From Mosques to Palaces, Seeing the Sights in the Middle East
Awash in history and stunning architecture, there is so much to see in the Middle East. Let’s go. We’re taking the trip of a lifetime in this reel. Among our destinations: a kaleidoscopic mosque in Iran that comes to life with vibrant color when the sun shines through its stained glass windows; in Yemen, a palace that is literally perched atop a rock (and not as old as you might think); and a resilient hotel in Lebanon that has survived war and economic depression since it opened in 1874.

Inside the US-Iran Shadow War for Control of the Middle East
Back in March we sent a crew, including VICE Founder Suroosh Alvi, to Iran. We wanted to do a story about a rash of assassinations of Iranian nuclear scientists - most recently Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, head of the country’s nuclear program. We ended up getting unprecedented access, from Tehran to Baghdad, into the sprawling shadow war between the US and Iran for the heart of the Middle East.

The middle east is usually associated with muslims and arabs, but muslim arabs are only a part of the middle east. The middle east is also home to Turks, Persians, Kurds, Jews, Assyrians and many others.
Most of the countries of the middle east are muslim, but Israel is jewish, and Lebanon has a large christian minority. But islam is dividing into two main groups, the sunnis and the shias.
Shia muslims mostly live in Iran, southern Iraq,
Afghanistan, Lebanon, Syria, Bahrain, and Northern Yemen, while Sunni muslims are the most common muslims worldwide.
Iran and Saudi Arabia take advantage of the sunni-shia devide to claim spheres of influence in the middle east, and many conflicts split down sunni-shias lines, such as the Yemeni Civil War and the Iraqi Civil War and the Syrian Civil War
Not all muslims are arab though. Turkey and Iran are definitely not Arab and speak Turkish and Persian respectively. Most arabic speakers are arab, though many non-arabs who live near arabs speak arabic for convenience such as the Coptic Christians of Egypt and Maronite Christians of Lebanon, and the Alawites of Syria.
The President of Syria is a Shia Alawite even though the majority Syria is Sunni Arab, this contributes to tensions in the ongoing Syrian Civil War.
One sunni group fighting in the Syrian Civil War called Daesh or ISIS or ISIL decided to invade neighbouring Iraq and started the Iraqi Civil War and fought against the Shia Arabs, and the Kurds in iraqi Kurdistan.

0:00 Introduction: Cancer rates in the Middle East
0:46 Cancer rates around the world
1:55 Why does the Middle East have low cancer rates?
8:52 Why aren't the cancer rates even lower?
10:40 Thanks for watching!
The Middle East has the lowest cancer rates in the world. Today, we're going to talk about why.
People in the Middle East consume a lot of sugar, and sugar feeds cancer. But, even though diabetes is common in the Middle East, cancer is not.
Countries with high rates of cancer:
1. Australia
2. Ireland
3. Hungary
4. the United States
Why the Middle East has low rates of cancer:
1. Many people participate in fasting (Ramadan)
Benefits of fasting for lowering the risk of cancer:
• Fasting starves cancer
• Fasting stimulates autophagy
• Fasting generates new immune cells
• Fasting helps decrease inflammation
• Fasting increases antioxidant networks in the body
2. Many people consume certain spices with anti-cancer and anti-tumor properties, such as:
• Turmeric
• Saffron
• Cardamom
• Nutmeg
• Caraway
• Cinnamon
• Coriander
Other foods popular in the Middle East that have anti-cancer properties:
• Black seeds
• Olive oil
• Dill
• Sesame seeds
• Dates
3. There is low tobacco usage among women in the Middle East
• Smoking tobacco, chewing tobacco, and vaping are linked to cancer
4. Alcohol is prohibited in most areas of the Middle East
• Drinking alcohol increases the risk of six different types of cancer
Potential reasons why the cancer rates in the Middle East aren't even lower:
• High consumption of sugar and high-fructose corn syrup
• A high rate of obesity
• High rates of people with low vitamin D
• Polymorphism

Chevrolet Lumina
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This article is about the U.S. market sedan and coupé sold between 1989-2001. For the minivan, see Chevrolet Lumina APV. For other uses, see Chevrolet Lumina (disambiguation).
The Chevrolet Lumina is a name used on many vehicles produced by Chevrolet. First introduced for the 1990 model year, Chevrolet used the name on a sedan, a coupé, and a minivan.[1] The sedan replaced the Chevrolet Celebrity, the coupé was renamed the Monte Carlo, and the minivan was both a replacement for the Celebrity station wagon and a completely new vehicle. In 1995, the Lumina Coupé was replaced by the Monte Carlo.[2] In 1997, the Chevrolet Lumina APV was replaced by the Chevrolet Venture.[3] In 2000, the Lumina Sedan was replaced by the Impala.[1]
The third and fourth generation was manufactured in Australia by GM-owned Holden, for export mainly to the Middle East and South Africa between 1998 and 2013.
Starting in 1990, Chevrolet offered a high performance version of the Lumina, the Lumina Z34. In order to enhance its performance it came standard with the FE3 sport suspension package, the 210 hp LQ1 V6 engine shared with the Lumina Euro 3.4 (sedan), the five speed Getrag 284 manual transmission, dual exhaust and four-wheel anti-lock brakes. The Z34 also featured cosmetic changes to go along with the performance enhancements such as unique front and rear fascias, side skirts, a rear spoiler, a louvered hood, a unique steering wheel and sport bucket seats. Performance figures were quite impressive for a front wheel drive V6 engine powered car, with a 0-60 mph (0–97 km/h) time of 7.2 seconds, a 1/4 mile (~400 m) time of 15.0 seconds, a (limited) top speed of 130 mph (209.21 km/h), a 60-0 mph (97–0 km/h) distance of in 153 ft (47 m), and a lateral acceleration of 0.79 g's (7.7 m/s²). A Bose stereo system and automatic transmission, which lowered the horsepower rating to 200 and 0-60 time by a .5 seconds, were optional. The only paint colors available for the Z34 were white, red, black, gray, silver, and light blue. In 1995, the Lumina Z34 was replaced with the Chevrolet Monte Carlo Z34.

The domestic goat (Capra aegagrus hircus) is a subspecies of goat domesticated from the wild goat of southwest Asia and Eastern Europe. The goat is a member of the family Bovidae and is closely related to the sheep as both are in the goat-antelope subfamily Caprinae. There are over three hundred distinct breeds of goat.[1]
Goats are one of the oldest domesticated species. Goats have been used for their milk, meat, hair, and skins over much of the world.[2] In the twentieth century they also gained in popularity as pets.[3]
Female goats are referred to as does or nannies, intact males as bucks or billies; their offspring are kids. Castrated males are wethers. Goat meat from younger animals is called kid or cabrito, and from older animals is simply known as goat or sometimes called chevon, or in some areas mutton (which more often refers to adult sheep meat).
