Lake Velence is the second largest lake in Hungary. It is a popular holiday destination among Hungarians. The lake has an area of 26 km2., one third of which is covered by the common reed. OCTOBER FREEZE!!!! Flashmobs on the Global Action Day For Decent Work On 7th of October 2009. in 12 towns and cities in Hungary - on the initiative and in the organization of the Federation of Hungarian Metalworkers Trade Union - we organized flashmob actions to draw people's attention to the dangers of precarious work and that of employment as hired workforce. During the flashmobs - in Budapest, Debrecen, Dunaújváros, Eger, Győr, Kecskemét, Komárom, Pápa, Székesfehérvár, Szombathely, Veszprém and Zalaegerszeg - young and not so young TU activists 'froze' ( stood motionless ) for 2 minutes while 2 or 3 other activists from the group handed out leaflets ( IMF leaflet and another composed by MSZOSZ ) to passers-by. All over Hungary more than 400 activists took part in the actions. They reported that the flashmobs were really sucsessful: passers by stopped to ask them what was going on, and really showed their interest. Péter Pataky, president of MSZOSZ ( Confederation of Hungarian Trade Unions ) also 'froze' in the Budapest flashmob. The main organizers ( Herta Meyer - VASAS-, Ákos Molnár - VASAS- and Zoltán Mező- VASAS- ) would like to thank every participant and every trade union that took part in and supported the actions: Hungarian Metalworkers' Trade Union (VASAS) Confederation of Hungarian Trade Unions (MSZOSZ) Audi Hungária Independent Trade Union Federation of Wood Processing and Building Workers' Trade Union Trade Union of Meat Processing Industry Workers ...

Székesfehérvár is a city in central Hungary, located around 65 km (40 mi) southwest of Budapest. It is inhabited by 101973 people (2010), with 136995 in the Székesfehérvár Subregion. The city is the centre of Fejér county and the regional centre of Central Transdanubia. In the Middle Ages the city was a royal residence and was one of the most important cities of Hungary. 37 kings and 39 queen consorts were crowned, 15 rulers have been buried here, the diets were held and the crown jewels were kept here. The Hungarian town was founded in 972 by High Prince Géza on four islands in the moors of the streams Gaja and Sárvíz. He also had a small stone castle built. Székesfehérvár was first mentioned in a document by the Bishopric of Veszprém, 1009, as Alba Civitas. St. Stephen granted town rights to the settlement, surrounded the town with a plank wall, had a provosty and a school built and under his rule the construction of the basilica began (it was built between 1003 and 1038). The settlement had about 3500 inhabitants at this time and was the royal seat for hundreds of years. 43 kings were crowned in Székesfehérvár (the last one in 1526) and 15 kings were buried here (the last one in 1540). In the 12th century the town prospered, churches, monasteries and houses were built. It was an important station on the pilgrim road to the Holy Land. Andrew II issued the Golden Bull here in 1222.
