Queen Receives IOC Members at Buckingham Palace
Britain's Queen Elizabeth and her husband Prince Philip welcomed members of the International Olympic Committee to Buckingham Palace on Monday. [Elizabeth II, Queen of England]: "Members of the International Olympic Committee, Prince Philip and I are delighted to welcome you here ot mark the occasion of the 30th Olympiad, the London 2012 Games." The royal couple chatted with IOC President Jacques Rogge inside the palace before welcoming other guests. Later in the afternoon, the Queen made a speech welcoming the IOC to London. London is the first city to host the Olympic Games for the third time -- the 1908 and 1948 Games were also held there. Rogge responded to the Queen's speech and thanked Britain for her contribution to the world of sports. [Jacques Rogge, International Olympics Committee President]: "Thank you so much, Your Majesties, for your very kind words and thank you also for the great hospitality we are experiencing here in Buckingham Palace and also in Great Britain. The world of sport is very much indebted to Great Britain who, as a first nation, invented modern sport in the latter half of the 19th century." After his speech, Rogge presented the Queen with Olympic medals and she seemed surprised how heavy they were. The opening ceremony for the London 2012 Games will be held on Friday. Leaping high for gold - Yelena Isinbaeva - Russia - Athens 2004 Olympic Games
Yelena Isinbaeva started out as a gymnast in Volgograd until the age of 15. However, as she kept on growing, she moved into athletics which would prove to be a great choice. Arriving at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games, Isinbaeva was already a world record holder and therefore a favourite; however she had placed third in the World Championships. Yelena Isinbaeva had already missed two attempts for 4.70 and 4.75 metres, leaving her in third place, with fellow Russian athlete Svetlana Feofanova leading. In a jump that could define a bronze or gold medal, she made her final attempt directly for 4.80m. This time, a perfect jump took Isinbaeva to the lead. Yelena Isinbaeva still came back to pass the 4.85m barrier and after that settle a new world record at 4.91m.

Fencing Women's Epee Individual Finals - China Korea Full Replay from the ExCeL - South Arena 1 at the London 2012 Olympic Games. -- 30 July 2012 Fencing was included for the first time at the 1896 Games in Athens, and has remained on the Olympic programme since then. The women's fencing competition entered the Games in 1924 in Paris. Today, men and women compete in individual and team events, in which three types of weapon are used: foil, epee and sabre. Mark Spitz - Seven golds - Munich 1972 Olympic Games
At the 1972 Munich Games, Spitz was determined to make up for his below-par performances four years earlier at the 1968 Mexico City Games. He did not disappoint. Over a period of eight days, Mark Spitz entered seven events, won all seven and set a world record in every one. Mark Spitz held the record for most gold medals won at a single Olympic Games for 36 years. It was finally broken by American phenomenon Michael Phelps who won eight gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Games.

First men's singles Olympic Table Tennis Gold - Yoo Nam-Kyu - Seoul 1988 Olympic Games
Table tennis is very popular sport, especially in Asian countries such as China and Korea. So it was no surprise to see the crowd's enthusiasm for the Olympic debut of the sport at the Seoul 1988 Olympic Games. In the Men's Final, the Olympic gold medal was decided between two Korean athletes, which made supporters even more excited for the match. On one side of the table was Kim Ki-Taik; while on the other side was Yoo Nam-Kyu. After an unimpressive start, losing the first game by 17-21, Yoo Nam-Kyu won the next three consecutive games (21-19,21-11,23-21) to take the first ever men's singles Table Tennis Olympic gold medal.

Korean footballers showed political message banned by IOC.
After the third place game of Men's Football at the London Olympics 2012 , South Korean footballers were walking around the ground with showing very clear political message. The message says "Dokdo is Korean territory!" in Korean alphabet. South Korea calls Liancourt Rocks " Dokdo". and Liancourt Rocks is the disputed islands between South Korea and Japan. but South Korean footballers showed their strong political message that "Dokdo is Korean territory!" at the football stadium for London Olympics 2012. In spite of any political message is banned by IOC,Korean footballers sent out the political message that " Dokdo is Korean territory!" in Korean at the football stadium for London Olympics. I am so disappointed because I have thought Olympics is the brightest stage for wishing peace all over the world. and Olympic spirit is nothing to do with any political act. I think IOC has need to give South Korean footballers punishment.

An unforgettable comeback - Greg Louganis - Seoul 1988 Olympic Games
Greg Louganis is considered the greatest diver of all time. Arriving at Seoul 1988, he was already a champion in his sport with two Olympic gold medals from the Los Angeles 1984 Olympic Games and a silver won in Montreal 1976, where he had made his Olympic debut at age 16. However, no one could expect what would happen in Seoul. During the preliminary rounds of the 3 metres springboard competition, Louganis shocked the audience by striking his head on the springboard while performing a dive. He was still able to qualify for the finals where, showing perseverance and determination, Greg Louganis delivered an outstanding performance to take the gold medal. Louganis would still win another gold medal in the Seoul Olympic Games, this time in the 10 metres platform, taking the Olympic Double Double in men's diving.

How Olympic gymnastics used to be - Paris 1924 Olympic Games
Gymnastics in the 1924 Olympic Games barely resembled the current competition format. Athletes competed collectively, with only a few seconds on each apparatus, which we can identify as some of the same apparatus found it today's gymnastics events The Paris 1924 Olympic Games were the last time only men competed in gymnastics, with women having their debut in the Amsterdam 1928 Summer Games.
