Saudi Arabia (
i/ËŒsÉ”Ë?diË? əˈreɪbiÉ™/, i/ËŒsaÊŠ-/), officially known as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), is an Arab state in Western Asia constituting the bulk of the Arabian Peninsula. With a land area of approximately 2,150,000 km2 (830,000 sq mi), Saudi Arabia is geographically the second-largest state in the Arab world after Algeria. Saudi Arabia is bordered by Jordan and Iraq to the north, Kuwait to the northeast, Qatar, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates to the east, Oman to the southeast, and Yemen to the south. It is the only nation with both a Red Sea coast and a Persian Gulf coast, and most of its terrain consists of arid inhospitable desert or barren landforms.
The area of modern-day Saudi Arabia formerly consisted of four distinct regions: Hejaz, Najd, and parts of Eastern Arabia (Al-Ahsa) and Southern Arabia ('Asir). The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was founded in 1932 by Ibn Saud. He united the four regions into a single state through a series of conquests beginning in 1902 with the capture of Riyadh, the ancestral home of his family, the House of Saud. The country has since been an absolute monarchy, effectively a hereditary dictatorship governed along Islamic lines. The ultra-conservative Wahhabism religious movement within Sunni Islam has been called "the predominant feature of Saudi culture", with its global spreading largely financed by the oil and gas trade. Saudi Arabia is sometimes called "the Land of the Two Holy Mosques" in reference to Al-Masjid al-Haram (in Mecca), and Al-Masjid an-Nabawi (in Medina), the two holiest places in Islam. The Kingdom has a total population of 28.7 million, of which 20 million are Saudi nationals and 8 million are foreigners.

In this video, I am traveling from Riyadh to Medina, Saudi Arabia, to explore Islam’s second holiest city. As a non-Muslim, I was curious about what it’s like to visit Medina (also spelled Medinah or Madinah), a place many travelers never get to see. After arriving on a short flight from Riyadh, I check into the Le Meridien hotel in Medina, Saudi Arabia, before heading out to experience the city. I visit an interesting date market, explore the world's largest Qur'an printing factory, and walk around the main area near the Prophet’s Mosque – the heart of Medina. While non-Muslims are not allowed inside the mosque itself, I was still able to witness the spiritual atmosphere that makes Medina such a special place. If you’re planning to travel Medina or are just curious about this sacred city, this Medina vlog will show you what to expect. Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.� I was a teacher and Nate started a small printing business from the spare bedroom of our apartment.
We discovered the world of “travel hacking� while planning our honeymoon & became addicted ;)
So after 2 years of obsessively saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year� trip around the world.
Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went back home to “normal life.� We started this channel to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with living on the road and found a new passion for capturing our travels through video. So we did everything we could to keep going.
4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time!
After ~2 years of van life, we are back to full time international traveling! And now we are in our 10TH YEAR of finding the best adventures the world has to offer :)

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.� I was a teacher and Nate started a small printing business from the spare bedroom of our apartment.
We discovered the world of “travel hacking� while planning our honeymoon & became addicted ;)
So after 2 years of obsessively saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year� trip around the world.
Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went back home to “normal life.� We started this channel to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with living on the road and found a new passion for capturing our travels through video. So we did everything we could to keep going.
4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time!
After ~2 years of van life, we are back to full time international traveling! And now we are in our 10TH YEAR of finding the best adventures the world has to offer :)

Who are Kara and Nate?!

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.� I was a teacher and Nate started a small printing business from the spare bedroom of our apartment.
We discovered the world of “travel hacking� while planning our honeymoon & became addicted ;)
So after 2 years of obsessively saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year� trip around the world.
Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went back home to “normal life.� We started this channel to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with living on the road and found a new passion for capturing our travels through video. So we did everything we could to keep going.
4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time!
After ~2 years of van life, we are back to full time international traveling! And now we are in our 10TH YEAR of finding the best adventures the world has to offer :)
We are incredibly grateful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎 Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our journey!
