  Australia ( /əˈstreɪljə/), officially the Commonwealth of Australia, is a country in the Southern Hemisphere comprising the mainland of the Australian continent as well as the island of Tasmania and numerous smaller islands in the Indian and Pacific Oceans. It is the world's sixth-largest country by total area. Neighbouring countries include Indonesia, East Timor and Papua New Guinea to the north; the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and New Caledonia to the north-east; and New Zealand to the south-east.
  For at least 40,000 years before European settlement in the late 18th century, Australia was inhabited by indigenous Australians, who belonged to one or more of roughly 250 language groups. After discovery by Dutch explorers in 1606, Australia's eastern half was claimed by Great Britain in 1770 and settled through penal transportation to the colony of New South Wales from 26 January 1788. The population grew steadily in subsequent decades; the continent was explored and an additional five self-governing Crown Colonies were established.

  The Credit Suisse Group AG (SIX: CSGN, NYSE: CS) is a Swiss multinational financial services company headquartered in Zurich, with more than 250 branches in Switzerland and operations in more than 50 countries.
  Credit Suisse was founded by Alfred Escher in 1856 under the name Schweizerische Kreditanstalt (SKA, English: Swiss Credit Institution).
  In 1942, it opened its first branch outside of Switzerland, in New York City.
  In 1988, it gained a controlling stake in The First Boston Corporation and in 1993, Credit Suisse Group bought Schweizerische Volksbank (English: People's Bank of Switzerland). In 1996 the two retail banks were merged and renamed Credit Suisse.
  In 2000, it acquired the investment bank Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ) and, with it, an e-commerce software portfolio, including DLJ Direct, that it later sold to the Bank of Montreal.

  The United States of America (commonly abbreviated to the United States, the U.S., the USA, America, and the States) is a federal constitutional republic comprising fifty states and a federal district.   Brady Dougan
  Brady W. Dougan (born 1959) is an American business executive. He is the Chief Executive Officer (since May 2007) of Credit Suisse. Prior his current position, Dougan was Chief Executive Officer of Investment Banking and acting Chief Executive Officer Credit Suisse Americas (since January 2006).
  He has served on the Executive Board since 2003. Mr. Dougan received a B.A. in Economics in 1981 from the University of Chicago and an M.B.A. in Finance in 1982 from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
  After starting his career in the derivatives group at Bankers Trust, he joined Credit Suisse First Boston in 1990. He was the Head of the Equities division for five years, before he was appointed Global Head of the Securities division in 2001. From 2002 to July 2004, he was Co-President, Institutional Services at Credit Suisse First Boston, and from 2004 until the merger with Credit Suisse in May 2005, he was Chief Executive Officer of Credit Suisse First Boston. From May 2005 to year-end 2005, he was Chief Executive Officer of the Credit Suisse First Boston division at the Bank. From January 2006 he was CEO Investment Banking and acting CEO Credit Suisse Americas, since 2007 he is the Group CEO.

  Brooksley Born
  Brooksley E. Born (born August 27, 1940) is an American attorney and former public official who, from August 26, 1996, to June 1, 1999, was chairperson of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), the federal agency which oversees the futures and commodity options markets. During her tenure on the CFTC, Born lobbied Congress and the President to give the CFTC oversight of off-exchange markets for derivatives in addition to its role with respect to exchange-traded derivatives, but her warnings were opposed by other regulators. Born resigned as chairperson on June 1, 1999, shortly after Congress passed legislation prohibiting her agency from regulating derivatives.
  Born graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School (San Francisco, California) at the age of 16. She then attended Stanford University, where she majored in English and was graduated with the class of 1961. She initially wanted to pursue a career in medicine. However, the guidance counseling service at Stanford opposed this, as it was their stated opinion that a woman who was interested in becoming a doctor, instead of the more suitable career of a nurse, was merely materialistic and had no sincere interest in healing.

