Introversion-Extraversion Primer
Misunderstandings abound around our notions of introversion and extraversion. These terms are household words, but often get misused. This video explains what Jung meant by these terms when he invented them. Chances are, it's not what you expect... Find out more at www.VirtualTypeWorkshops.com where you'll find more online training on psychological type subjects by Master Typologist Vicky Jo Varner, an MBTI Master Practitioner. Postscript The term "extravert" is not misspelled -- this is Jung's preferred spelling of the term. You can read more about this issue on my blog at www.typeinsights.com

How to tell Extraversion from Introversion
More on extraversion and introversion in our basic course: interpersonality.com Extraverts are object-oriented, which means that the extravert's energy flows outward. You can feel this when you're listening to an extravert present or teach, because the extravert is able to throw energy out into the room and engage others quickly and actively. This doesn't mean introverts can't be good presenters or teachers, but it's a whole lot easier for extraverts to work a crowd, because they are energised and motivated by that interaction. An extraverted performer will be so energised by a performance, that they could happily walk back on and do it all again. This is not true of introverts. So for me, the idea of spending time reading, hiking, meditating or just thinking is way easier, than the idea of partying or having to interact, particularly with a lot of people I don't know. As a kid I hated having to even pick up the phone and call people I didn't know. I would avoid making phone calls -- even really mundane ones -- because the idea of cutting into someone else's energetic space and having to deal, in that moment, with whatever energy came back, without the <b>...</b>

Extraverted Thinking - INFP Art
I got the idea to do this from yanghaiying's videos. I figured I'd try and talk out my thoughts as I physically did things, going with the Extraverted Thinking concept (part of being an INFP). I was paying way too much attention to what I was drawing, trying to make it look a certain way instead of just endless wandering with the pen... I got it going towards the end though. I mucked around with the contrast to make the drawings clearer.

Extraverted and Introverted Functions: What's the difference?
More on Cognitive Functions in our basic course: interpersonality.com Often people ask what is the difference between introverted and extraverted feeling, introverted and extraverted thinking and so on - and the simple answer is, one is used in the inner world, the other is used in the outer world. And as strange as it may seem, this is where the similarity ends; they perform completely different roles in the psyche. Likewise, introverted and extraverted intuition are not derivatives of the same function, they have entirely different qualities and purposes. In fact there are no derivative functions in the Psyche -- yet each function is dependant upon all the others. Extraverted functions are how we gather and organise external information; these are our interface with the world outside of us. For introverts and extraverts alike, extraverted functions are the face that we present to the outside world; what others see of us. In contrast, our introverted functions are our core values. We don't share these outwardly with others, except through the vehicle of our extraverted functions. Our extraverted functions serve to fuel and refine our core values; our introverted functions. Our extraverted functions are our interface with the rest of the world. Our introverted functions are the 'take home message'; the subjective understandings and interpretations that we retain from those experiences. More specifically, the extraverted functions perform two roles. The extraverted <b>...</b>
