IRAN MILITARY SOLID FUEL 2 STAGE HYPERSONIC SAJJIL BALLISTIC MISSILE POWER
Towards a World War III Scenario? The Role of Israel in Triggering an Attack on Iran Part II The Military Road Map by Michel Chossudovsky ------------- www.globalresearch.ca -------------- "Theater Iran Near Term" Code named by US military planners as TIRANNT, "Theater Iran Near Term", simulations of an attack on Iran were initiated in May 2003 "when modelers and intelligence specialists pulled together the data needed for theater-level (meaning large-scale) scenario analysis for Iran." ( (William Arkin, Washington Post, 16 April 2006). The scenarios identified several thousand targets inside Iran as part of a "Shock and Awe" Blitzkrieg: "The analysis, called TIRANNT, for "Theater Iran Near Term," was coupled with a mock scenario for a Marine Corps invasion and a simulation of the Iranian missile force. US and British planners conducted a Caspian Sea war game around the same time. And Bush directed the US Strategic Command to draw up a global strike war plan for an attack against Iranian weapons of mass destruction. All of this will ultimately feed into a new war plan for "major combat operations" against Iran that military sources confirm now [April 2006] exists in draft form. ... Under TIRANNT, Army and US Central Command planners have been examining both near-term and out-year scenarios for war with Iran, including all aspects of a major combat operation, from mobilization and deployment of forces through postwar stability operations after regime change." Sajjil missile marks significant leap for Iran capabilities
Solid-fuel missiles can be launched at a moment's notice... On 12 November 2008, Iran test-fired a new two-stage solid-fuel medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM) with a range of 2000 kilometers known as Sajjil. It demonstrates a significant leap in Iran's missile capabilities. The Sajjil is a high-speed missile manufactured at the Iranian Aerospace department of the Defence Ministry. This missile places Iran in the realm of multiple-stage missiles, which Iran is on the way to having intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) capabilities. Launch video clearly shows a two-stage missile with a guidance system on the second stage and a triconic re-entry vehicle. Sajjil missile utilizes composite solid-propellant fuel and that unlike the Shahab-3 MRBM, which is launched only vertically, the Sajjil could be launched at a variable angle. Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Mustafa Mohammad Najjar hailed the launch of the Sajjil missile as "very fast". The ability of solid-fuel missiles to remain in storage for long periods, and then reliably launch at a moment's notice, makes them the design of choice for military applications. World War III: The Launching of a Preemptive Nuclear War against Iran by Michel Chossudovsky --------------- globalresearch.ca -------------- The launching of an outright war using nuclear warheads against Iran has been on the active drawing board of the Pentagon since 2005. If such a war were to be launched, the entire Middle East Central Asia region would flare up. Humanity would be precipitated into a World War III Scenario. World War III is not front-page news. The mainstream media has excluded in-depth analysis and debate on the implications of these war plans. The onslaught of World War III, were it to be carried out, would be casually described as a "no-fly zone", an operation under NATO's "Responsibility to Protect" (R2P) with minimal "collateral damage" or a "limited" punitive bombing against specific military targets, all of which purport to support "Global Security" as well as "democracy" and human rights in the targeted country. Public opinion is largely unaware of the grave implications of these war plans, which contemplate the use of nuclear weapons, ironically in retaliation to Iran's nonexistent nuclear weapons program. Moreover, 21st Century military technology is at an advanced stage of development combining an array of sophisticated weapons systems. We are at the crossroads of the most serious crisis in World history. The future of humanity is at stake. The present situation is one of advanced war planning by a formidable military force using nuclear ...

IRAN MILITARY SUPERSONIC STEALTH BALLISTIC MISSILE LAUNCH
www.presstv.ir -------------------- Iran mass-produces ballistic missiles -------------- Iran has mass-produced smart ballistic missiles capable of destroying naval targets, the commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) says. Brigadier General Mohammad Ali Jafari made the remark during a news conference on Monday, IRNA reported. According to the Iranain commander, the missiles are supersonic with a speed three times more than the speed of sound, immune to interception and feature high precision systems. General Jafari went on to say that the footage of the missiles will be soon released. He said that Iran is currently producing 500-km stealth radars and is also planning to mass-produce long-range passive radars, which are stealth and have a range of 1100 km. The IRGC has been upgrading its defense capabilities to counter any possible attack, the senior commander said.