  Charlie Rose
  Charles Peete "Charlie" Rose, Jr. (born January 5, 1942) is an American television talk show host and journalist. Since 1991 he has hosted Charlie Rose, an interview show distributed nationally by PBS since 1993. He has also co-anchored CBS This Morning since January 2012. Rose, along with Lara Logan, has hosted the revived CBS classic Person to Person, a news program during which celebrities are interviewed in their homes, originally hosted from 1953 to 1961 by Edward R. Murrow.
  Rose was born in Henderson, North Carolina, the only child of Margaret Frazier and Charles Peete Rose, Sr., tobacco farmers who owned a country store. As a child, Rose lived above his parents' store in Henderson and helped out with the family business from age seven. Rose admitted in a Fresh Dialogues interview that as a child his insatiable curiosity was constantly getting him in trouble. A high school basketball star, Rose entered Duke University intending to pursue a degree with a pre-med track, but an internship in the office of Democratic North Carolina Senator B. Everett Jordan got him interested in politics. Rose graduated in 1964 with a bachelor's degree in history. At Duke, he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order fraternity. He earned a Juris Doctor from the Duke University School of Law in 1968. He met his wife, Mary (née King), while attending Duke.

• Chris Corrigan
  Chris Corrigan (born 1946) is an Australian businessman. He was the Managing Director of the Patrick Corporation until it was taken over in 2006.
  Born in country New South Wales, he was educated at Bowral High School, the Australian National University and Harvard University. In the US he developed an interest in marketing and media and acquired new techniques in retail finance, including margin lending, which he introduced to Australia.
  He joined stockbroker Ord Minnett as an analyst in 1968 and moved to BT Australia as investment manager in 1970. He was appointed managing director in 1979. Corrigan formed a partnership with Peter Scanlon, a former Elders Limited executive, in 1990 when he set up an investment and management services business that first became the Lang Corporation and later stevedore company Patrick Corporation.
  Corrigan is best known for the 1998 Australian waterfront dispute, in which he attempted to sack the heavily unionised workforce and replace it with strikebreakers, eventually leading to reform and restructuring of dockyard labour practices. In the 2007 miniseries Bastard Boys about the dispute, Corrigan was played by Geoff Morrell.

  Greg Coffey is an Australian hedge fund manager based in London.
  Coffey graduated in actuarial studies from Macquarie University.^{[citation needed]}
  Coffey joined Macquarie Bank in 1993 and in 1994 traded emerging-market equity derivatives at Bankers Trust and Deutsche Bank AG. Coffey was hired by Blueborder Partners, a George Soros related hedge fund and hired by Bank Austria to oversee global equity proprietary trading.
  Coffey was a widely acclaimed trader at GLG Partners (GLG) who then announced his plan to leave behind his $200m GLG Partners compensation package for other endeavors. Industry sources estimated that Coffey was responsible for two-thirds of GLG's performance fees during his time there. In November 2008, Coffey left GLG to become co-chief investment officer of Moore Europe Capital Management, a subsidiary of Moore Capital Management.
  Coffey is estimated to have earned £170m in the previous year after increasing by 51% the value of his emerging markets fund.
  In November 2010 Coffey bought Ardfin, a 12,000-acre sporting estate on the island of Jura in Scotland.

  Jeffrey Preston "Jeff" Bezos (/beɪzəs/, born January 12, 1964) is an American entrepreneur who played a key role in the growth of e-commerce as the founder and chief executive officer of Amazon.com, Inc., an online merchant of books and later of a wide variety of products. Under his guidance, Amazon.com became the largest retailer on the World Wide Web and the model for Internet sales.
  Bezos was born Jeffrey Preston Jorgensen in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Jacklyn Gise Jorgensen and Ted Jorgensen. His maternal ancestors were settlers who lived in Texas, and over the generations acquired a 25,000 acre (101 km² or 39 miles²) ranch in Cotulla. Bezos' maternal grandfather was a regional director of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission in Albuquerque. He retired early to the ranch, where Bezos spent many summers as a youth, working with him. At an early age, Bezos displayed a striking mechanical aptitude – as a toddler, he tried dismantling his crib with a screwdriver.
  Bezos was born to a teenage mother in Albuquerque. Her marriage to his father lasted little more than a year. When Jeff was five, she remarried, this time to Miguel Bezos. Miguel was born in Cuba, immigrated to the United States alone when he was fifteen years old, worked his way through the University of Albuquerque, married, and legally adopted Jeff. After the marriage, the family moved to Houston, Texas, and Miguel became an engineer for Exxon. The young Bezos attended River Oaks Elementary School in Houston from fourth to sixth grade. As a child, he spent summers at his grandfather's ranch in southern Texas, "laying pipe, vaccinating cattle and fixing windmills."

