Comtex CX-7E Dualband Transceiver
The radio that is sold as the Comtex CX7e is here. Cheap as chips @79euro 5w VHF, 4w UHF and 1w low power and working with the 6.25khz step so the Freenet and PMR Gang have a radio that they can use easily. DCS & CTSS Scanning to find where someone has there settings, uses the standard Wouxun / Kenwood Programming cable and software is available via the web. Dual Standby, Dual Display and either channel or frequency operation is possible. 128 memory channels for programming are available so it has a lot going for it. Some people swear at it more than swear by it so time needed to see if it works well or not. At the moment no real issues found so far. Made in China hence the price so watch back another time and we will see how or if it works well, good or bad

Comtex / Baofeng UV-3R
So what the difference between Comtex and Bidafeng? Answer about 40 euros. 32e shipped from China and 79e shipped from Germany direct. Comes with no manual at all so makes life fun but comes with a battery, belt clip, free headset mike and mains charger. Frequency coverage from 136-174 and 400-470mhz and 2 watts output. Made by an ISO certified company and also has a flashlight facility included as well as 2x antennas. One for VHF and One for UHF. Audio Quality is excellent, beyond excellent and the receive also excellent. Downside is you need a manual or a programming kit and cable or you will loose your mind. I will return with a better look when charged the unit and also seen how the programming goes. And yes noted my mistake its a Baofeng and not Bidafeng. But who cares for 32euros I guess?

Kucha Hans Comtex CS1000DX "New Version"
The new Comtex without Hannover on it has been released. V3 Board almost same as the Maas/Anytone but NOW WITH NEW MODS that take the radio to the next stage. In the past the power was made to 40FM/SSB variable and now with the addition of a fan the power now makes 50watts variable from around 1w. Many people asked about the lack of mike gain so Hans has made it. Now on the echo delay is Mike Gain while on the inside it is variable via a pot, same as echo delay this can now be adjusted internally. For drivers many told about the strong backlight. Now with HI-CUT disabled it has a new use and the display is made dimmer in my opinion by maybe 40%. External s-meter. I asked about this on Thursday and now Sunday the radio has the external s meter socket. Not so easy to do but it is there for you. There are still all the old mods but now they have been taken to the next stage and who knows with Hans? Maybe there will be more to come. From tomorrow when have time the Comtex will be on air hitting the stations and see how she performs. And remember, JACKSON DYNASTY are on air from 5-6 Feb 2011 with stations in Austria, Czech Republic and around Germany. If you have conditions take a listen for them,,, some maybe use these radios? 23.01.2011 will be remembered as the day that HM Funk made the Comtex into the radio that it could have been. Conditions were poor today so was hard to do a lot but let us hope for some conditions and see how this baby performs......

Comtex CT-6000DX / Optima II
Oh well am sad to upload this but those who asked me can see now a new radio from the box. Warranty sealed and QC'd by someone who has medical or mental issues in China to have passed this one OK. We all beta test new Albrecht models as they are next to useless when first released and now it seems we need to beta test Optima's. Control which fell off, no variable power, no SSB power at all on anywhere the radio transmits. I have tried and tried to make it work, obviously there is a warranty sticker so not poking inside at all. Not even a good vodoo man could bring joy this radio. Back to the dealer, maybe he can replace or repair. Moral of story, check the new toys guys. BUT on the other side, AM/FM audio was magic from the standard mike. No complaints was really good. I was so paranoid i tested it again and again and read the manual to make sure it had variable RF Power and that it export enabled. RIP Till repaired or replaced :( Personally i like the radio and normally they are working well, and indeed some issues from a past MK II are not with this one, hmm but also on the other other hand you expect some power from the radio.

Kucha Hans Comtex Hi/Low Backlight Test
The New Comtex with V3 Board has now more modifications from Kucha Hans and the last video did not show the hi/low backlight option very well as was daylight. And for the people that want pink, blue, magenta displays then am sure hans can make this for you also but remember 24 SMD components of the smallest size need replacing and the cost can or could be quite high.

Comtex CT-270H
Here is the Comtex another of the budget radios that are on the dual band market. Infact a re-badged TYT1000 and you really do need the software to make this work to the best of its needs. Without it and with a manual, forget it. Works on 446mhz as it has the 6.25khz step and also works freenet top end of 149mhz if needed. 125 programmable channels, DTMF, 1750 tone, 2 tone, 5 tone, Digital FM Radio with software storage of 25 memories. 7.4v 1300mAh battery and on the whole a nice radio only let down by the fact that it needs the programming software and then you are away. UPDATE: Battery is 1500mAh and the radio comes with a drop in charger and also a 12v cigarette lighter adapter to charge the drop in on the road but does not come with data cable and does not come with the software for programming. Works on XP and also Windows 7 Ultimate after some changes made around the port speed.

