The Lives of Mexican Immigrants / Docudrama Movie
The Lives of Mexican Immigrants / Docudrama; Creative Commons license: Attribution-ShareAlike; Producer: Lucy Hibberd ¿A DONDE FUE JUAN JOSE? (2003) is a story of dreams destroyed - hopes crushed. It is a compelling tale of an all too typical immigration from Mexico to the United States. The film artfully chronicles the plight of desperately poor Mexicans seeking a better life in the North. Two brothers, Juan Jose and Marcos leave their family in Mexico to come to the United States to find work. Their first attempt to cross the border ends in defeat when the Coyote steals their money. Their second attempt succeeds, but only after a near-death trek through the cast Sonoran desert. They finally arrive at the house of their Aunt Silvia who finds jobs for them with her friend Manuel, the Jefe of a large ranch. They are happy, working hard, sending money home to Mexico when tragedy strikes. ¿A DONDE FUE JUAN JOSE? depicts the lives of Mexican Immigrants. It is not a film you'll soon forget. Mexican immigrants, along with their Mexican American descendants, occupy a unique place in the story of US immigration. They are known by many different names, come from divergent origins, and took widely different paths to becoming part of the United States. Millions of people in the United States today identify themselves as Mexican immigrants or Mexican Americans. They are among both the oldest and newest inhabitants of the nation. Some Mexicans were already living in the Southern and ...

Titanic - Rare 'Molly Brown' 1957 TV Docu-drama - Part One
Here is Part One of the rare 1957 'Telephone Time' and Hal Roach Studios production of 'Molly Brown'. Made and released long before the Debbie Reynolds film version of 'The Unsinkable Molly Brown', this docu-drama details the maiden voyage of the Titanic, as described by Molly Brown. The feature also uses some action sequences taken from other Titanic productions such as the 1943 German propaganda film 'Titanic' and the 1953 Clifton Webb release 'Titanic'. A Weekend in November: A docudrama
This project was shot at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. HOWEVER, it is a work of fiction, and is NOT connected or ABOUT the location where it was shot. This is an important distinction. Thank you! Our experiment can finally be posted. This took a lot of work. It originally started out as a research experiment related to creating a narrative, using not-fully-scripted dialogue. After the three days of production produced an unusable result, what did become apparent was that the recorded audio could be trashed, but the video kept, and gaps filled-in with mock interviews. The idea for this I literally came up with in about fifteen minutes in the Spring of 2010. Professor Cara Cotellese, Tenure-Track (as of Summer, 2011) at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania was more than happy to supervise the experiment, with an intentionally vague idea as to what we were doing (on my part) so that we could figure out if working with non-actors doing improv. would work. Not to imply that this idea is new, but it was a research interest of mine after seeing films like Bubble. At the time, the department of Electronic Media, for whatever reason, was on a list to be eliminated by the University. As such, this project was VERY unusual for the department, and was a demonstration of what CAN be done in the future, should experimentation within the "rules" be allowed. For one thing, I refused to shoot this in 60i, 30p, or 60p. The entire project was shot at 24 frames per second, to ...

2010 Lebanon High School Docudrama
LEBANON HIGH SCHOOL EXPERIENCES REAL-LIFE CRASH St. Johns Trauma and Injury Prevention Center staged a mock car crash or docudrama at 1:45pm, Friday, April 30, 2010 at Lebanon high school, 777 Brice Street Lebanon, MO 65615. Staff from St. Johns Trauma and Burn Center, St. Johns Life Line, Lebanon Fire Department, Lebanon Police Department, the Laclede County Coroner, St. Johns EMS, St. Johns EMT students, Holman-Howe Funeral Homes, Quick Towing and Nancys Place assisted carefully selected Lebanon high school students to stage the docudrama by creating a realistic car accident scene played out in front of the student body. Volunteers and staff apply students with realistic make-up and wounds to alter them into crash victims. Docudramas require a community effort and a lot of time and donations from St. Johns and surrounding emergency care providers. Firefighters, paramedics, police officers and other emergency personnel respond to the scene as if it were a real situation. The local fire departments use the Jaws of Life to extract crash victims from the car. Paramedics treat victims mock injuries and police officers give sobriety tests to the mock drunk drivers and put them in handcuffs. Inattention is the number one cause of motor vehicle crashes in Missouri. As teens view the real life consequences of a motor vehicle crash the situation allows them to understand the traumatic injuries that can result from poor decision-making. It also allows the teen to understand that ...

