In my fourth lecture, I go in-depth on how to write your own Mythopoeia, creating your own myths, and using them in your own spiritual development. Using my own fantasy novels as an example, the Phantammeron series, I explain the lessons learned in 25 years of mythological and spiritual study.
In essence, writing Mythopoeia is a form of "religious writing"; something inspirational you can use to reconnect with your religion, your Creator, or with Creation itself (as you view such things). As such this concept extends way beyond what writing Mythopoeia is today or how I might define it as a spiritual and literary medium in this lecture. As such, this lecture may have a much wider purpose and goal in moving us all into a new frontier of self-exploration that delivers a much wider and more fulfilling spiritual movement.

My attempt to start writing my own 'mythopoeia', complete with plenty of introspection and plenty of poetry. As mentioned in the audio, here are (some) of the words that I am reading (the poems, not the commentary, since I made that up as I went along. Obviously. ;) ) Not all, because descriptions are not allowed to be long.
Baying 5: Anima
Midway upon the journey of my life,
I'll fall under the shadow of the Sphinx,
Who captures my whole self within her gaze,
And holds me in what others call bleak eyes,
A glance that lashes o'er a tarot spread.
A falcon will grace her shoulder gauntlet,
Behind the baying of her hounds will rise
She looses these on fools who stumble in
To a private moment's grotto unprepared.
And first I hear the terror of her living laugh,
Until she says: "Once I sat cross-legged
On a flower floating over the void;
And I learned a certain stillness, silence;
I learned the words that cut through cloth and skin.
I have nine lifetimes, would be honoured still
To see you trip over one of the worst."
She has no patience for poetry as cant
But lives a Grecian epic as a sonnet.
Baying 3: Yahweh
No hands -- no feet -- no loins -- no mouth -- All geist,
This ageless king who haunts the jealous sky,
The clouds that hang, a tortured arm's reach away
From the arid desert of their humble caves.
Beneath the miasma the pilgrims groan,
Their bodies formed by the twists of their machines:
Nameless devices -- shrouded under tents --
Unsanctioned sight of which is said to blind.
Baying 4: Kingdom of Sleeping Gods
The Kingdom of the Sleeping Gods was vast,
Each dream wove into a Byzantine maze
Within whose folds both lives and deaths were won --
And discarded as the shreds of majesty's flag.
Such holy words were coined to keep the peace
(a weary way to nap within the sleep).
Such games were played! Such songs were spun, to kiss
The ears of all who listened in thralldom's clutch.
And overhead, that bird! An eagle with an
Overwhelming cry! It spun in gyres unseen
And stranger orbits
Than e'er a globe spun in Platonic hands.
And arrows leapt that bit the sun! Such cries!
But when the archers missed, they gnashed their teeth
And swore (in truth) that soon they'd pierce their mark.
Baying 1: Taurloc
The rage in each man's love lived in a forge:
Deep within his clutch of harlots, he cussed
And cast his glass of hot red bull's-blood down.
Across his handsome face a birthmark sprawled;
Along the foreflesh of his warlike arms
His veins bucked with each moment's giddy rage.
They sweated there, the harlots, with their god
Of velvet shrines, Taurloc his dreadful name,
And Taurloc's scent was of a stamping steed --
A horse blazing over the sun-drenched plains.
Baying 2: Wordsworth Girl
The fickle girl who dances in the mists
Without touching the ground, a spinning plate
Over the yawning deep, a wishful cup
That o'erflows itself with fanciful tears.
Is she like young Wordsworth in his boat
Seeing the landscape rise like gods of stone,
Wondering to which the current marries her?
The cave that holds a hibernating throne?
The wicked lord whose teeth are sharp limestone?
The rockslide that will bury her in time?
This range of rock-bound men are her world's spine.
Collective
Woman with a black centipede body covered over by a vast black cloak that trails behind her in a manner more majestic than ghastly -- though beneath, just the opposite is true. A vastness of black, trailing cloth like a wedding gown over her many grotesque segments. Under the cloak, each bump seems the same, but each segment has distinct, pseudo-facial features.

Mythopoeia
Mythopoeia (also mythopoesis, after Hellenistic Greek μυθοποιία, μυθοποίησις "myth-making") is a narrative genre in modern literature and film where a fictional mythology is created by the writer of prose or other fiction. This meaning of the word mythopoeia follows its use by J. R. R. Tolkien in the 1930s. The authors in this genre integrate traditional mythological themes and archetypes into fiction.
Introduction and definition
Mythopoeia is also the act of making (creating) mythologies. Notable mythopoeic authors include Tolkien, C. S. Lewis, William Blake, H. P. Lovecraft, Lord Dunsany, Mervyn Peake and George MacDonald. While many literary works carry mythic themes, only a few approach the dense self-referentiality and purpose of mythopoeia. It is invented mythology that, rather than arising out of centuries of oral tradition, are penned over a short period of time by a single author or small group of collaborators.
As distinguished from fantasy worlds or fictional universes aimed at the evocation of detailed worlds with well-ordered histories, geographies, and laws of nature, mythopoeia aims at imitating and including real-world mythology, specifically created to bring mythology to modern readers, and/or to add credibility and literary depth to fictional worlds in fantasy or science fiction books and movies.

