Buoyancy and Density
Purchase: hilaroad.com Explains the relationship between buoyancy and density using hot air balloons, fish and cruise ships as examples of objects using buoyant force. Includes instructions for calculating the density of a rectangular prism and a liquid Includes a brief explanation of Archimedes' Principle and the role gravity plays in buoyant force. Supports the teaching of these concepts in junior and middle school.

7 Layer Density - Cool Science Experiment
Check out this and other cool science experiments at www.stevespanglerscience.com Everyone knows that vegetable oil and water dont mix. Thats because the two liquids have different densities. Density is basically how much stuff is smashed into a particular area or a comparison between an objects mass and volume. So, the exact same volume of two liquids may actually have different masses, so they would have different densities. Thats why vegetable oil floats on top of water. About Steve Spangler Science... Airspace Rebooted
A visualisation of the northern European airspace returning to use after being closed due to volcanic ash. Due to varying ash density across Europe, the first flights can be seen in some areas on the 18th and by the 20th everywhere is open.
The flight data is courtesy of http://www.flightradar24.com and covers a large fraction of Europe. There are a few gaps (most noticeably France) and no coverage over the Atlantic, but the picture is still clear.
The map data is CC-by-SA http://www.openstreetmap.org and contributors.
This CC-by-SA visualisation was produced by http://www.itoworld.com with support from http://ideasintransit.org

Type Case
The installation Type Case is a low-resolution display with 125 rectangular pixels of different sizes. These are formed from the reflecting light of digitally controlled LEDs, embedded in each section of a European printers’ type case. Due to the standardized fragmentation of its compartments, the density of visual information is decreased towards the objects’ centre. Viewed close by, it is nearly impossible to recognize more than a flicker – however after moving some distance away, it becomes distinguishable, that the lights and shadows give a representation of the latest headlines.
Music: "Comfortable Mystery 4" by Kevin MacLeod
Additional Information:
2010, Installation, printers’ type case, containing one LED in each of the 125 compartments, Arduino, Processing, TLC5941.

[Timbre A-Z] is Short-short animation series
Films are continuously up-loaded on the 26 days.
this movie is special 2min version !
Mirai Mizue is a representative figure of the new generation of abstract animation in Japan. His films have been shown in more than 100 festivals in about 20 countries. His strong obsession towards cells forces him to draw every frame with surprising density. His rhythmical animation overwhelms viewers. Recently he has been trying to step into new territory: minimalistic abstract animation using linear figures.

!!FLOAT AN EGG IN THE MIDDLE OF WATER!! (DENSITY COLUME) SCIENCE EXPERIMENT Crazy Chris shows you how to float an egg in the middle of water, not just on top, but in the middle of water, WHOA! Objective: To understand how density works and how you can change the density of a liquid. Materials Needed: - Cups - Eggs - Salt Step 1) Fill 3 glasses with 250ml of water and place a fresh egg in one of the glasses, watch as it sinks. Step 2) Put 4 tsp of salt into one of the glasses stir it up and place an egg in the water. Watch as it floats. StStep 3) Put 4 tsp of salt into the final glass stir it up and pour out some of the salt water. Now place an egg in the water. Slowly and carefully pour fresh water into the glass of salt water and watch as the egg sinks down till the middle. HOW IT WORKS: Denisty is the amount of space something takes up per volume and when you add more mass to the same amount of space being taken up you can change the density of a liquid. When you drop a raw egg into fresh water the egg doesnt displace enough water making the egg more dence then the water around it. Creating an unbalanced force which sends the egg to the bottom of its container. When you add 4 tsp of salt to 250 ml of water and stir, the salt crystals break down into molecules and and fill in the holes inbetween the water molecules. The solution now has more mass in the same space or volume, which changes the density of the water. When you add the egg to the salt water you displace the ...

As sung to Misery by the Beatles. Art by Mr. Banta's biology classes at Pahoa High in Hawaii. If you would like an album of 35 science songs set to rock classics, go to www.cdbaby.com Density as sung to Misery by the Beatles new lyrics by Ted Banta ©Ain't Yer Music The mass divided by volume is density I know why things float hot air balloons and boats are lifted by a difference in density A helium balloon won't take you to the moon you'll rise to where the sky's the same density If a ship's more dense than water down it goes magma's less dense than cool rock and up it glows in volcanoes get it through your head that Archimedes said that mass divided by volume is density He could find if the king's crown was gold or not He found that it's density was less, and not what it ought gold prospectors can get gold inside their pan the gold remains cause it has a greater density If a ship's more dense than water down it goes magma's less dense than cool rock and up it glows in volcanoes get it through your head that Archimedes said that mass divided by volume is density What is the formula for density? What is mass? What are the units for mass? What is volume? What are the units for the volume of liquids? What are the units for the volume of solids? What must be true about something that floats above something else? How high will a helium balloon rise? When will a boat sink? Why does magma rise up to form volcanoes? How did Archimedes know the crown was not pure gold? Why does ...
