Introducing Widescreen
My YouTube 101 Tutorial: www.youtube.com Want to have your video HD and widescreen? Make sure your output is 720p, ie 1280x720. You're also going to want to compress it so you aren't uploading a huge file - use h.264 at 1500-2500 kbps. For more detailed instructions, click here: www.freddiew.com After you upload, be patient - YouTube needs time to process it before it throws up the "Watch in HD" link. I use Final Cut Pro and a smattering of After Effects when necessary. Music/Sound is Logic. But remember! The program doesn't make your movie for you - if you've got the fundamentals down, you could use iMovie on an old iMac and still rock faces. Stupid YouTube wanting to revert to 4:3 resolution. Sometimes you gotta use some FORCE. Featured in Hong Kong. That's because Hong Kong knows what's up. Chief Armoror Brandon Laatsch and Black Bar Wrangler Matt Arnold once again to the rescue for this one.

Sarah Brightman - Fleurs Du Mal [HD] [Widescreen]
A magnificent live performance by Sara Brightman at the Symphony In Vienna concert. Fleurs Du Mal lyrics: Is it you I keep thinking of? Should I feel like I do? I've come to know that I miss your love While I'm not missing you We run Til it's gone Et les fleurs du mal Won't let you be You hold the key to an open door Will I ever be free? [Chorus:] Les fleurs du mal unfold Comme les fleurs du mal Dark demons of my soul Un amour fatal Been tryin' hard to fight Comme les fleurs du mal Les fleurs du mal inside Un amour fatal All my life I've been waiting for In this perfume of pain To forget when I needed more Of love's endless refrain We live And we pray Pour les fleurs du mal I've lost my way What is done will return again Will I ever be free? [Repeat chorus] Les fleurs du mal Comme les fleurs du mal Un amour fatal Comme les fleurs du mal [Repeat chorus]

Rachel's Song - Blade Runner (Widescreen)
"Rachel's song", composed by Vangelis for the Ridley Scott directed film Blade Runner. The song features on the soundtrack album however was never used in the Film. It can be guessed that the song was going to be used to score Rachel's growing doubts about her identity. The track "Memories of Green," was instead used. The vocals are sung by Mary Hopkin. The Future Sound of London sampled the vocals for their 1996 single "My Kingdom". I have edited a few scenes from the film to show what it might of sounded like if used in the film. I hope you enjoy it!

A Short Animation Inspired by the Works of İlhan Koman
Plato Art Space is proud to present Candaş Şişman’s video dedicated to famous sculptor İlhan Koman produced for the exhibition İlhan Koman: Hulda Festival, a Journey into Art and Science opening on the 22nd September, 2010.
İlhan Koman’s unique design approach in his form studies also inspires contemporary art works. The video installation Flux by young artist Candaş Şişman can be defined as a digital animation which is inspired from the structural features of some of İlhan Koman’s works like Pi, 3D Moebius, Whirlpool and To Infinity... A red circle, which is colored in reference to the red radiators of Ogre, is traced in a morphological transformation which re-interprets the formal approach of Koman’s works. The continuous movement sometimes connotes the formal characteristics of Pi, 3D Moebius, Whirlpool and To Infinity..., as well as the original formal interpretations of the design principles of the works . In Flux, Koman’s design process in the making of the Pi series has been treated as the emerging of a sphere from a two-dimensional circle by the principle of increasing the surface; and that simple direction is re-interpreted in digital medium. Thanks to this, in the digital animation an entirely different form serial that does not resemble Pi yet remaining its design principle can be followed through the flow of a circle to the sphere. As a conscious attitude of the artist, this work is not designed in a direct visual analogy with Koman’s works. During the animation, none of the moments of the transforming form look like Pi or 3D Moebius, however the subjective reading of Koman’s approach can be observed.
With the integration of the sounds of various materials – which Koman used in his sculptures – Flux turns into an impressive spatial experience. Flux, also exemplifies that Koman’s work can be re-interpreted by the analysis and manipulation of form in the digital medium.

Nokta . (Dot .) is an abstract short film project which is an improvisation of organic pieces and themes like power, control and luck. Using low-budget equipment and with the combination of actual camera shooting, 2d and 3d animation techniques, the film alters the reality and physics of the real world with the help of the liquid and dynamic simulations’ impact.
Even though the film is not produced according to the base of Amos Funkenstein’s text on harmony, but the text is a convenient statement for the stylistic and representational behaviour of the film.
'I see some correspondence between the foundation of universal harmony on elliptical orbit and the predilection for the elliptic forms in Baroque architecture. In both cases harmony is still defined as unity within multiplicity, but it ceased to be static, namely, harmony expressed in one ideal geometrical form, and became so to speak dynamic. What was previously regarded as the deviation from the ideal form, was comprehended for the first time as an integral part of the form, or form of forms, which are capable of endless transitions one into another. ' [Amos Funkenstein, The Dialectical Preparation of Scientific Revolutions. On the Role of Hypothetical Reasoning in the Emergence of Copernican Astronomy and Galilean Mechanics.]

Color Correction Tutorial After Effects [The Right Way!]
An in-depth tutorial on color correction using Curves inside of After Effects and Photoshop. This method explains how to color correct most any footage "by the numbers". It's a bit of a science that requires only a minimum amount of understanding of RGB values.
Please bestow a ♥ like or leave a ✉ comment if you have questions!
You can skip the introduction if you so choose:

12:37 - Edit your color corrected footage in Premiere! (Dynamically Link the CC'ed Footage)
Using Photoshop for color correction is really a lot easier than you may think. In this tutorial, the method is very simple and fast - NO rendering multiple frames, NO importing video files into Photoshop, and easy access to making color changes.
This tutorial is a tad long at 15 minutes - please bear with me as I fully explain the techniques here! (It was recorded it in the middle of the night. :) Hopefully you will find the techniques in this After Effects Color Correction Tutorial helpful. UPDATE 3/31/11 - I have re-uploaded this tutorial as I have redone the intro.

