France's competition authorities Tuesday Dec.16, 2008 slapped a record Euro 575 million ($776 million) in fines on 11 companies, including subsidiaries of global steel giant ArcelorMittal, for running a cartel in the steel trading sector from 1999 to 2004. The Luxembourg-based ArcelorMittal, is the world's largest steelmaker and has over 326,000 employees in more than 60 countries.
