, increased manufacturing and exports, invigorated Russian markets, strengthened the ruble, raised the overall standard of living, reduced government corruption, jailed or exiled the venal oligarchs, and amassed capital reserves of $850 billion. Its interesting to observe to what extent the western media is nothing more than a propaganda bullhorn for the Neocons forces. Putin's personal approval ratings already confirm his enormous popularity, but the western media continues to treat him like he's a tyrant. It is completely incongruous. Russia is no longer up for grabs like it was after the fall of the Soviet Union. Putin put an end to all of that. He reasserted control over the ...

www.euronews.com Radical Islamist group Boko Haram want peace talks with the Nigerian government. The jihadist sect have been engaged in a campaign of violence against the government since 2009. The group has set conditions on any talks. They must be chaired by Muhamed Buhari, a Muslim colonel who once ruled Nigeria, and held in Saudi Arabia. They also want a former governor arrested. Some believe any talks are ill advised: "They never have a right to tell the government what to do because they are terrorists and terrorists have to be detained, not to be released," said one man on the streets of Abuja. The intensity and frequency of the violence attributed to the group has sent shockwaves through the country. In August 2001 the Boko Haram attacked a UN building complex in the capital Abuja killing at least 18 people. Previous peace talks fell through, but efforts to make contact with the organisation have improved since Prime Minister Goodluck Jonathan installed a Muslim colonel from the north, where Boko Haram is based, as security adviser.