☞ TIPS:
✏ Choose areas that are large enough to sample and don't contain color casts or Chromatic Aberration
✏ Remember to use common sense. If the colors are just not looking right, either sample a different area or adjust to your liking.
✏ Your footage may have different areas of brightness or color shifts throughout the video. Animate your Levels for differing brightness, and animate your Curves for differing color where needed.
✏ Sometimes having crushed blacks or blown highlights are okay - especially in video. Keep this in mind when working with the Levels effect and don't worry if you have either of those in your final result.
✏ If you have the opportunity, use a gray card somewhere in the image - so that later in post, you can reference that neutral gray midtone for color correction.
✏ IMPORTANT: If you are using CS5, make sure you are using the Eyedropper Tool, NOT the Color Sampler Tool. Thanks to Ryan Yakich for the heads up.
RGB Color Correction Values Reference (also at 9:54):
Highlights ✏ 245
Midtones ✏ 135
Shadows ✏ > 12

Slow Motion From Pictures! [After Effects Pixel Motion Tutorial]
Create a super slow motion effect from images in After Effects! All you need is two or more photos to create this effect. Pixel Motion is used in After Effects.

2:51 - How to Create Slow Motion From Pictures (method explained)
http://devowe.com/blog/2011/slow-motion-from-pictures-after-effects-tutorial/
☞ TIPS:
✏ Rotate around your subject - your axis of rotation should be around the subject in the photo.
✏ Choose subjects with little background detail to achieve the best Pixel Motion effect.
✏ Keep the motion between images very, very subtle. Practice rotating around your subject once or twice before you take the picture.
✏ Remember to have your camera on manual EVERYTHING: Aperture, Shutter, Focus, and White Balance. This will ensure the fastest multi-burst from your camera (DSLR or point-and-shoot). If you are shooting at a higher ISO, turn off in-camera noise reduction.
✏ Rename your files to numbers or alphabetical order - After Effects sometimes won't create a proper JPEG sequence with filenames such as "IMG_9738.JPG". In this example, I renamed my photos by chopping off the first 5 characters (making the filename "738.JPG") with a file renamer.
✏ Resize your images to your output WIDTH (1920 for my project). I created an action in Photoshop that automates everything. This will speed up your overall production and processing time.
☞ You can also use this method by zooming into your subject (instead of rotating) while shooting the images. Do this by either zooming with the lens, or physically stepping closer to your subject. Remember your manual focus here.
UPDATE: How to resize your photos/images:
✏ Download my Photoshop preset: http://bit.ly/resize-for-1080p-HD
✏ Follow the included instructions
REMEMBER that the photos you run through this Photoshop action WILL be overwritten. What I do is create a new folder called 'resized', copy my originals into it, then run the Photoshop action on the 'resized' images folder. After that, I chop off the first five characters of the filename with a file renamer such as File Renamer Basic (http://bit.ly/File-Renamer-Basic).

HD Widescreen Settings for YouTube
(Hit More Info) These settings where designed with Sony Vegas Pro 8, but they should work fine with Premiere, Ulead, and iMovie. The most important factor to getting that HD button your videos in the resolution. AS LONG AS THE VIDEO IS EXPORTED AT 1280x720, YOU WILL GET THAT WATCH IN HD LINK!!!! You can also change the setting to CBR rather than Quality VBR. However, if you are going to use CBR, make sure that under the bitrate tab, you change it to 6M. Some important notes.... • You DO NOT need an HD camera to have HD videos on YouTube. • You DO NOT need an HD monitor to view HD videos on YouTube. • You DO NEED a decent video editing program, this will not work with Movie Maker. • Setting the resolution to anything under 1280x720 WILL NOT give you HD. • You CAN have a 4:3 HD video. • You CAN have a 16:9 HQ video. • When you upload the video, it takes up to 30 minutes for the HD button to appear. So when you upload the video, don't panic if the button is not there immediately after upload. Wait up to 30 minutes before you start complaining. Why does it take so long for HD videos to load on YouTube? That's your internet connection, if you don't have a good ISP it will take long to load HD videos. Why does it take so long for HD videos to render? Its an HD video. HD naturally takes long to render. A faster computer will render videos quicker. ie. More RAM, better and faster processor, and a larger hard drive. Just how good is the compression? Well this video is 8:41 long ...

Big Blue Dress Widescreen
The MP3 for this song is on my newly-released album, "Big Blue Dress": itunes.apple.com www.amazon.com This is a re-edit of my original music video "Big Blue Dress". Many people have been asking for me to upload a better version to YouTube now that it supports higher resolutions and wide screen. Also since I've started using YouTube to post my videos, some people wanted them all in one place. In converting this old video to wide screen, I actually had to edit it from scratch because just trimming the original didn't work as you might expect. As a result, there are some minor differences between this video and the original. Since I was doing it from scratch, I did change a few things that you might notice. However, I tried to keep these changes very small. For you machinimators out there, I strongly recommend that you archive your footage and your project files because you never know when you might want to do something like this. I wrote this song and shot all the footage in 2005. Not only was this before the Burning Crusade expansion pack, but also it was before the first "mage love" patch which made the mage more powerful. So please don't focus on the numbers you'll see in this video. The video was never about the critical hits. If I could have removed that text, I would have. In some cases I was able to because I was using a "camera man", but in other cases it was live footage with the UI turned off (try it some time), but I couldn't turn off the damage numbers.
