Syria: Dispatches from Daraa
www.hrw.org Syrian authorities have tried to keep the world from getting images or information from the Southern city of Daraa, the scene of a massive government crackdown against protesters. But Syrians have documented abuses with cellphones and cameras and made footage available to Human Rights Watch. This video, narrated by HRW's Nadim Houry, gives a glimpse of what the people of Daraa have endured since protests began there in March. Read the report, "We've Never Seen Such Horror" www.hrw.org

www.hrw.org The fruits and wine that come from the Western Cape of South Africa are enjoyed by consumers around the world and generate billions of rand for South Africa's economy, yet the farmworkers who help produce these goods are denied basic human rights. Somalia: Child Soldiers
www.hrw.org Somalia: Warring Parties Put Children at Grave Risk Al-Shabaab Rebels Impose Forced Marriages, use Students as 'Human Shields' (London, February 21, 2012) -- Somalia's warring parties have all failed to protect Somali children from the fighting or serving in their forces, Human Rights Watch said in a report released today. The Islamist insurgent group al-Shabaab has increasingly targeted children for recruitment, forced marriage, and rape, and attacked teachers and schools, Human Rights Watch said. "For children in Somalia, nowhere is safe," said Zama Coursen-Neff, deputy children's rights director at Human Rights Watch. "Al-Shabaab rebels have abducted children from their homes and schools to fight, for rape, and for forced marriage." The 104-page report, "No Place for Children: Child Recruitment, Forced Marriage, and Attacks on Schools in Somalia," details unlawful recruitment and other laws-of-war violations against children by all parties to the conflict in Somalia since 2010. The report is based on over 164 interviews with Somali children, including 21 who had escaped from al-Shabaab forces, as well as parents and teachers who had fled to Kenya. Human Rights Watch called on all parties to the conflict, involving Somalia's Transitional Federal Government (TFG) and African Union forces (AMISOM) against al-Shabaab, to release any child soldiers in their ranks, protect children formerly associated with fighting forces, and protect schools, teachers, and ...

Lead Poisoning and Gold
Not long after Human Rights Watch released this video, Nigeria's federal Minister of the Environment received presidential sign-off on more than US$4 million in funding for for environmental remediation and safer mining in Zamfara state. www.hrw.org Since 2010 ongoing, widespread, acute lead poisoning in Zamfara state has killed at least 500 children. Considered the worst outbreak of lead poisoning in modern history, more than 3500 affected children require urgent, life-saving treatment. Less than half are receiving it. Among adults there are high rates of infertility and miscarriage. Zamfara is a mineral-rich state, with significant deposits of gold. The acute lead poisoning in Zamfara is a result of artisanal gold mining: small scale mining done with rudimentary tools. Miners crush and grind ore to extract gold, and in the process release dust that is highly contaminated with lead. Children in affected areas are exposed to this dust when they are laboring in the processing site, when their relatives return home covered with the dust on their clothes and hands, and when the processing occurs in their home. Children are also exposed to this highly toxic lead in contaminated water and food sources.

We have conducted the rebrand of french public service channel France 5, self defined as the channel of ‘Knowledge and Experience’. In addition to a new graphic system which we will soon present, we also worked on a concept for a series of 25 idents that would epitomise ‘knowledge’ as well as act as a clear link to the channel’s multidisciplinary identity.
It is simple, strong, challenging, epic, multidisciplinary, everyday, mesmerizing and beautiful all in one package. It is also very easily recognizable and sustains repeated watching very well.
The concept is as simple as it is strong; a multitude of things that move in the same direction, one following the other, like a chain reaction between completely different worlds. Its underlying meaning is stated loud and clear: knowledge derives from making new links.
The idents become a voyage in which the viewer experiences the ever changing world. Each shot is just long enough for you to grasp what you’re watching, but not too long that it bores you. It also instills in you the feeling of wanting more. Everything travels from left to right but sometimes a thing can reach the apex of its trajectory and start moving in the opposite direction.
And in the words of Alphabetical Order®, the talented directing duo to whom we owe this innovative project “this is of course about moving forward, striving, exploring, fighting, longing, pushing the limits and developing. It symbolizes what makes humanity prosper, what fascinates us in life”.

