The Star Wars creator said "I'm moving away from all my businesses, I'm finishing all my obligations and I'm going to retire to my garage with my saw and hammer and build hobby movies". Disney Purchases LucasFilm - Star Wars Episode 7 Coming 2015!
bit.ly - Click to Subscribe! Facebook.com - Become a Fan! Twitter.com - Follow Us! First Pixar, then Marvel and now Walt Disney Pictures has purchased LucasFilm from George Lucas and is planning a seventh Star Wars film for 2015! In one of the most surprising announcements in a long time, the Mouse House has agreed to purchase LucasFilm as well as its gaming and technology companies LucasArts, Industrial Light & Magic and Skywalker Sound from sole owner Lucas in a cash and stock transaction that is valued at $4.05 billion dollars! Just to put that amount in perspective, that is the same amount all six Star Wars films have made at the box office! Regarding the purchase, Lucas said quote: "For the past 35 years, one of my greatest pleasures has been to see Star Wars passed from one generation to the next. It's now time for me to pass Star Wars on to a new generation of filmmakers. I've always believed that Star Wars could live beyond me, and I thought it was important to set up the transition during my lifetime. I'm confident that with Lucasfilm under the leadership of Kathleen Kennedy, and having a new home within the Disney organization, Star Wars will certainly live on and flourish for many generations to come. Lucas announced in June, following the box office failure of Red Tails, that he was retiring as the head of LucasFilm in order to make low-budget movies in his garage. Long time producing partner Kathleen Kennedy was named the Co-Chair of LucasFilm. With Disney ...
