Pharaoh
Pharaoh is a title used in many modern discussions of the ancient Egyptian rulers of all periods. The title originates in the term ‘’pr-aa’’ which means ‘’great house’’ and describes the royal palace. The title of Pharaoh started being used for the king during the New Kingdom, specifically during the middle of the eighteenth dynasty. Usimare Ramesses III (also written Ramses and Rameses) was the second Pharaoh of the Twentieth Dynasty and is considered to be the last great New Kingdom king to wield any substantial authority over Egypt. He was the son of Setnakhte and Queen Tiy-merenese. Ramesses III is believed to have reigned from March 1186 to April 1155 BC. This is based on his known accession date of I Shemu day 26 and his death on Year 32 III Shemu day 15, for a reign of 31 years, 1 month and 19 days. Ramesses IX (also written Ramses) (originally named 'Amon-her-khepshef Khaemwaset' (1129 – 1111 BC) was the eighth king of the Twentieth dynasty of Egypt. He was the third longest serving king of this Dynasty after Ramesses III and Ramesses XI. He is now believed to have assumed the throne on I Akhet day 21 based on evidence presented by Jürgen von Beckerath in a 1984 GM article. According to Papyrus Turin 1932+1939, Ramesses IX enjoyed a reign of 18 Years and 4 months and died in his 19th Year in the first month of Peret between day 17 and 27. His throne name, Neferkare Setepenre, means "Beautiful Is The Soul of Re, Chosen of Re." Ramesses IX is believed to be the son of Montuherkhopshef, a son of Ramesses III since Montuherkhopshef's wife, the lady Takhat, bears the prominent title of King's Mother; no other 20th dynasty king had a mother with this name.

Usermaatre Meryamun Setepenre Ramesses VII (also written Ramses and Rameses) was the sixth pharaoh of the 20th dynasty of Ancient Egypt. Khepermare Ramesses X (also written Ramses and Rameses) (ruled c. 1111 BC – 1107 BC) was the ninth ruler of the 20th dynasty of Ancient Egypt. His birth name was Amonhirkhepeshef. It is uncertain if his reign was 3 or 4 Years, but there is now a strong consensus among Egyptologists that it did not last as long as 9 Years, as was previously assumed. His prenomen or throne name, Khepermaatre, means "The Justice of Re Abides." He was possibly a son of Ramesses IX and husband of Tyti, but this is unproven. Ramesses XI
Ramesses XI (also written Ramses and Rameses) reigned from 1107 BC to 1078 BC or 1077 BC and was the tenth and final king of the Twentieth dynasty of Egypt. He ruled Egypt for at least 29 years although some Egyptologists think he could have ruled for as long as 30 years. The latter figure would be up to 2 years beyond this king's highest known date of Year 10 of the Whm-Mswt era or Year 28 of his reign. One scholar, Ad Thijs, has even suggested that Ramesses XI reigned as long as 33 years—such is the degree of uncertainty surrounding the end of his long reign. He was, perhaps, the son of Ramesses X by Queen Tyti who was a King's Mother. He married both Baketwernel a King's Sister, and Tentamun, the daughter of Nebseny, with whom he fathered Henuttawy--the future wife of the high priest Pinedjem I.

Sea Peoples
The Sea Peoples is the term used for a confederacy of seafaring raiders of the second millennium BC who sailed into the eastern Mediterranean, caused political unrest, and attempted to enter or control Egyptian territory during the late 19th dynasty and especially during Year 8 of Ramesses III of the 20th Dynasty. The Egyptian Pharaoh Merneptah explicitly refers to them by the term "the foreign-countries (or 'peoples'As noted by Gardiner V.1 p.196, other texts have N25:X1*Z4 "foreign-peoples"; both terms can refer to the concept of "foreigners" as well. Zangger in the external link below expresses a commonly held view that "sea peoples" does not translate this and other expressions but is an academic innovation. Tomb KV1, located in the Valley of the Kings in Egypt, was used for the burial of Pharaoh Ramesses VII of the Twentieth Dynasty. Although it has been open since antiquity, it was only properly investigated and cleared by Edwin Brock in 1984 and 1985. The single corridor tomb itself is located in Luxor's West Bank, and is small in comparison to other tombs of the twentieth dynasty.

