How to make IRON OXIDE
Thisis my method for making Iron Oxide. In the end it's hard to tell but there was a 11.5% increase in the burn rate also I notice the color of the flame had more of a yellow color than the strait 60/40. The final mix was 60 parts KNO3 - 40 parts powderd sugar - 8 parts Iron oxide.

How to make Red Iron Oxide. (Fe2O3)
In this video I am showing you how to make high quality iron oxide from household materials. Iron Oxide is often used in pyrotechnics for a catalyst in rocketry or to make Thermite. Thermite reaction - red iron oxide (HQ)
Thermite is a pyrotechnic composition of aluminium powder and a metal oxide which produces an aluminothermic reaction known as a thermite reaction. It is not explosive, but can create short bursts of extremely high temperatures focused on a very small target for a short period of time. The aluminium reduces the oxide of another metal, most commonly iron oxide, because aluminium is highly combustible: Fe2O3 + 2Al = 2Fe + Al2O3 + Heat I had protection while doing this, and 4 buckets of water. If you try this at home, be very careful. Be sure to have good protection! The thermite in this video is made whit red iron oxide and atomized aluminium 44 µm. Im filmed this with a HD-camera, so I can upload the video it in much better quality another place soon :-) Music: H-Blocks The Power www.youtube.com Produced by: ThScience www.ThScience.no

Thermite - Iron Oxide (II) 250g
Thermite is a high-temperature incendiary composition that can successfully reach temperatures of 2500 degrees Celsius. A thermite reaction--sometimes called a "Goldschmidt reaction"--refers to the very exothermic process occurring between a metal oxide and a more reactive pure metal, such as Magnesium or Aluminium. The more reactive pure metal reduces the metal Oxide, Oxidizing itself and releasing a substantial amount of energy during the reaction. Usually the mixture is made by simply combining the ingredients, and then igniting it, which takes very high temperatures. The reaction releases so much energy, molten metal is produced as one of the products. This can often times become airborne when the reaction is sufficiently energetic, and poses major health hazards.

Exothermic Iron-Oxide and Aluminum Reaction
www.FreeScienceLectures.com A metal crucible is filled with iron-oxide and aluminum. A small amount of potassium, sugar and chloride is placed on top of iron-oxide aluminum mixture. A few drops of concentrated sulphuric acide is added to the mixture to start the reaction. The reaction extremely exothermic. The crucible becomes red hot. The aluminum has reduced the iron-oxide to iron. --- It's Never too Late to Study www.FreeScienceLectures.com --- Notice This video is copyright by its respectful owners. Mineral Pigments Part 2: Iron Oxides and D&C;/ FD&C; Colors
Please see Part 1 for the description of micas. Iron Oxides: The strongest pigment available. Used in a wide variety of cosmetics from mineral to non-minerals makeup. D&C; (Drug & Cosmetic)and FD&C; Colors (Food Drug & Cosmetic) Colors: Both are dyes that are FDA approved for use in cosmetics. Rarely if ever used in mineral makeup, you see these mostly in non-mineral makeup. Many people have allergic reaction to these dyes. My favorite suppliers, www.coastalscents.com & www.tkbtrading.com.
