He met with his counterpart in Seoul to boost military relations between the two countries. New Zealand defense minister Wayne Mapp met his South Korean counterpart in Seoul on Tuesday to boost bilateral military relations. Mapp arrived in South Korea on Saturday to attend a memorial service for the soldiers of the British Commonwealth of Nations during the Korean War and to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Imjin River and Gapyeong battles. Mapp was greeted by Kim and South Korea's honor guards in traditional costume at Seoul's defense ministry before the two ministers had their meeting. About 95000 soldiers from the UK, Australia, Canada and New Zealand were engaged in the 1950-53 Korean War, leaving 7500 dead, injured or missing. Mapp plans to leave South Korea on Tuesday.

Iroquois helicopter crash about 30km north of Wellington (Paekakariki hill, Pukerua Bay). Broadcast during "Q+A" (ANZAC Day special). Eyewitness reports describe the weather condition as "extremely misty". ======================= The three servicemen killed on impact have been named as: Flying Officer Daniel Stephen Gregory, pilot (28) Flight Lieutenant Hayden Peter Madsen, pilot (33) Corporal Ben Andrew Carson, helicopter crewman, (25).
