The President and the Flying Horse "Barack"
"Barack" Muhammad's flying horse and the origin of the myth: marychristinalove.wordpress.com The strange thing here is that this fantastic story contradicts a number of the tenets of islam: How can a man of flesh and blood ascend to heaven? How can a mythical creature carry a mortal to a real destination? Questions such as these have caused orthodox muslim thinkers to conclude that the whole story of the nocturnal journey was simply Muhammads dream. Thus islam tried to go one better than the Bible. Moses only went up to Mt. Sinai, in the middle of nowhere, and drew close to heaven, whereas Muhammad went all the way up to Allah, and from Jerusalem itself. So why shouldnt we also believe that the al-aqsa mosque is in Jerusalem? One good reason is that the people of Mecca, who knew Muhammad well, did not believed this story. Only Abu Bakr, the first khalif, believed him and thus was called al-siddiq (the believer). The second reason is that islamic tradition itself tells us that al-aqsa mosque is near Mecca on the Arabian Peninsula. This was unequivocally stated in Kitab al Maghazi, a book by the muslim historian and geographer al-Waqidi (Oxford UP, 1966, vol. 3, pp. 958-9). According to al-Waqidi, there were two masjeds (places of prayer) in al-Giranah, a village between Mecca and Taif. One was the the closer mosque (al-masjid al-adana) and the other was the further mosque (al-masjid al-aqsa), and Muhammad would pray there when he was out of town. This description by al ...

Interview with Palestinian farmer shot in Shoka, Gaza Strip Part 1
Another farmer injured by Israeli army whilst working in his field On Friday 5th June 2009, Khaled Ismail Mohammed Jahjuh was shot in his lower spine by the Israeli army as he was leaving his fields in the village of Shoka in Rafah. Khaled had been working in his fields which are located 1.5 kilometers from the Israeli border, together with his seven year old son Ahmed, since the early morning. At around 10 am they loaded the crops on their jeep and as soon as they started to drive an explosive bullet measuring 800 millimeters, was shot which entered the jeep through the left side door, passed through the driver's seat and entered Khaled's body. Families living in Shoka witnessed the incident and reported seeing an Israeli army hammer shoot. The bullet has damaged Khaled's nerve system leaving him with a dropped foot and unable to walk. The exit wound on his back is too large to be closed. He will require a year and a half to recover if the operations are successful. His 7 years old son Ahmed is now suffering from psychological problems. Khaled's field used to consist of 225 trees ranging from oranges to olives. During the massacre on Gaza earlier this year, the Israeli Army entered Rafah and destroyed most of these trees. Only 10 trees were spared. Khaled is the 18th person to be injured whilst working in fields close to the border (in addition to 3 Palestinians killed) since the end of the massacre in Gaza which ISM is aware of. We set out, and we had covered some distance on the way, when our journey-food and provision ran short. So Abu Ubayda ordered that all the food present with the troops be collected, and it was collected. Our journey-food was dates, and Abu Ubayda kept on giving us our daily share from it little by little until it decreased to such an extent that we did not receive except a date each. I (Jabir) asked: "How did you survive on one date?" He said: "We came to know its value when even that finished." Jabir added: "Then we reached the sea (coast) where we found a fish like a small mountain. The people (ie troops) ate from it for 18 nights (ie days). Then Abu Ubayda ordered that two of its ribs be fixed on the ground (in the form of an arch) and that a she-camel be ridden and passed under them. So it passed under them without ...

ISM: Demonstrace, při které byli postřeleni Bianca Zammit, Niadal Al Naji a Hind Al Akra
Zhruba 150 neozbrojených demonstrantů protestovalo dne 24.04.2010 v Marghazi v Gaze proti širokému hraničnímu pásmu, které zabírá 30 % úrodné zemědělské půdy. Při demonstraci byli postřeleni ostrými náboji dva Palestinci, Niadal Al Naji a Hind Al Akra, a aktivistka ISM z Malty, Bianca Zammit.
