Occupy Asheville, in solidarity with Occupy Wall Street, works to connect individuals and groups throughout the community who share the goal of restoring the power of the people. As we confront a broken political system controlled by the wealth and influence of the 1 percent, we strive to include people of all ages, ethnicities, genders, and economic circumstances in our work to create a society that is fair, just, and equitable.
We are committed to non-violent, peaceful actions around the many interconnected social, economic, and environmental consequences of corporate corruption on a local, national, and global level. Through our actions and decision-making process, we demonstrate collaborative, non-hierarchical, and inclusive governance as a viable alternative to the existing political system.
