Dogme'95 109 Journey
Dogme'95 is the movement of filmmaking within avant-garde. The movement started in 1995 by Lars Von Trier and Thomas Vinterberg, Danish directors and creators of the Vow of Chasity, a signed transcript for all Dogme'95 Filmmakers to certify that their work follows the Dogme'95 manifesto and rules. The rules are as follows, taken from the movie mail website as sadly the official website was closed down and contact was lost.
The Dogme'95 rules
1 Filming must be done on location. Props and sets must not be brought in
2 Music must not be used unless it occurs within the scene being filmed
3 The camera must be hand-held; filming must take place where the action takes place
4 The film must be in colour. No special lighting
5 Optical work and filters are forbidden
6 No superficial action (No murders, weapons, etc.)
7 No temporal or geographical alienation.
8 No genre movies
9 the aspect ratio must be 4:3, not widescreen.
10 The director must not be credited
All these rules have to be followed to be able to class a film as part of the Dogme'95 manifesto
This film was made by myself and a collegue, I am the actor, editor and some camera work while my collegue does the majority of the camera work
All rights go to myself and my collegue :D
Thank you and enjoy :D

After Work: A Dogme 95 Experiment (Film 1001 Assignment)
Task: Make a 4 minute video that attempts to adhere to the Dogme 95 vow of chastity. Which forbids post-production audio, music, lighting techniques, genre conventions, etc. Shooting had to take place on location with a handheld camera. And finally the Director could not be credited. (I was very close to including my name in the credits with a "strikethrough"). Special Thanks to the cast which consists solely of family members. And additional thanks to my only crew man/future Brother-in-law. You all did great.

Train Rider - Dogme 95 short film
A lost film from the dogme 1995 movement:
Dogme 95 was an avant-garde filmmaking movement started in 1995 by Danish filmmakers.
Extracted from wikipedia:
'The goal of the Dogme collective is to purify filmmaking by refusing expensive and spectacular special effects, post-production modifications and other technical gimmicks. The filmmakers concentrate on the story and the actors' performances. They believe this approach may better engage the audience, as they are not alienated or distracted by overproduction. Rules, referred to as the "Vow of Chastity," are as follows:
[1] Filming must be done on location. Props and sets must not be brought in. If a particular prop is necessary for the story, a location must be chosen where this prop is to be found.
[2] The sound must never be produced apart from the images or vice versa. Music must not be used unless it occurs within the scene being filmed, i.e., diegetic.
[3] The camera must be a hand-held camera. Any movement or immobility attainable in the hand is permitted. The film must not take place where the camera is standing; filming must take place where the action takes place.
[4] The film must be in colour. Special lighting is not acceptable (if there is too little light for exposure the scene must be cut or a single lamp be attached to the camera).
[5] Optical work and filters are forbidden.
[6] The film must not contain superficial action (murders, weapons, etc. must not occur.)
[7] Temporal and geographical alienation are forbidden (that is to say that the film takes place here and now).
[8] Genre movies are not acceptable, etc'.
Train Rider is an exploration into the human subconscious, a short film about a young man's discovery of his own nature whilst travelling back in time 102 years.

DOGMA 95

An attempt at a dogma 95 film
A class project for which we were given less than 24 hours to film and edit.
I was the camera op and editor.
The rules were:
1. The director must not be credited.
2. You cannot have any special effects added later, only simple cutting is allowed.
3. Your film must be set here and now, i.e. no time or location shifting in post.
4. Your film must be shot on location: no sets.
5. the camera must be handheld.
6. any props to be used in film must be found at the location or be found among the items the cast and crew have with them.
7. No fancy lighting is allowed, only that found on set.
8. Any audio must be recorded by the camera as the shots are being filmed.
9. You cannot do a genre film, so no gangster films, no westerns etc.
The standard dogma 95 rules we were NOT following were:
1. must be shot on standard 35mm film (because everyone uses digital these days)
2. must be 4:3 in screen ratio (because the camera we were shooting with shoots 16:9 out of the box)
I challenge you to try make a film sticking to the above rules.
WATCH THE MOVIE FIRST BEFORE READING ON:
The idea behind this film was that is was shot around the time the megaupload trials were going on, so we figured music piracy would be a good "here and now" sort of topic.