Iran state TV announces test firing of long range missile
English language Press TV on Wednesday aired pictures of what it said was the successful launch of a Sajjil-2 missile, a high-speed, surface-to-surface missile with a range of about 1200 miles (1930 kilometres). That range places Israel, Iran's sworn enemy, well within reach and could reach as far away as southeastern Europe with greater precision than earlier models. Iran is also known to possess a medium-range ballistic missile known as the "Shahab-3", which means "shooting star" in Farsi, with a range of at least 800 miles (1300 kilometres). In 2005, Iranian officials said they had improved the range of the "Shahab-3" to 1200 miles (2000 kilometres). The Sajjil-2 missile is Iran's most advanced two-stage surface-to-surface missile and is powered entirely by solid-fuel while the older Shahab-3 uses a combination of solid and liquid fuel in its most advanced form, which is also known as the Qadr-F1. Solid fuel is seen as a technological breakthrough for any missile programme as solid fuel increases the accuracy of missiles in reaching targets. Iran launched an arms development programme during its 1980-88 war with Iraq to compensate for a US weapons embargo. Since 1992, Iran has produced its own tanks, armoured personnel carriers, missiles and a fighter plane. The country has intensified its domestic missile development in recent years, raising concerns of the US and its allies at a time when they accuse the country of seeking to build a nuclear weapon. Iran denies it ...

Iran provokes West with upgraded long-range missile test
The international standoff with Iran over its nuclear ambitions seemed to go from bad to worse today, as the country test-fired a new version of its longest-range Sajjil-2 missile -- capable of reaching Israel, US bases in the Persian Gulf and parts of Europe. This drew quick reaction from western governments. For more, Daljit Dhaliwal speaks with Ervand Abrahamian. worldfocus.org

IRAN MILITARY AIR DEFENCE WARGAME
in.reuters.com ----------------------------- Iran has tested a new radar system, a military commander said on Wednesday, as part of a show of strength it hopes will warn Israel and the United States against any attack. On day three of a 10-day military exercise, Amir Ali Hajizadeh, head of the Revolutionary Guards' aerospace division, said the new radar system, called Ghadir, was used for the first time. "The Ghadir radar has been designed and built to detect airborne targets, radar-evading planes, cruise and ballistic missiles and low-orbit satellites," he was quoted as saying by the student news agency ISNA. The radar has a range of 1100 km (680 miles) and a height of 300 km (190 miles), he said. As part of the "Great Prophet 6" exercise, Iran test-fired surface-to-surface missiles on Tuesday, with a maximum range of 2000 km (1250 miles), emphasising it could hit Israel or US targets in the region in the event of attack. The United States and Israel have said they do not rule out military strikes on Iran if diplomatic means fail to stop it developing nuclear weapons. Tehran says its uranium enrichment programme is geared to producing electricity, not atom bombs.

Iran tested 2000 km ranges missile The Revolutionary Guards tested the Shahab-3 and Sajjil rockets, which are believed to have ranges of up to 2000km (1240 miles), reports said. The missiles' range could potentially permit them to reach Israel and US bases in the Gulf, analysts say. The tests come amid heightened tension with the big international powers over Iran's nuclear ambitions. Last week, Iran disclosed it was building a second uranium enrichment plant, despite UN demands that it cease its enrichment activities.

IRAN MILITARY AIR DEFENSE CAPABILITY
asian-defence.blogspot.com ---------------- A top Iranian commander says the country's military has developed the technology to spot and intercept radar-evading aircraft. "The (Iranian) Khatam al-Anbiya Air Defense Base is capable of detecting, identifying, intercepting and countering different types of radar-evading planes and enemy's cruise missiles... in the country's skies," said Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili. "In order to spot, identify, intercept and deal with enemy spy planes, we will tap into the country's full potential," he added. The top Iranian commander further underlined that the Islamic Republic remains vigilant against Israeli and US military threats. "The more the threats, the more vigilant we will be, and the more the sanctions, the more our progress," he noted. Esmaili pointed out that the morale of the Iranian nation, particularly the Armed Forces, is "at the highest level possible." "By God's grace and thanks to the perseverance of local experts, at the moment we have developed modern radar and missile systems, and there are no problems in this regard," he went on to say. "The Islamic Republic of Iran bears no animosity toward any country, but we will firmly counter any aggression should we witness any hostile act by other countries," the senior commander stressed. Commander of the Aerospace Division of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Amir Ali Hajizadeh announced earlier that a lot of super-modern enemy spies had been shot down. In ...
