Hi, I'm television and multimedia journalist, Daniel Wilkerson. Thanks for taking the time to stop by my site. My goal is to show you a few of my latest projects and solicit your feedback. I work as a reporter at KTHV-TV in Little Rock, Ar. I work as a one-man band. I shoot, edit, produce and write for the web. I come from the land made famous by Elvis, Justin Timberlake, Al Green and of course its killer barbeque ribs, Memphis, Tenn. Prior to joining the THV 11 news team, I worked as an anchor/ reporter for WBBJ-TV in Jackson, Tenn. While at the ABC/CBS affiliate, I reported on a variety of government and consumer issues. Before catching the "journalism bug," I enjoyed an 11-year career in banking. Afterwhich I returned to college and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in communications from the University of Memphis. While in school I worked as an on-air personality for WUMR, the college's FM jazz station. My daily goal as a journalist is to approach each story asking myself, "How will my viewer benefit from this story? Did I present both sides of the issue, allowing the viewer to make a fair assessment?" I love the way the Constitution offers protection for the press and the public and feel it is my obligation as a journalist to help keep the government and other institutions accountable to the people. Words I try to live by were pinned by Author Marianne Williamson and quoted by former South Africa President Nelson Mandela: "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." You can catch me weekdays on THV 11 News at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. and hear the broadcast I produce Saturdays at 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. Live outside our viewing area? Never fret! We stream our broadcast online on THV 2. The dream job at this point is to work as a reporter for a major network. And that's where you come in. I figure, I can only get better by accepting criticism and making adjustments where needed.