Tomb KV11 is the tomb of Ancient Egyptian Pharaoh Ramesses III. Located in the main valley of the Valley of the Kings, the tomb was originally started by Setnakhte, but abandoned when it broke into the earlier tomb of Amenmesse (KV10). KV4
KV4 is a tomb in the Valley of the Kings (Egypt). The tomb was initiated for the burial of Ramesses XI but it is likely that its construction was abandoned and that it was never used for Ramesses's internment. It also seems likely that Pinedjem I intended to usurp this tomb for his own burial, but that he too abandoned the plan. KV4 is notable for being the last royal tomb that was quarried in the Valley and because it has been interpreted as being a workshop used during the official dismantling of the royal necropolis in the early Third Intermediate Period.

The song is by Mohamed Maged, sung in ancient Egyptian, based on a 3000 year old (20th dynasty) hieroglyphic text. www.youtube.com Maged is a fantastic musician. Go and check him out and buy his stuff! His video version, however, has a faulty English translation of the poem, (which is from the Papyrus Chester Beatty 1) . This version gives the translation made by Egyptologist Alan Gardner in 1931. There is yet another alternative, full, translation, by Alan Humm, here: jewishchristianlit.com Each translation verion mentions 'white breasts', much to the annoyance of aftocentrists, who try to suggest that it is addessed to a divinity. Clearly it is part of a lovers dialogue, so the idea that it is addressed to a divinity is spurious. One would also be unlikely to praise a goddess for not being a chatterbox, or to comment on how she turns heads in the street! The 'hair of lapis-lasuli' reference evidently alludes to the way raven hair can look blue in certain lights. There is also a later verse 'she lassos me with her hair' obviously suggesting long flowing hair. The poem is quite oviously addressed to an Egyptian beauty of fair complexion, so I have accompanied it with appropriate images from Pharaonic and Classical Egypt, a few images from 19th century orientalist paintings, and photos of attractive modern Egyptian females who fit the bill. Some of the first lines of the Ancient Egyptian so-called 'Tale of Sinuhe' drawn by a 1980's HP ColorPro pen plotter by the programme Glyph for Windows. The Tale of Sinuhe is a work of Ancient Egyptian literature. It is a narrative set in the aftermath of the death of Pharaoh Amenemhat I, founder of the 12th dynasty of Egypt, in the early 20th century BC. The HP ColorPro pen plotter is a computer printing device from the 1980's for printing vector graphics. It prints by moving a pen across the surface of a piece of paper, much like a human hand does. This means it is restricted to line art. To be able to draw all sorts of shapes the pen needs to be able to move across the paper on an X and Y axis. The HP line of pen plotters have a specific design where the pen moves along one axis, and the paper moves along the other axis ('grit wheel' mechanism). The pen is mounted on a carriage that moves back and forth in a line between the grit wheels, representing the orthogonal axis. Now I'm up on the sundeck of our ship, where it is finally cool, admiring the crescent moon, listening to serenading crickets and awakening roosters, and reflecting on the past couple of days. Weather has been beastly hot -- about 20 degrees over average for this time of year -- and somehow that seems to have added to the surreal experience of exploring ancient Egypt. We started in Cairo last Friday evening, walked the Great Pyramids of Giza and Saqqara on Saturday, then visited the Egyptian Museum and the amazing trove of gold-covered artifacts from King Tut's tomb on Sunday. After a fun lunch at a local koshery "diner", we flew to Luxor. Ancient Egypt had two natural centers of power -- north and south. Everything here has always owed its existence to the Nile. Abusir (Egyptian pr wsjr; busiri, the House or Temple of Osiris; Greek: Βούσιρις; Arabic: ابوصير) is the name given to an Egyptian archaeological locality -- specifically, an extensive necropolis of the Old Kingdom period, together with later additions -- in the vicinity of the modern capital Cairo. The name is also that of a neighbouring village in the Nile Valley, from whence the site takes its name. Abusir is located several kilometres north of Saqqara and, like it, served as one of the main elite cemeteries for the ancient Egyptian capital city of Memphis. Several other villages in northern and southern Egypt are named Abusir or Busiri. Abusir is one relatively small segment of the extensive "pyramid field" that extends from north of Giza to below Saqqara, the locality of Abusir took its turn as the focus of the prestigious western burial rites operating out of the then-capital of Memphis during the Old Kingdom 5th Dynasty. Tutankhamun, approx. 1341 BC -- 1323 BC was an Egyptian pharaoh of the 18th dynasty (ruled c.1333 BC -- 1323 BC in the conventional chronology), during the period of Egyptian history known as the New Kingdom. His original name, Tutankhaten, means "Living Image of Aten", while Tutankhamun means "Living Image of Amun". In hieroglyphs, the name Tutankhamun was typically written Amen-tut-ankh, because of a scribal custom that placed a divine name at the beginning of a phrase to show appropriate reverence. He is possibly also the Nibhurrereya of the Amarna letters, and likely the 18th dynasty king 'Rathotis' who, according to Manetho, an ancient historian, had reigned for nine years — a figure which conforms with Flavius Josephus's version of Manetho's Epitome. On 4th November 1922, the British archaeologist Howard Carter discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun intact. It was 3300 years old! Taywoona Qaia is a black SE stallion. By Dynasty Qatama (AK Sirhalima x Arabian Park Exquisite. Out of Samiha (Arabian Park Faraz x Arabian Park Sensation). He has a very strong black pedigree & has produced black progeny, including progeny in the Middle East. Please excuse the poor quality of this video as I had never used a video camera before, it was filmed over two days (19th & 20th of October 2010). It doesn't give a true indication of his powerful movement as on the first day I was alone & on the second day I only had one other bag waver!! We have had a terrible winter this year after 14 years of drought, all my yards & stables have been flooded, which isn't nice. It has been terribly cold & very very wet. I feel that in this video Qaia isn't carrying enough weight, however since this video was made he has put on condition. His feet were to long as farrier was unable to attend due to weather conditions, but are looking neat & tidy now!! Qaia has been shown at A Grade level for Championships & Supremes. Those progeny that have been shown, have also won in the show ring. Qaia's progeny have been animprovement on both the mare & Qaia, with excellent legs & toplines, good legs & feet, floating movement & beautiful heads with lovely eyes. I own the CD this song comes from, so I hope this doesn't voilate copyright, if so I will take the clip down & use other music. Please contact me for any further information.

