Jimmy Choo, OBE, born Choo Yeang Keat, (Chinese: 周仰杰; pinyin: Zhōu Yǎngjié)^[1] is a Malaysian fashion designer based in London, United Kingdom. He is best known for founding Jimmy Choo Ltd that became known for its handmade women's shoes.

Choo was born in Penang, Malaysia, into a family of shoemakers, who are of Chinese Hakka^[2] descent. His family name is Chow but was misspelled on his birth certificate as Choo. He made his first shoe when he was 11 years old. He is perhaps the most notable of students of Cordwainers Technical College in Hackney, England, from which he graduated in 1983. (The college is now part of the London College of Fashion at University of the Arts London.) Choo has divulged that he worked part time at restaurants and as a cleaner at a shoe factory to help fund his college education.

Jimmy Choo traced his beginnings back to his workshop in Hackney, North London, which he opened in 1986 by renting an old hospital building. His craftsmanship and designs were soon noticed and he came to the verge of international notability when his creations were featured in a record eight pages in a 1988 issue of Vogue. Patronage from Diana, Princess of Wales, from 1990 further boosted his image.

In 1996, he co-founded Jimmy Choo Ltd with British Vogue magazine accessories editor Tamara Mellon.

In April 2001, Choo sold his 50% stake in the company for £10 million. He has since concentrated his work on the exclusive Jimmy Choo Couture line produced under license from Jimmy Choo Ltd. The Jimmy Choo London line, also known as Jimmy Choo Ready-To-Wear or, simply, Jimmy Choo, is under the purview of Mellon. The ready-to-wear line has expanded to include accessories such as handbags.

Choo lives in London and is currently involved in a project to set up a shoemaking institute in Malaysia, where his iconic status is often evoked to inspire budding shoemakers and fashion designers. Jimmy Choo Ltd. produces some of the most expensive high-end shoes.

Robert "Rob" Pruitt (born 1964 in Washington D.C) is a visual artist based in New York City.

Pruitt grew up in Rockville, Maryland.^[1] In a 2010 exhibition at Gavin Brown's enterprise he showed several works influenced by Amish tradition.^[2]

His recent work, "Andy Monument," is a seven-foot-tall, chrome-finished statue of Andy Warhol on Union Square West.^[3]

Edward Ikem 'Eddie' Newton (born 13 December 1971 in Hammersmith, Greater London) is a former English professional footballer and assistant manager of Premier League side Chelsea to interim manager Roberto Di Matteo.

As a player he was a defensive midfielder from 1990 until 2001 notably for Chelsea where he scored in the 1997 FA Cup final. He also played in the Football League for Cardiff City, Birmingham City, Oxford United and Barnet and in the Conference National for Hayes. He also earnt two caps for the England U21 side.

Playing career[link]

After making his way through the Chelsea youth system he was loaned out to Cardiff City in January 1992, making his debut in a 4-0 win over Chesterfield. Unfortunately Cardiff fell three points short of a play-off place and Newton returned to Chelsea. He played for Chelsea in the 1994 FA Cup Final, but his foul on Denis Irwin in the second half saw him cautioned and led to Manchester United receiving a penalty which was scored by Eric Cantona.^[1] He then made a defensive error which allowed United's Mark Hughes to make it 3-0.^[2]

Chelsea went on to lose 4-0 but United had won the double to qualify for the European Cup, allowing Chelsea to play European football for the first time since the 1970s with a place in the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup. Newton was part of the team that reached the semi-finals of the 1994-95 competition and also the semi-finals of the 1995-96 FA Cup.

Newton famously scored Chelsea's second, clinching, goal in the 1997 FA Cup final to seal a 2-0 win over Middlesbrough. He won the Cup Winners' Cup and League Cup with the club a year later, but was thereafter hampered in his quest for a starting place by injuries and manager Gianluca Vialli's signing of French World Cup-winning midfielder Didier Deschamps.

He joined Birmingham City in July 1999 on a free transfer before spending short spells at various lower league clubs, including Oxford United and Barnet. He later retired due to a knee injury and converted to Islam.^[3] and married his Turkish/Swedish wife Zeliha (Kilic) Newton in 2003.^{[citation needed]} He is business director of New Vision Sports Ltd, which offers grass root multi sports for children, after school clubs, personal training and holiday schemes. Newton also hosted Football Icon 1 and 2 alongside Jamie Redknapp.

Management & coaching career[link]

A few years after finishing his football career Newton went to coach a kids school football team at Mount carmel primary school, Ealing, London. He was the head coach and coached many different age groups, including former goalkeeping legend Dave Beasant's nephew, Delroy. He also trained Joel Baker of St Saviours.

On 2 July 2008 Newton was appointed assistant manager to Roberto Di Matteo at Milton Keynes Dons. A year later, on 30 June 2009, Di Matteo was appointed head coach of West Bromwich Albion and it was reported that Newton would be joining him at the club as assistant head coach.^[4] When Di Matteo was relieved of his duties in January 2011, Newton also left the club.

On 5 March 2012 it was announced that Newton would be joining the back room staff at Chelsea, supporting Roberto Di Matteo. Di Matteo had just taken over as interim Head Coach at Chelsea following the departure of Andre Villas Boas.^[5][6] In his short time as assistant manager at chelsea he has won the UEFA Champions league and FA cup.
