The Merricam - No-Cost "Steadicam" DIY
The Merricam - No-Cost "Steadicam" DIY
Support an indie filmmaker and like this on Facebook: www.facebook.com This video will show you my way of converting a tripod to a camera stabilizer (or "MerriCam") using only a screwdriver. I used the Sunpak Platinum Plus 7500 Pro tripod for this video, along with the Canon HV20. All demo shots were done with no practice. This technique is not meant for very large or heavy cameras, but is ideal for consumer-sized camcorders like the HV20.

AF101 on Steadicam Test Footage - AF100 Sample Video
AF101 on Steadicam Test Footage - AF100 Sample Video
Find out more at www.fryfilm.com Steadicam Operator John E Fry and cameraman Kevin Babey take the Panasonic AG-AF101 on a test flight on an EFP Steadicam. The AF-101 was fitted with a lovely 14-24mm f2.8 AFS Nikon lens, Chrosziel mattebox kit, external battery, Sennheiser G2 radio mic and rails system. The EFP Steadicam was stripped down to accommodate such a light camera setup, which was still just below the minimum weight range of the arm, so apologies for any visible footsteps! The micro 4/3 chip of the AF101 performed well for our sample video footage so we are keen to use it on a job! All kit & crew for hire now from FryFilm Productions UK. Chicken Powered Steadicam - Smarter Every Day
Chicken Powered Steadicam - Smarter Every Day
twitter.com Click to share via Facebook!---- on.fb.me ----- I waited a couple of years for someone to make this video, so I finally decided to do it myself. I shot the video about three months ago and just now edited it down. The micro camera website mentioned above has lots of examples of what this camera is an how to operate it. You'd be pretty amazed how many uses there are for one. I hope you enjoy! If you enjoy my stuff, I would appreciate it if you subscribe! I've also posted another video which investigates the "Backdriven reflex" in more depth. It can be viewed here: www.youtube.com People are often worried about how tight the binder was on the chicken's head. You'll note I said "without hurting the chicken". I stretched the binder out so it had a very light clamping force. Also, this video inspired another user, Jeremiahjw to create his own chicken powered steadicam. His video can be seen here: www.youtube.com Pennywhistle Productions.
