Amazing Red Tide Bioluminescent Waves at La Jolla
Amazing blue glowing waves at La Jolla Shores beach caused by the red tide that hit San Diego on September 29, 2011. The bright blue color is caused by bioluminescence from an algae bloom. The algae is red in the day, hence the name Red Tide, but glows a bright blue at night when agitated, such as when a wave breaks. It's a really awesome sight to see.... when people swim in the water, the entire water around them glows blue. Truly amazing! No color correction was made to this video.... This is really the color of the waves. The wave in the middle is in slow motion. And just as a side note -- it is really difficult to get video of these waves. They seem pretty bright in person, but video cameras just have a hard time picking it up and focusing. Only took me about 90 minutes at the beach to get this 16 seconds of good footage :). Going to try again tomorrow by going in the water and see if I can get some close-ups.

Mac Meda Destruction Company - La Jolla - Windansea Sea Lane
In memory of Jack Macpherson. In the 1960s Macpherson (and crazy Rakestraw) brought together their jack off La Jolla drinking friends, acquaintances, and hangers-on into an organization or club they later dubbed, "Mac Meda Destruction Company." The group was featured in Tom Wolfe's 1968 book The Pump House Gang. Mac Meda spilled into the next decade and become an icon for what was then a unknown La Jolla, CA within WindanSea and Sea Lane Beach crowd - whose only commonness (regardless if you were a jock, surfer, nerd, etc) was beach drinking of keg beer and other alcoholic beverages. What is sad about this video, just about every frame, someone is not here today. More info and history of Mac Meda can be found at, en.wikipedia.org

Contact the best La Jolla Real Estate Agent, Greg Phillips, for any San Diego real estate needs. Transcript La Jolla is one of Southern California's most beautiful cities. Home to many of the rich and famous, and a vacation playground for countless others. It's beautiful; I mean I think it's one of the most beautiful places in the world actually Very unique spot. I have never seen anything like this. It is like almost like a little village in itself. It's not that big, but is very precious. La Jolla is actually Spanish for "the jewel" and to the 29000 people who live here, it is just that. A great place to vacation or live and raise a family. It's just so beautiful. The houses here, a lot of the houses here that were built in the 20's and 30's are just so really, really make for cool driving through the neighborhoods. This stretch of ocean along here is probably, in my opinion, world-class as far as how it looks from the, not only from the ocean, but how it looks from the shore as well. When you look at La Jolla you can compare it to south of France. If you go to Nice, Caanes, you will have about the same thing going on. You have the best surrounding beautiful waters, amazing people. There are several distinct areas within La Jolla. Among some of the most popular, La Jolla Farms is near UCSD ...

"Cow Parade" Art Event, La Jolla, California
So there I was motorcycling around La Jolla, California near my home, and I noticed that around forty painted full size imitation cows have now appeared in many downtown locations. I was like "Huh??" LOL, so I went online and found out it's a public art event known as the "Cow Parade" ( www.cowparadelajolla.com ). It turns out that "the event has been held in more than 50 cities, on six continents, and has been seen by more than 100 million people." This type of event REALLY reflects my fun (and my MORE than a little warped) sense of humor, so I thoroughly enjoyed watching the reactions of the pedestrians as they walked by these outdoor works of art. It was such a wonderful, stark contrast to see the brightly colored cows in the midst of a typical ocean side downtown setting, and this art presentation is also a HUGE contrast to the typical venue of an art gallery presenting an art show. In June, when this particular event is over, there will be post-exhibition auctions, and the proceeds will benefit Rady Children's Hospital and the Zoological Society of San Diego. The song for the video is one of the official, CHF (copyright hassle free), YouTube AudioSwap music library ones entitled "Beloved" by Angela Easterling. I overlaid the song with audio of a bunch of cows mooing. I haven't personally verified that the audio use of cows mooing is acceptable to the YouTubeCopyrightGods, and to the BCLU (Bovine Civil Liberties Union), but it seems to be a logical deduction that cow ...

Amphitrite - underwater goddess
Director Damien Krisl had the creative vision to visualize a deity. Beauty, weightlessness, mystery and art were key aspects of the concept. The objective was to mix the elements of fire and water.
It was intended to create strong contrasts. On one side the deity had to have the beauty, femininity and delicacy of a seahorse and on the other side the strength and evilness of a dragon.
In ancient Greek mythology, Amphitrite was a sea-goddess and wife of Poseidon. Under the influence of the Olympian pantheon, she became merely the consort of Poseidon, and was further diminished by poets to a symbolic representation of the sea. The clip shows the invocation of the goddess.
The movie was nominated @

"I did not follow the dictates of the scientists, who said that they are so dedicated to what they are doing that when lunchtime comes all they do is clear away the test tubes from the benches and eat their lunch on these benches. I asked them: was it not a strain with all these noises? And they answered: the noises of the refrigerators are terrible; the noises of centrifuges are terrible; the trickling of the water is terrible. Everything was terrible including the noises of the air-conditioning system. So I would not listen to them as to what should be done. And I realizes that there should be a clean air and stainless steel area, and a rug and oak table areal From this realization form became. I separated the studies from the laboratory and placed them over gardens. The garden became outdoor spaces where one can talk. Now one need not spend all the time in the laboratories.

San Diego: La Jolla Cove
Solana Beach, San Diego North County. Next to La Jolla, Del Mar on the South, Encinitas, Carlsbad and Oceanside on the north. Even a dedicated travel writer has to go on vacation sometimes, and after many very hectic weeks in my full-time business it was finally time to head out again, this time to San Diego, a southern-Californian dream destination for outdoor lovers. On a very early morning we escaped the cold Toronto winter, and after a brief stop in Detroit we arrived in San Diego before noon. We picked up our rental car to drive north to Solana Beach where we were going to stay in a holiday apartment for the next week. We drove past all the fancy stores in upscale La Jolla and stopped for a brief snack in La Jolla Shores. Airlines dont feed you any more these days, so we had to look after ourselves. After our arrival in the late afternoon we walked one block up to the waterfront. The coastline in Solana Beach is characterized by high sandstone cliffs and a narrow flat sandy beach which, depending on the tide, may actually be completely flooded by water. The late afternoon sun was casting a beautiful golden glow on the interesting sandstone formations, and the sun slowly started to set. Solana Beach, along with the entire southern Californian coastline, is a popular destination for surfers, and dozens of surfers were playing in the waves off the beach. Locals were going for a ride on the beach or taking their dogs for a walk. Interesting formations of seaweed and ...