Tracing the Amorites migration from Hejaz to the Levant. The western Semitic speaking Amorites sprung out Arabia in waves of tribal federations roaming the desert/semidesert region between the Euphrates in the west and the Mediterrianean sea in the East. They were restricted from Mesopotamia by their Eastern Semitic kinsmen, the Akkadians. The Amorites of the Nroth will settle the highlands and later fall under Hittie influence, after the fall of the Hittites they will emerge as the highlanders (Arameans). The Amorites of Western Canaan will establish the coastal Canaanite towns that will later evolve into Phoenicia and Philistia. The third group of the Amorites were the East Cannanites (lowlanders) concentrated along the Euphrates, mainly following the water and pasture in the midwest Euphrates region. The Meso-Akkadians regarded the Amorites as an uncivilized unproductive group because they didn't have a harvest they can loot or a town to sack to supply their growing empire. To them the Amorites were troublesome Nomadic shepherds a people with no submission and no house in a lifetime! The Amorites viewed the Akkadians as the oppressive imperial power that controlled their only source for survival; the Euphrates water and the needed pasture for their livestock. The Eighteenth, Nineteenth, and Twentieth Dynasties of ancient Egypt are often combined under the group title, New Kingdom. This dynasty is considered to be the last one of the New Kingdom of Egypt, and was followed by the Third Intermediate Period.

Background
Pharaoh Setnakhte was likely already middle aged when he took the throne after Queen Twosret. He only ruled for a short time when he was succeeded by his son Ramesses III. Egypt was threatened by the Sea Peoples during this time period, but Ramesses III was able to defeat this confederacy from the Near East. The king is also known for a harem conspiracy in which Queen Tiye attempted to assassinate the king and put her son Pentawere on the throne. The coup was not successful in the end. The king may have died from the attempt on his life, but it was his legitimate heir Ramesses IV who succeeded him to the throne. After this a succession of kings named Ramesses take the throne, but none would truly achieve greatness.
Tomb robbing
The period of these rulers is notable for the beginning of the systematic robbing of the Royal Tombs. Many surviving administrative documents from this period are records of investigations and punishment for these crimes, especially in the reigns of Ramses IX and Ramses XI.
Decline
As happened under the earlier Nineteenth Dynasty, this group struggled under the effects of the bickering between the heirs of Ramesses III. For instance, three different sons of Ramesses III are known to have assumed power as Ramesses IV, Ramesses VI and Ramesses VIII respectively. However, at this time Egypt was also increasingly beset by a series of droughts, below-normal flooding levels of the Nile, famine, civil unrest and official corruption – all of which would limit the managerial abilities of any king. The power of the last king, Ramesses XI, grew so weak that in the south the High Priests of Amun at Thebes became the effective defacto rulers of Upper Egypt, while Smendes controlled Lower Egypt even before Ramesses XI's death. Smendes would eventually found the Twenty-First dynasty at Tanis.