Premium Announces Filing of New Technical and First Pit-Constrained Resource Estimate for the Friday-Petsite Gold Deposit, Idaho
http://www.marketwatch.com/story/premium-announces-filing-of-new-technical-and-first-pit-constrained-resource-estimate-for-the-friday-petsite-gold-deposit-idaho-gold-project-usa-2012-08-16
VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, Aug 16, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Premium Exploration Inc. CA:PEM +6.67% (otcqx:PMMEF) ("Premium" or the "Company") announces that it has filed on SEDAR a new technical report entitled "Technical Report, Idaho Gold Project" for its gold project in Idaho (the "New Technical Report"). The New Technical Report was prepared by independent consultant, GeoSim Services Inc. (Ronald G. Simpson, P.Geo.) and is dated August 15th, 2012 with effective date of May 31, 2012.
The New Technical Report addresses concerns raised by the British Columbia Securities Commission (the "BCSC") as disclosed in the Company's news release of March 14, 2012. The New Technical Report provides an update on the Idaho gold project and a current mineral resource estimate under National Instrument 43-101 ("NI 43-101") for the Friday Zone. As previously noted in Premium's March 14, 2012 news release, the resource estimate disclosed in the Company's technical report on the Idaho gold project filed on September 30, 2011 should not be relied upon.
The New Technical Report provides the first economically driven pit-constrained resource estimate for the Friday-Petsite gold deposit is based on legacy data and Premium Exploration 2009-2010 drilling.
The new indicated and inferred mineral resource estimates reported herein are contained within a resource-limiting open-pit shell along 1000 meters of strike in two zones; Main Zone and North Zone.
Mineralization delineated by Premium in between the North and Main Zones as well as directly adjacent to the north, south, and beneath the pit shell remains as a quantity and grade of a potential mineral deposit and should not be considered a mineral resource. The potential mineral deposit may be included in future resource estimates if additional drilling proves such estimates in accordance with NI 43-101.
Additional step-out drilling completed in 2011 along the Friday zone extends the mineralization to the north, south, and at depth of the mineral resources reported herein for a total mineralized strike length of 1700 meters and continues to remain open along strike and depth. The drill holes, being widely spaced, were not included in this resource estimation.
Later in 2012, Premium Exploration plans to conduct an infill drill program. Subject to financing and permitting, drilling will also focus in areas where prior drilling has indicated the potential for extension of mineralization which is supported by airborne geophysical and gold-in-soil anomalies.
Quality Assurance/Quality Control, Mineral Resource Estimation Parameters and Qualified Persons
Premium Exploration maintains a QA/QC program using best industry practices at the Friday-Petsite Property. The program includes chain of custody of samples, drill core sawn in half and shipped in sealed bags, blind duplicates, blank samples and certified standards are inserted in the sample stream. The samples are then boxed and couriered to Acme Analytical Laboratories of Vancouver, B.C. a lab certified for the provision of assays and geochemical analyses (iso 9001:2008). Samples with gold values greater than 10 g/t are re-analyzed via the metallic screen procedure. Samples with visible gold were also analyzed initially using the metallic screen analysis, as were the samples immediately preceding and following the sample with visible gold. ALS Chemex is the check laboratory for the program.
The mineral resource estimate is based on a geologic block model consisting of four mineralized domains and one domain representing an unmineralized dacite dyke. Gold grade estimation was carried out by the ordinary kriging method using 3 metre downhole drill composites. Gold grades were capped prior to compositing at levels ranging from 10 to 20 g/t according to domain. Classified blocks have been constrained by a Lerch-Grossman optimized pit shell using a gold price of $1,400 per ounce. Block dimensions were 10 x 20 x 10 metres with the longest dimension oriented N-S. Density values assigned to the domains are based on 637 bulk density measurements of drill core. The mineral resource is reported at a base case lower cut-off of 0.4 g/t gold. The resource is also presented at a range of cut-offs from 0.3 to 0.7 g/t gold to provide additional information of resource sensitivity to changing cut-off.
The May 2012 mineral resource estimate has been prepared by Mr. Ronald Simpson, P.Geo, President of Geosim Services Inc. and independent "Qualified Person" under National Instrument 43-101 Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Projects ("NI 43-101") who has reviewed and approved the contents of this news release.
