Yampa River Rafting Trip Colorado Dinosaur National Monument Full Video
Rafting the Yampa River. johnnywetuber flips his boat twice in big water. The video only shows the first which actually occurred on the Green River after the confluence. Moonshine, SOB, Schoolboy, and Inglesby Rapids were pretty big @ 29000CFS. Warm Springs normally a Class III becomes Class V and is a blast to run as long as you stay out of "The Maytag" hole. This was June 14-19 and the Yampa was just below 20K. I lost my cooler full of beer on the second flip as I forgot to strap down the lid to my captain's cooler. That and the Jolly Roger were the only casualties. Hindsight was that I should have been more prepared to flip it back over sooner. The current was too strong to get it to shore. Surprisingly enough our first time rafter Linda had left her good upright raft to help jump on t...
See more videos of Steamboat Springs at http://www.SteamboatsMyHome.com THE Yampa River Tailwaters are below the Stagecoach reservoir in Routt county. It's approximately 25 minutes from Steamboat Springs, Colorado. It's opened all year long but access from Jan 1 - March 31 if by bike, foot, ski, or snow machine. Being a tailwater fishery, it's a pretty nice place to catch 10 - 24 inch trout.

Whitewater kayaking on the Yampa River in northwest Colorado at Cross Mountain Canyon. This is class III and IV whitewater that is pretty continuous with amazing inner canyon scenery. Enjoy!
Late October fly fishing trip to Steamboat Springs, Colorado with Joe Whitworth and friends. Fished the Yampa River, most of the fishing was 10-15 minutes drive from downtown. It had rained for several days before we arrived so the first fishing was tough with water pretty murky, but each day got better by the hour as the river cleared. Joe wanted everything filmed in SLOW MOTION. This is second attempt at GoPro video, many thanks to son Peter who put some time on this and helped his old dad.
This is a video of a 14' raft running the meat on Warm Springs Rapid. We filmed it with a Canon G9 mounted on a tripod (housed in a waterproof case). The river was running at 12,000 CFS. Enjoy

Shadow Trout Jarrett Edwards heads to Steamboat Springs, CO to fly fish the amazing Yampa River for trophy with guest Gary Buschy.
http://www.yspecial.com Tom and I fished Yampa River. We got tired of catching trout after 3 hrs and went to the lakes on previous video. The flow was very low as you can see but having the right flies paid off again. This is why I go play golf and work on the game on my day off, not much challenge left on trout fly fishing. We didn't take all the fish photos (brook trout, brown trout, rainbow trout, cuttbow and white fish) but more videos on this trip. Thanks for watching.

This video was shot with a GoPro Hero 3 mounted on the windshield of my car as I drove down Echo Park Road in Dinosaur National Monument. The road starts at 7500 feet at Harpers Corner Road in the canyons section of the national monument in Utah, and descends 2500 feet to the Echo Park in Colorado. Echo Park is on the Green River just below the confluence of the Green and Yampa Rivers. The end of the video includes a panorama of the meadow and surrounding cliffs next to the confluence at the end of the one mile hike out to where the Yampa River empties into the Green River. Echo Park Road is 13 miles long, and is steep in the first mile of switchbacks. This section is impassable if wet. This was shot on 17 October 2015.
River Watch began in the spring of 1989 with two-hour trainings at six schools along the Yampa River. It was the passion of a teacher, Ed Hayne, from Oak Creek, Colorado who threatened to start something like this if the Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) did not. Carol Bylsma, the Project Wild Coordinator for the CPW at the time, found funding for a River Watch Project. She engaged Barb Horn, a CPW Water Quality Specialist, to develop and implement a River Watch Program. It began as a program to collect water data of such quality it could be used for high levels of decision-making. The timing was perfect. The State Water Quality Control Commission was charged with making decisions regarding how much pollution would be allowed in Colorado's waters with only ONE data point, or NO data at all...

After dismal spring snow, the Colorado Water Trust ("CWT") issued a "Request for Water" in April of 2012 to bolster flows in drying waterways across Colorado. CWT utilized a previously-unused administrative tool that allows for a temporary change of use of a water right to instream flow under the Colorado Water Conservation Board's ("CWCB") Instream Flow Program. The administrative approval, rather than water court, let CWT, the CWCB, and each lessor to respond to local streamflow needs by mid-summer. CWT received nearly 100 water right offers in 2012. Completed projects included a lease on the Yampa River, two on tributaries of the Colorado, and one on the White River. Unfortunately, 2013's snowpack was also below average. Although streamflows were boosted by a snowy April, CWT relea...
