The BBC reports David Coulthard has officially retired from competitive racing after this weekend's DTM event in Hockenheim. The driver wrapped up three seasons and 33 races with Mercedes-Benz, but saw his final professional event cut short by contact with Timo Schneider. The collision spun Coulthard and put him out of the race. Schneider received a ...

Car reports Mercedes-Benz may be considering expanding its G-Class line to include a new, smaller model. The so-called GLG would serve as a competitor for the upcoming, next-generation Land Rover Defender. Internally, the smaller G wears the code name X156 and will be based on the A-Class architecture. Expect to see styling lifted straight from the larger ...

Mercedes-Benz has been running its new, and most certainly badass, SLS AMG Black Series around the Nürburgring of late, doing the sort of high-speed and handling tests that such supercars require to be perfectly super. Getting the bugs worked out is a good thing though, as these scary images caught by our spy photographers make clear. This ...

Brabus has completed its makeover program for the Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake, with resultant menu ranging from a quick spruce to an all-day overhaul good for 619 horsepower, 737 pound-feet of torque and a top speed of 200 miles per hour. An aero kit is involved, naturally, and if you thought the slippery wagon was finicky looking before, the Brabus ...

Spy photographers have sussed up a few images of the next Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG hustling around the Nürburgring. Given the strategic cladding stuck to the performance sedan's nose and tail, odds are buyers will see a facelifted version of the mightiest E-Class show up on dealer lots very soon. When it does, the AMG will feature a new fascia, complete ...

In the battle for luxury car dominance, BMW has managed to hold on to its place at the top of the pile, for now. Global sales rose 14.3 percent last month, to 146,843 units, on strong sales in China and global sales of the 1 Series small car (pictured). That brings BMW's sales through nine months up 8.6 percent, to 1.11 million vehicles. Meanwhile Audi ...

Last week, Daimler announced that it would be sticking with R-134a refrigerant in its cars due to some tests it conducted that showed the newer, more environmentally friendly R-1234yf ignited in certain crash tests. Apparently, this R-134a replacement had already been installed in the 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class, so the automaker is electing to issue a ...

Back in July, Mercedes-Benz officially confirmed plans for an all-new compact crossover, and now we're finally getting our first look at the new model to be called the GLA-Class. Based on the same platform used for the new A-Class and B-Class models, the GLA-Class will go up against the BMW X1. From these spy shots, it looks like the GLA will get a ...

Mercedes-Benz has whipped up a special edition of its SLS AMG GT3 customer racecar to mark the 45th anniversary of the very first SL model. The company plans to build no more than five examples, each stitched together by hand in Affalterbach. A philosophical question from your automotive enthusiast future: does a supercar need to make noise in order to be a supercar? The easy answer might be no. If they're more powerful, do everything faster, attract the opposite sex, cost a gang of money and look better in orange than actual oranges, what more are you looking for? Then watch the blue chrome, ...
