Grant Fuhr
Grant Scott Fuhr (born September 28, 1962) is a Canadian former ice hockey goaltender in the National Hockey League and former goaltending coach for the Phoenix Coyotes. In 2003, he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. He is best remembered for a decade of stellar play for the Edmonton Oilers in the 1980s. He won a total of five Stanley Cups and was a seven time All-Star.
Early life
Fuhr was born to one black parent and one white parent but was adopted by parents Betty Wheeler and Robert Fuhr and raised in Spruce Grove, Alberta. He set a number of firsts for black hockey players, including being the first to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

In late November 1993, starting Buffalo Sabres goaltender Grant Fuhr was sidelined with a significant injury. That same month superstar forward Pat LaFontaine's season was over due to knee issues. The Sabres were out of the playoff picture and had to trust their faith in backup goaltender Dominik Hasek. Hasek's first month was nothing short of spectacular, earning 5 shutouts total, after the team had only 1 over the two years prior. He would go on to finish the season with 7 of them and a sparkling 1.95 GAA, the first goalie to finish below 2 in nearly two decades, leading his team to a playoff berth.
