Linda Manzer (born July 2, 1953) is a Canadian master luthier renowned for her archtop, flat-top and harp acoustic guitars.
She received her training from Jean Larrivée between 1974 and 1978 and later studied with Jimmy D'Aquisto in Greenport, Long Island, New York.
She has built almost 20 instruments for jazz musician Pat Metheny including the Pikasso which has 42 strings and four necks. Metheny also owns several of Manzer's baritone guitars, which he plays exclusively on his album One Quiet Night along with his Pikasso on What It's All About. Many professional musicians own a guitar built by Manzer including: Julian Lage, Carlos Santana, Henrik Andersen, Stephen Fearing, Gary Larson, Milton Nascimento, Liona Boyd, Heather Bishop, Bruce Cockburn, Paul Simon, Roy Patterson, Marie-Lynn Hammond, Susan Crowe, and Gordon Lightfoot.
Manzer currently builds 12 to 18 instruments per year in her Toronto, Ontario workshop. Her instruments are priced from $18,000 for a flattop and $25,000 for an archtop.
Linda may refer to:
The guitar is a popular musical instrument classified as a string instrument with anywhere from 4 to 18 strings, usually having 6. The sound is projected either acoustically or through electrical amplification (for an acoustic guitar or an electric guitar, respectively). It is typically played by strumming or plucking the strings with the right hand while fretting (or pressing against the frets) the strings with the fingers of the left hand. The guitar is a type of chordophone, traditionally constructed from wood and strung with either gut, nylon or steel strings and distinguished from other chordophones by its construction and tuning. The modern guitar was preceded by the gittern, the vihuela, the four-course Renaissance guitar, and the five-course baroque guitar, all of which contributed to the development of the modern six-string instrument.
There are three main types of modern acoustic guitar: the classical guitar (nylon-string guitar), the steel-string acoustic guitar, and the archtop guitar. The tone of an acoustic guitar is produced by the strings's vibration, amplified by the body of the guitar, which acts as a resonating chamber. The classical guitar is often played as a solo instrument using a comprehensive finger-picking technique. The term "finger-picking" can also refer to a specific tradition of folk, blues, bluegrass, and country guitar playing in the United States.
Patrick Bruce "Pat" Metheny (/məˈθiːni/ mə-THEE-nee; born August 12, 1954) is an American jazz guitarist and composer.
He is the leader of the Pat Metheny Group and is also involved in duets, solo works and other side projects. His style incorporates elements of progressive and contemporary jazz, post-bop, Latin jazz and jazz fusion. Metheny has three gold albums and 20 Grammy Awards. He is the brother of jazz flugelhornist and journalist Mike Metheny.
Metheny was born and raised in Lee's Summit, Missouri, a suburb southeast of Kansas City. At age 15, he won a Down Beat scholarship to a one-week jazz camp and was taken under the wing of guitarist Attila Zoller. Zoller also invited the young Metheny to New York City to see the likes of Jim Hall and Ron Carter. Following his graduation from Lee's Summit High School, Metheny briefly attended the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida in 1972, where he was quickly offered a teaching position. He then moved to Boston to take a teaching assistantship at the Berklee College of Music with jazz vibraphonist Gary Burton. He first made his name as a teenage prodigy under the wing of Burton. In 1974 he made his recording debut on two sessions for pianist Paul Bley and Carol Goss' Improvising Artists label, along with fretless electric bassist Jaco Pastorius.
"Guitar Talk" is a single by Canadian country music artist Michelle Wright. Released in 1993, it was the sixth single from her album Now and Then. The song reached #1 on the RPM Country Tracks chart in January 1994.

This guitar is so much fun to play. It's like having a six string Ukelele but tuned even higher. The tone is unique and has its own appeal unlike any other instrument I've played. Since Linda Manzer made this, it will remain a collectible for many years to come. At first I was skeptical, but the more I played it the more I loved it! This little A-scale guitar is bright and chirpy, and lots of fun. Plus, when's the next time you're going to see such a small guitar with such gorgeous tonewoods? - http://www.dreamguitars.com/products/manzer/manzer_little_manzer_10401/manzer_little_manzer_10401.php

The March 2015 issue of Acoustic Guitar will feature an excerpt from Bruce Cockburn’s new memoir, Rumours of Glory, in which the Canadian singer, songwriter, and guitarist talks about why, at 23, he left ’60s-era folk-rock to focus on solo acoustic music. He’d met fingerstyle guitarist Fox Watson, who taught Cockburn how to play in alternate tunings. “I was sort of disdainful of open tunings back then because I didn’t like most of what people did with them—playing the same four chord formations in different tunings, trying for a specious variety in their sound without going to the trouble of actually learning their instrument,” Cockburn writes. “But when Fox played in any of several tunings he used, what came out was fluid as a mountain creek and agile as a gull.” That was more than four...
