99PKTS on the Golden Farm Picket Line
Saturday, Nov. 3 - 12:00 PM-
99 Pickets and Occupy Wall Street are joining workers and Kensington residents on the Golden Farm picket line this Saturday. After claiming they would never pay workers their back pay or allow a union in his store, Sonny Kim has reached a settlement with workers acknowledging he paid less than minimum wage, and is now entering into negotiations with the worker’s union. But workers are keeping up the pressure until the contract is signed and payment of back wages is received. The fight is not over, join us. If you have literature for your working, affinity group, and or GA or other movement bring it. Otherwise we have literature on The Spectra Pipeline, OWS (working groups and how to plug in) and ALL Community based GA's, as well as Occu-Evolve). Because we practice CONSENSUAL DEMOCRACY we want to make sure we get out the FULL message of not only Occupy but ALL movements and groups who want to be a part of this great change we are attempting to create in this country and around the world! Election Victory Celebration at Goldman Sachs
Monday, Nov. 5 - 7:00 PM-
CALL TO ACTION: Victory Party at Goldman Sachs
The System isn't broken - it's fixed!
Every four years, billions of dollars are spent convincing Americans that we all have a choice in our leadership. Endlessly repeating political ads and staged debates insist your $5 contribution is just as powerful as Goldman Sachs' millions in contributions to both sides. Do you really believe this? People who contributed $5 are now living on the streets because of foreclosure, while those who contributed millions are better off than ever.
Goldman Sachs, Citibank, and JPMorgan played starring roles in the financial collapse of 2008. Yet Congress and the President bailed them out. They still receive cash infusions from the Federal Reserve to cover future losses on their "investments." The $5 donation crowd pays for this through taxes and the debasement of the dollar. Since 2008, investment banks broke disclosure laws, manipulated the rates that are the foundation of all financial interactions, laundered money from drug lords, promoted anti-US terrorism by ignoring financial embargoes... the list just goes on and on and on. But not one of these banksters has been indicted or gone to jail. From the cop on the beat to our President, our government has been purchased by the ultra-rich, who hold the reins of power.
Every four years these faux rulers like to throw themselves a victory party. We're not invited. But this time things are going to be different. On Election Eve at 7PM, Occupy Wall Street is going to be standing in front of Goldman Sachs and telling it like it is: whoever wins, we the people lose. Why not join us at the Occupy mocktail party? It will be fun. Formal dress encouraged. Refreshments will be provided.

Make Voting Count: Election Day Alternative Voting Experiment
Tuesday, Nov. 6 - 6:00 AM-
***SEE UPDATE BELOW*** On Election Day, Tuesday November 6, 2012, the Political and Electoral Reform group will be conducting an alternative voting experiment at polling places in Manhattan's 69th State Assembly District. The group has been granted credentials from the NYC Board of Elections to conduct the exit-poll style experiment inside the city's official polling places.
The survey-style experiment allows us to compare three alternative voting methods with the traditional method employed in the United States. Participants in the experiment will answer a single question, reproducing a portion of the official ballot, under four different voting methods. This will allow us to compare how the same sample of voters act differently, at both the individual and aggregate level, when not constrained by the logic of the traditional voting method. The experiment compares plurality voting (traditional method) with approval voting, range voting and ranked choice voting.
The group will be sending teams of two people to official polling sites throughout the 69th Assembly District, which is on the West Side and stretches from 80th Street to 125th Street, and from Riverside Drive to Central Park West. After voters have cast their ballots at the polling sites, team members will ask if they would like to participate in the experimental survey. The test is conducted using both electronic tablets and paper ballots.
For more information about the voting experiment, see our website: http://www.paercom.net/
If you would like to volunteer to help conduct the experiment, please email us at paerwg@gmail.com, and write “MVC Volunteer” in the subject line.
