Olympic Rock Paper Scissors (Classroom Physical Activity Breaks)
Carlos Rodriguez and students of Rogers Street Academy demonstrate this non-elimination, competitive, active Rock Paper Scissors. This activity can be done with traditional rock paper scissors or the full body rock paper scissors demonstrated. Rock paper scissors is an excellent method of conflict resolution for students. If a dispute or argument over a game rule happens have the students do rock paper scissors to resolve it and have them start playing again. With Physical Activity, No Need to Be an Olympian
This is the VOA Special English Health Report , from voaspecialenglish.com | http Watching the Olympics probably made some people feel a little guilty about not exercising. The truth is, if physical inactivity were a sport, a lot of us could give a gold-medal performance. To mark the London Olympics, the Lancet, a British medical journal, published a series of papers about the problem of inactivity. Public health experts say physical inactivity is the world's fourth leading cause of death. They estimate that inactivity plays a major part in six to 10 percent of deaths from non-communicable diseases. These include conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and colon and breast cancer. I. Min Lee at the Harvard School of Public Health worked with a team that studied inactivity. She says the findings are conservative and may even underestimate the problem. She says, "Physical inactivity is harmful to health, as harmful as far as deaths are concerned, as smoking." The researchers compared data on physical inactivity with disease rates in 122 countries. I. MIN LEE: says researchers considered many behaviors in their study that may be associated with increased or decreased risk of disease. She says, "For example, we know that if you are active, you probably smoke less. Additionally we factored out obesity, independent of the fact that active people also tend to weigh less." Harold Kohl is with the University of Texas School of Public Health. He also worked on the special report ...

Does Physical Activity Lead to Higher Grades?
This is the VOA Special English Education Report, from voaspecialenglish.com | http Recently we told you about a finding that more years of school could help students get higher scores on intelligence tests. That was the finding of a study of teenage males in Norway. Now, other research shows that physical activity may help students do better in their classes. The research comes as educators in some countries are reducing time for activities like physical education. They are using the time instead for academic subjects like math and reading. Researchers at VU University Medical Center in Amsterdam reviewed the results of fourteen studies. Twelve were from the United States, one from Canada and one from South Africa. The studies appeared between nineteen ninety-seven and two thousand nine. They included more than fifty-five thousand children, ages six to eighteen. Researcher Amika Singh says the studies showed a link between physical activity and scores on subjects such as math, English and reading. "Based on the results of our study we can conclude that being physically active is beneficial for academic performance." Ms. Singh offers some possible explanations. "There are, first, physiological explanations, like more blood flow, and so more oxygen to the brain. Being physically active means there are more hormones produced like endorphins. And endorphins make your stress level lower and your mood improved, which means you also perform better." Also, students involved in ...

Kid Trolled Into Doing Physical Activity
How we made this happen: My brother, Petition joined a game and advertised for free 10th. This kid messaged him back and wanted it. So basically my brother started up a private match and said it was on invite only so nobody will know what their doing. I joined off of his invite and said I was a mod (you know, all the usual stuff). To make it seem more realistic, Petition was asking how I got in and was surprised. This is a very easy way to lure people into your troll. My best troll so far! I got this kid to do pushups, army crawls, jumping jacks, and more to pass my "field sobriety test". This is truly hilarious and I hope you guys enjoy. If you like trolling videos like this one, subscribe to me and like this. I'm putting in alot of hard work for these and s you can see I've been uploading them daily. I might start livestreaming these and you guys can participate!
