I am Korean American - Identity1
Whether in America or Korea, second generation Korean-Americans are labeled 'outsiders.' Although their passports may say they are American, they are still seen as 'immigrants.' Though they are Koreans in appearance, they are seen as 'foreigners' in the eyes of native Koreans. Are second generation Korean-Americans Koreans or Americans? An even more difficult question is, how should half-Koreans identify themselves? The struggle over the issue of their identity is not easily understood by their parents or even friends. The question of one's cultural identity can only be answered by the individual alone. The answers to these questions vary greatly among second generation Korean-Americans. In this episode, Korean-Americans share their hardships and how they have overcome the struggles to find their own answers to these difficult questions.

Korean-American Subculture in Korea
There are tons of Korean-Americans (aka gyopos) in Korea. Tons. And I'm one of them. The thing is everyone seems to know each other. If you meet someone new, you're bound to know a mutual friend. I kind of hated the fact that my world was so small, but it's ok now. I realized it's just a part of my life and part of who I am :) gyopokeith.com http facebook.com

I am Korean American - Culture 1
"If first generation Korean-Americans formed communities in order to help one another survive with their poor English skills, second generation Korean-Americans have come together to 'prosper'." Having been born and raise in the United States, second generation Korean-Americans have naturally absorbed and internalized American culture. However, they have also been influenced by their parents to experience and absorb Korean culture as well. How can we define this unique hybrid culture? Second generation Korean-Americans have formed 'fenced communities' in order to share and celebrate the unique culture they have created for themselves. What do they find inside these fenced communities and what kind of culture are they creating? In this episode, we explore various social communities that second generation Korean-Americans have established. Among the most well-known communities are 'NetKal' - a community of second generation Korean-American leaders who have achieved success in American society, 'IAMKOREANAMERICAN' - a website on which Korean-Americans from across the United States come together to share their life stories, and 'Kollaboration' - an organization dedicated to bringing the Asian-American talents into the mainstream entertainment industry

Stop Your Racism 2: Korean Americans Model Immigrants?
This video deals with anti-Latino, anti-immigrant sentiment, which is only one facet of our exploration of the illegal immigration issue. A man approached us when we were interviewing Latino residents of Manassas, Virginia at "Liberty Wall." Liberty Wall is the remaining wall of a demolished house in Old Town Manassas where the owner put a banner protesting the Prince William County's Immigration Resolution (which has since been repealed). In our video, "Stop Your Racism Against Hispanics" the man shouted "Learn English" at the Latino people gathered there. Annabel, who is Korean-American, had a conversation with him about a Korean man in Manassas named "Mr. Soo" who is held up as the good immigrant who did it right. This video shows that conversation and Annabel's thoughts about it the next day. To see the remainder of the confrontation, watch our first Liberty Wall video: "Stop Your Racism To Hispanics."

Mr. Lee's North Korean American Heritage (Korean subtitles)
Born in Pyongyang, Mr. Lee left as a refugee of the Korean War to South Korea at age 13 in 1950, with his father and brother, leaving his mother behind. Because of diplomatic tensions that continue today, Mr. Lee was only able to visit North Korea in 1989 to visit his mother's grave, too late to see his mother alive. Saemsori shares his story to educate the American public about the need to have a safe, transparent channel for reunions brokered by the US government and is working to introduce a comprehensive bill creating such a program for the more than 100000 Korean Americans still waiting to contact their relatives. Here Mr. Lee talks about his pride in his North Korean heritage.
