Alan Butts is a bullpen catcher for the Atlanta Braves baseball team. He currently wears number 55.
Butts attended North Clayton High School and then Valdosta State University, receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Public Relations-Speech Communications. While with Valdosta, he played under coach Tommy Thomas.
He currently resides in Newnan, Georgia. His nephew, Brett Butts, was drafted by the Atlanta Braves and pitches in their farm system.
In 1992, Butts joined the Braves. His former role was to coordinate the scouting reports of all Braves' opponents as well as take part in other pre-game preparations. He served as a liaison between the Braves' advance scout and the team itself, helping the team prepare for each series. During each game, he aids the bullpen coach and pitchers in the bullpen. He currently serves as the team's bullpen catcher.
He was a bullpen catcher on Bobby Cox's NL team at the All-Star Game in 2000, also pitching in the Home Run Derby.
Benedict Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch (born 19 July 1976) is an English film, television, radio and theatre actor. His most acclaimed roles include Stephen Hawking in the BBC drama Hawking (2004); William Pitt in the historical film Amazing Grace (2006); the protagonist Stephen Ezard in the miniseries thriller The Last Enemy (2008); Paul Marshall in Atonement (2007); Bernard in Small Island (2009); Sherlock Holmes in the modern BBC adaptation series Sherlock (2010); and Peter Guillam in the spy thriller Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (2011).
In February 2011, he began playing both Victor Frankenstein and his creature opposite Jonny Lee Miller in Danny Boyle's stage adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. The play had a three-month run at the National Theatre. In late 2011, he played Major Stewart in Steven Spielberg's War Horse (2011). The film received five BAFTA nominations and six Academy Award nominations, including the Best Picture nomination in 2012. He also played Peter Guillam, one of the pivotal roles in Tomas Alfredson's Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy (2011), which was nominated for three Academy Awards and 11 BAFTA Awards. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy was also nominated for Best Picture in 2012.
Alan Scott Pardew (born 18 July 1961 in Wimbledon, London) is an English football manager and former player who has managed Newcastle United since 2010.
His highest achievements in the sport include reaching the FA Cup Final twice, as a player with Crystal Palace in 1990 and as a manager with West Ham United in 2006, though he ended up on the losing side both times. He has also achieved promotion three times in his career, as a player with Crystal Palace and as a manager with Reading and West Ham. He managed Southampton to victory in the Football League Trophy in 2010. As Newcastle's manager, he won both the Premier League Manager of the Season and the LMA Manager of the Year awards after guiding the Magpies to European football for the first time since the club's return to the Premier League.
Pardew started his career as a part-time player in non-League football at Whyteleafe and Epsom & Ewell, whilst working as a glazier and a cab driver. He grew up as a Fulham fan and at one stage he gave up football for six months whilst working in the Middle East, but he returned to football at Corinthian Casuals before later having spells at Dulwich Hamlet and Yeovil Town. Pardew was also in the England Semi-Professional squad during this time.