Clive Staples Lewis (29 November 1898 – 22 November 1963) was a British novelist, poet, academic, medievalist, literary critic, essayist, lay theologian, broadcaster, lecturer, and Christian apologist. He held academic positions at both Oxford University (Magdalen College), 1925–54, and Cambridge University (Magdalene College), 1954–63. He is best known for his fictional work, especially The Screwtape Letters, The Chronicles of Narnia, and The Space Trilogy, and for his non-fiction Christian apologetics, such as Mere Christianity, Miracles, and The Problem of Pain.
Lewis and fellow novelist J. R. R. Tolkien were close friends. They both served on the English faculty at Oxford University, and were active in the informal Oxford literary group known as the Inklings. According to Lewis' memoir Surprised by Joy, he was baptised in the Church of Ireland, but fell away from his faith during adolescence. Lewis returned to the Anglican Communion at the age of 32, owing to the influence of Tolkien and other friends, and he became an "ordinary layman of the Church of England". His faith profoundly affected his work, and his wartime radio broadcasts on the subject of Christianity brought him wide acclaim.

Mythopoeia - How to Write a Mythopoeia
In my fourth lecture, I go in-depth on how to write your own Mythopoeia, creating your own myths, and using them in your own spiritual development. Using my own fantasy novels as an example, the Phantammeron series, I explain the lessons learned in 25 years of mythological and spiritual study. In essence, writing Mythopoeia is a form of "religious writing"; something inspirational you can use to reconnect with your religion, your Creator, or with Creation itself (as you view such things). As such this concept extends way beyond what writing Mythopoeia is today or how I might define it as a spiritual and literary medium in this lecture. My attempt to start writing my own 'mythopoeia', complete with plenty of introspection and plenty of poetry. Baying 5: Anima
Midway upon the journey of my life,
I'll fall under the shadow of the Sphinx,
Who captures my whole self within her gaze,
And holds me in what others call bleak eyes,
A glance that lashes o'er a tarot spread.
A falcon will grace her shoulder gauntlet,
Behind the baying of her hounds will rise
She looses these on fools who stumble in
To a private moment's grotto unprepared.

On a flower floating over the void;
And I learned a certain stillness, silence;
I learned the words that cut through cloth and skin.
I have nine lifetimes, would be honoured still

She has no patience for poetry as cant
But lives a Grecian epic as a sonnet.

And overhead, that bird! An eagle with an

That o'erflows itself with fanciful tears.
Is she like young Wordsworth in his boat
Seeing the landscape rise like gods of stone,
Wondering to which the current marries her?
The cave that holds a hibernating throne?
The wicked lord whose teeth are sharp limestone?
The rockslide that will bury her in time?
This range of rock-bound men are her world's spine.

My attempt to start writing my own 'mythopoeia', complete with plenty of introspection and plenty of poetry. As mentioned in the audio, here are (some) of the words that I am reading (the poems, not the commentary, since I made that up as I went along. Obviously. ;) ) Not all, because descriptions are not allowed to be long.
Baying 5: Anima
Midway upon the journey of my life,
I'll fall under the shadow of the Sphinx,
Who captures my whole self within her gaze,
And holds me in what others call bleak eyes,
A glance that lashes o'er a tarot spread.
A falcon will grace her shoulder gauntlet,
Behind the baying of her hounds will rise
She looses these on fools who stumble in
To a private moment's grotto unprepared.
And first I hear the terror of her living laugh,
Until she says: "Once I sat cross-legged
On a flower floating over the void;
And I learned a certain stillness, silence;
I learned the words that cut through cloth and skin.
I have nine lifetimes, would be honoured still
To see you trip over one of the worst."
She has no patience for poetry as cant
But lives a Grecian epic as a sonnet.
Baying 3: Yahweh
No hands -- no feet -- no loins -- no mouth -- All geist,
This ageless king who haunts the jealous sky,
The clouds that hang, a tortured arm's reach away
From the arid desert of their humble caves.
Beneath the miasma the pilgrims groan,
Their bodies formed by the twists of their machines:
Nameless devices -- shrouded under tents --
Unsanctioned sight of which is said to blind.