  Joaquin Avila is Managing Director of the global private equity firm, Carlyle Group, where he is responsible for researching and discovering opportunities in the field of buyout investments.
  He holds a B.S. from Universidad IberoAmericana, a M.S. from Stanford University, and an MBA from Yale School of Management.
  He was formerly a Managing Director and Head of Latin America for the now defunct Lehman Brothers, where he concentrated on the development and implementation of regional strategic plans. He has also worked for Banco Santander and Bankers Trust and was a board member of Unica, a Mexican venture capital firm. As Managing Director of Banco Santander, he was responsible for strategy development in Latin America and the acquisition of Banco Mexicano, the fourth largest bank in Mexico.
  Avila also formed VAInvestments, a private equity firm based in Mexico which was financed by Banco Santander. In addition, he was a Managing Director of VA Investments/Compass Group, where he created strategic plans to develop private equity and asset management businesses in Mexico.

  John Key
  John Phillip Key (born 9 August 1961) is the 38th Prime Minister of New Zealand, in office since 2008. He has led the New Zealand National Party since 2006.
  Born in Auckland before moving to Christchurch when he was a child, Key attended the University of Canterbury and graduated in 1981 with a bachelor of commerce, also later undertaking management studies at Harvard University in Boston. He began a career in the foreign exchange market in New Zealand before moving overseas to work for Merrill Lynch, in which he became head of global foreign exchange in 1995, a position he would hold for six years. In 1999 he was appointed a member of the Foreign Exchange Committee of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York until leaving in 2001.
  Key entered the New Zealand Parliament representing the Auckland electorate of Helensville as one of the few new National members of parliament in the election of 2002 following National's significant defeat of that year. He has held the seat since then. In 2004, he was appointed Finance Spokesman for National and eventually succeeded Don Brash as the National Party leader in 2006. After two years as Leader of the Opposition, Key led his party to victory in both the November 2008 and the November 2011 general elections.

  Maxim Dlugy
  Maxim Dlugy is a Grandmaster of chess. He was born on January 29, 1966 in Moscow, USSR. He arrived with his family in the United States in about 1979. He was a late developer and was only an average player for his age until he shot up in strength in the early 1980s. He was awarded the International Master title in 1982. He won the World Junior Chess Championship in 1985. He was awarded the Grandmaster title in 1986 at the World Chess Olympiad in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where he played on the U.S. team that was in first place going into the last round. Always a superb speed chess player, Dlugy was formerly ranked number one in the world by the World Blitz Chess Association.
  He emigrated to America when a young boy and first came to notice in 1984 when he finished 3rd in the U.S. Chess Championship. He was 2nd= in New York 1985, 2nd= in Clichy 1986-87 and 3rd= in the 1987 U.S. Chess Championship.
  He turned to chess politics and ran for and was elected President of the United States Chess Federation in 1990.

  Richard Farleigh
  Richard Buckland Farleigh (born 9 November 1960) is an Australian private investor. He is currently a member of the Business Review Weekly Rich 200 list, a list of the 200 wealthiest Australian individuals. In 2012, he took on the symbolic role of Chancellor at London South Bank University.
  Born Richard Buckland Smith (after his father, despite his being the second born son) in Kyabram, Victoria, Australia, Farleigh was one of eleven siblings. His father, Richard Geddes Smith, a labourer and sheep shearer, was reported to be a violent alcoholic, who moved around Australia with his wife, Richard's mother, Millicent Duggan, and their children. When Farleigh was aged two, he and his siblings were taken into care and sent to foster homes. Richard was "taken into foster care by Marjorie and Keith Farleigh from Peakhurst in Sydney’s south-western suburbs". By the age of five, he was considered "backward" but despite this went on to excel later in life at mathematics and chess, after attending Narwee Boys High he won a scholarship to read economics at the University of New South Wales.