The Queen - Docu-Drama - Channel 4 (Trailer)
No woman in the Western world has lived through, or helped shape history, as much as has Britain's Queen Elizabeth II. As the British Empire began to readjust to the landscape after World War II, and as society's beliefs about royalty and its role in public policy shifted, Queen Elizabeth was there to lead her subjects--yet to reveal very little about herself. The Queen, a creative and illuminating British miniseries, mixes documentary footage, current interviews with historians and friends and observers of the royal family, and dramatic fictionalized scenes "based on research" to attempt to paint a fuller portrait of the ubiquitous, but enigmatic, monarch. For anyone interested in the history of England or Europe, and for fans of royalty especially, The Queen makes for a mesmerizing, educational, and entertaining several hours--best broken up into several sittings. The historic footage is well used and goes back to the childhood of the princesses Elizabeth and Margaret, the latter apparently "very naughty and out for a good time" even as a child, before her bad-girl ways would create the young queen's first crisis of the throne. The Queen breaks the life of the monarch into five segments. In the first, Emilia Fox (Pride and Prejudice, Silent Witness) plays Elizabeth, suddenly made queen at age 25 upon the death of her father. The frisky Margaret is played by Katie McGrath, who resembles a dewy Kate Winslet. Elizabeth is forced to confront an inappropriate relationship ...

PS22 September 11th Docu-drama (2002) Pt. 1 of 5
ps22chorus.blogspot.com http twitter.com PS22's award winning-docudrama, "THE CONFERENCE," was filmed in 2002, the same school-year as the September 11th attacks. In 2007, it was featured as part of an exhibit in the World Trade Center museum, TRIBUTE WTC. Pretty amazing, especially when considering this was filmed with literally NO budget! 10 years later, and it still is the project I'm most proud to have been associated with. After many requests, I decided to post the film in it's entirety over the next few days. It's a tribute to these remarkable kids that after all this time, the movie still packs an emotional wallop in every which direction..... The following is taken from the info-packet that accompanied the film: OVERVIEW OF THE CONFERENCE On September 11, 2001, the world changed. Of course everyone has their own story to tell about that day -- where they were at the time, how they found out about the terror that ensued, who they know that survived the attack, and who they know that didn't. The teachers and students at PS22 are no exception. As a matter of fact, educators experienced September 11th in a very unique way. We were forced to put our fears and grief on hold. We needed to keep our children feeling safe and secure. So when the dust settled and our city began to resume a semblance of normalcy, we at PS22 were compelled to seek out an appropriate forum for the children to express their emotions, and at the same time, a way to instill in them the focus and ...

Daughters of the Witching Hill by Mary Sharratt
Daughters of theWitching Hill brings history to life in a vivid and wrenching account of a family sustained by love as they try to survive the hysteria of a witch-hunt. Bess Southerns, an impoverished widow living in Pendle Forest, is haunted by visions and gains a reputation as a cunning woman. Drawing on the Catholic folk magic of her youth, Bess heals the sick and foretells the future. As she ages, she instructs her granddaughter, Alizon, in her craft, as well as her best friend, who ultimately turns to dark magic. When a peddler suffers a stroke after exchanging harsh words with Alizon, a local magistrate, eager to make his name as a witch finder, plays neighbors and family members against one another until suspicion and paranoia reach frenzied heights. Sharratt interweaves well-researched historical details of the 1612 Pendle witch-hunt with a beautifully imagined story of strong women, family, and betrayal. Daughters of the Witching Hill is a powerful novel of intrigue and revelation.