Mind, Soul and Spirit Ident (Ms2 - 2010)
This video introduces the new Mind Soul and Spirit ident, a French creative community gathered around pictures (mind), music (soul) and video (spirit).
The video is entirely created with Adobe After Effects and the amazing Trapcode Particular 2.
I tried to produce something very different from what I usually saw coming out with this plug-in.
The main idea was to express Life through different levels.
The Mind animation represents Nature as the Source of Life, mother of everything, the intelligence in nature as the beginning of anything around us, the mysterious unknown where all begins and ends.
The Soul animation sounds like two brain hemispheres, and creates a kind of parallel with the cellular division.
The left side and the right side are like stereo in music. This floating brain is surrounded by a twin snake (DNA) coming out from the center of the human brain, from the symbolic third eye. This cosmic snake shapes a circle around the brain's hemispheres, mastering time and human creation.
The Spirit animation is more abstract, uncatchable, with a kind of unstable shape, like thoughts always moving and changing in our heads. It’s hard to describe how it works how to define it. Is it true or just electric impulses in our brain, the total sum of our knowledge or something else that links us all on another level, or is it our true identity beyond our present life?
Finally the Spirit merges with Mind and Soul, but this impact sounds more like a positive explosion, like a regenerative event, giving birth to the mind soul and spirit packshot with three logos: the scarab (mind), the phoenix (soul) and the dragon (spirit).
Three strong symbols of eternity or constant rebirth stating in many cultures around the Globe.

Behind The Works 02 - Amina & Helen
I did a shoot with 2 playboy girls in Sweden. Amazingly kind and fun girls. Truly a charming pair of ladies. This is a low-res movie only, sad to say, but it's better then nothing, right. Anyway, if you are sensitive to humans, you should not watch this since skin is visible.
Maybe thats mostly a warning for the americans coz they go bezerk for some tits, but we in Sweden does not mind this natural thing.
Hope you enjoy.

The funnest weekend with my best friends. Lance says it just right.
During the pre production of the 'Pack Your Bags' video, Tyler T Williams and I found we had a lot more in common than just music and the videos that surrounded them. Talking on a regular basis by phone and through emails, we instantly acquired a friendship. Our love for 90's TV shows and artsy indie films soon found me buying plane tickets to Boise Idaho, where Williams lives. We had talked about shooting another video, though my intentions were far from that upon arrival. Matt Jones, also of Audio Milk, was so kind to pick me up from the airport and show me the sights and sounds of what Boise had to offer. I quickly noticed that Boise felt like home in a way. The people were courteous; the landscape (other than the snow covered mountains) reminded me of where I live. Everyone was completely welcoming to the fact that I had made my way to Boise. I felt at home, a feeling I've honestly never felt anywhere else throughout all the travelling I've ever done. The first night consisted of me, Tyler, Kait (Tyler's girlfriend), Matt Jones and Trevor Powers at Tyler's home. We ended up buying a case of beer and followed by watching the film "Clue". I have to admit I only made it about an hour in before I passed smooth out.
The following day, Tyler and I began premeditating the video that we had talked about. I knew from the get go that I didn't want anything serious, nor depressing. The video for 'Pack Your Bags' had enough of that to last a lifetime! Instead, we began plotting out ideas to shoot material for the track 'Kathryn, My Love'. After hearing about a local costume shop, the idea struck me. At first, it was only going to be myself in a costume for the video, but after trying on various animal heads and throwing out ideas, I realized I wanted both Kait and Matt in the video as well. I picked out the bear costume, Kait was chosen the eagle, and Matt ended up getting the sheep dog.
The shooting of the video was and always will be a priceless memory for me. Random moments tend to pull at your heart strings, because you know you can't ever get those back. For instance, the animal heads we were wearing were heavy and hot. Tyler stepped in dog feces by accident, and the people passing by stopped to take pictures and to give us hugs. There are just certain things in life you will never forget. And that is defiantly one of those moments. The final shots in the video were at a local venue, where that night they were having a drag show. Undeniably the perfect spot to film. At first, people starred at us, but quickly got in to the whole idea we were trying to achieve by dancing alongside of us. I recall a moment where both I and Matt had stepped off the dance floor to rest. Little did Kait know, she was still out busting moves with everyone, even though Tyler wasn't filming.
To make a long story short, I had one of the best times of my life while visiting Boise. Our idea just to have fun with what we were doing rather than taking everything so serious ended up establishing a cherished memory for all of us. I'll always look back at this video and think of Boise and the wonderful time I had while visiting. Sometimes being playful has its benefits, too. We as humans, sometimes take everything so seriously. We forget to relax every now and then and just allow things to happen. This video is documentation to a group of people who threw down their barriers, and just let lose. Thank you to Tyler, Kait, Matt and everyone else who was a part of this video. I will never forget your hospitality and love.
Best

To Protect & Serve: Police Brutality in India
Visit www.hrw.org For decades, successive governments in India have failed to deliver on promises to hold the police accountable for human rights violations including arbitrary arrest and detention, torture and extrajudicial killings. The Indian government should take major steps to build professional, rights-respecting police forces and overhaul a policing system that facilitates and even encourages human rights abuse.
