Tuesday, the facility opened for the first time and will remain open 24-hours a day to help nearby residents.
Last year, Sequatchie County was ranked 91st out of 95 counties for its poor health. That's a major reason why Erlanger chose Dunlap for it's satellite location. It's the first full-service emergency room operating in a separate location from Erlanger's main campus in the entire state.
"So providing important medical care, medical care is really important to that community, so our goal ultimately is to elevate their health status," says Senior VP of Business Development at Erlanger, Joe Winick.
Not only will it cut down on wait-times at other hospitals in the region...
"Hopefully it means life saving opportunities for them," says Winick.
Though it's only been open 24 hours, the new E.R. is giving many people in Sequatchie County a reason to feel relieved.
"Being a parent, having children, is always a good idea with medical. I like it all the way around," says Fisher.
