Pembury is a large village in Kent, in the south east of England, with a population of around 6,000. It lies just to the north-east of Tunbridge Wells.
The village centre, including the village green and High Street area is a conservation area.
A settlement in Pembury almost certainly predates the Norman conquest, as the village church of St Peter is of Norman origin. It is thought to have been built in the early 12th or late 11th century, though the earliest it can be dated with certainty is to 1337, when John Culpeper of Bayhall carried out building work to the church.
The first recorded mention of Pembury is as "Peppingeberia" in the 12th century Textus Roffensis, though Edward Hasted states that it was also known in ancient deeds as "Pepenbery".
With the widespread introduction of the motor-vehicle in the early 20th century, Pembury Hospital hosted a centre of groundbreaking research and treatment for Hodophobia (fear of road travel). Ironically, some of the original test subjects settled in Pembury and many of their descendants still live in the village today.
This video was made by young people at Pembury Youth Centre in Hackney, London. Here is the Change One Thing project funded by Peabody Trust filmed last year by the amazing guys at Pembury Youth Centre. Young people, 10-19 years old, made a documentary about the Pembury Estate consultation for the new Youth Club and had a lot of fun doing it. They might have even made a difference to the estate, but you would have to watch the film to find that out.

This Channel Seven Perth historic News story features changes that took place in Perth between the 1950's and 1970's. The Swan River crossing between Perth and Victoria Park first consisted of two wooden bridges on either side of Heirisson Island, which were eventually replaced by the present pair of concrete and steel Causeway bridges in 1952. After almost sixty years of service, the Perth tramways were gradually phased out over a decade, up until 1958. The first portion of the Kwinana Freeway, from the Narrows Bridge to the Canning Bridge, was completed in 1959, the year TVW Channel 7 first began broadcasting. Decimal currency was introduced in 1966, later followed by our conversion to metric weights and measures. The first section of the Mitchell Freeway, from the Narrows Bridge, w...

A link between Royal Tunbridge Wells and Quebec City, Canada was marked by the planting of a Canadian Maple tree in Woodbury Park Cemetery on Thursday 1 September 2016. The Mayor of Tunbridge Wells, David Neve, planted the tree during a ceremony to mark the completion of restoration work on the Hale family memorials in the cemetery which was made possible with support from the Jeffery Hale Foundation of Quebec. Completion of the restoration work comes as the Jeffery Hale Foundation commemorates the 150th anniversary of the Jeffery Hale Hospital on 8 September. In a reciprocal gesture the Mayor of Quebec will plant an English Oak tree in his city’s Mount Hermon Cemetery on 8 September during events to commemorate the 150th anniversary. Guests attending the celebrations in Canada on 8 Sep...

I’m on my way to the top
Screaming catch me if you can but I cant be stopped
I’m just tryna be the cream of the crop
But right now I’m the cream of the not so hot
It takes time but I’m holding the clock
All I need is one chance and that’s all that I’ve got
Read the script but I’m changing the plot
Changed the game you could say that I’m changing a lot
So I’m turning heads got to make a name
Got to point to prove got to make a change
New chapter in life so I’m turning the page
Wont stop till the whole world remembers my name
And I’m here to stay and I can’t be stopped
And I’m on the ladder but it’s a long drop
People pray for my downfall, pray that I flop
Get lost cause I’m working my way to the top
Cause I’m on my way, to the top
And nothing can stop me baby
Move out of my way, this is my time
And nothing can stop me baby
Cause I’m on my way, to the top
And nothing can stop me baby
Move out of my way, this is my time
There aint no stopping me baby
Road ahead is long and seems winding
I’m on my way and what perfect timing
There’s no escaping the fame no hiding
I’m just taking my time, biding
Music’s simply a mountain I’m climbing
Got youth on my side no fountain provided
So when I stepped on the scene explosion
Or earthquake like tectonic plates were colliding
I’ll make you all stand up and take notice
Always improving maintaining my focus
Been at the bottom of the barrel for while
But I’ve got to start somewhere its part of the process
Oh yes, set destination
TV, onstage radio stations
I’m representing the nation
Its bomber and music is my occupation
Cause I’m on my way, to the top
And nothing can stop me baby
Move out of my way, this is my time
And nothing can stop me baby
Cause I’m on my way, to the top
And nothing can stop me baby
Move out of my way, this is my time
There aint no stopping me baby
There’s only fame on my mind
But I’m just taking my time
I put my heart in the music
Title I’m making it mine
There’s only fame on my mind
But I’m just taking my time
I put my heart in the music
Title I’m making it mine
Cause I’m on my way, to the top
And nothing can stop me baby
Move out of my way, this is my time
And nothing can stop me baby
Cause I’m on my way, to the top
And nothing can stop me baby
Move out of my way, this is my time
