The world's largest rail car, the Schnabel Car: 2090000 lbs. from Mendota to Wyanet, IL. 08/29/10
On August 29th, 2010, the world's largest rail car, known as the "Schnabel Car," (CEBX 800) ran down the BNSF Mendota Subdivision, to Galesburg, where it would make the trip to Kansas. The car carries a 675 ton, reactor vessel. Unloaded, the Schnabel car weighs in at 370 tons, equaling 740000 pounds. It contains 36 axles, 18 for each half. With the 675 ton (1350000 pounds) reactor, that brings the grand total to 2090000 pounds. Locations in this video, include Mendota, Arlington, Zearing, Malden, Princeton and Wyanet, IL. Due to federal regulations, the train was restricted to 15 MPH and was required to stop, whenever a meet with another train, would occur. BNSF ES44DC 7908 is in charge of the train, followed by Specialized Rail Transport, caboose JNSX911, the Schnabel and PHNX caboose 102. Scene 1: It took a while for the train to negotiate its way through Mendota, IL., but it made it without any problems. Scene 2: Mendota, IL. Scene 3: Arlington, IL. Scene 4: Arlington, IL. The Grain Terminal
On the far side of Red Hook Park’s soccer and baseball fields, locked-up behind a fence made of enormous concrete blocks, lays the last vestige of Red Hook's industrial grandeur: The New York Port Authority Grain Terminal.
This massive 429-foot long and 12-story high beige-colored fortress was built in 1922 for the purpose of washing, drying and storing grain from the Great Lakes, before the grain was loaded onto freight ships and delivered to breweries, distilleries and flour mills. Ultimately, the terminal was built to invigorate New York State’s Canal System and compete with railroad-owned stationary elevators.
Nevertheless, NYC’s uncompetitive labor costs and storage disputes forced the Port Authority to cease operations in 1965, after 40 years of under-use. Since then, the Grain Elevator has sat vacant and majestic on Gowanus Bay's waterfront, alongside the Erie Basin, dominating Red Hook's urban landscape.
City officials and engineers refer to the Grain Terminal as the Magnificent Mistake. However, Red Hook’s inhabitants affectionately term it one of two distinct names: “The Lady Finger,” due to its unique structure which consists of a series of 54 joined concrete semi-circular silos; or simply, the "Elevator.”
NYCitizen, my urban exploration accomplice, and I decided to pay the Lady a visit. That Sunday, the park was packed with baseball and futbol players, picnickers and street vendors. I asked a carnitas taco vendor if he knew how to get closer to the Grain Terminal. His first reaction was to tell me that the building was under government surveillance and that the coast guard was watching it as it was located right in front of an oil refinery on the other side of the Erie Canal. However, while heating up a stack of tortillas, he also told me that the easiest way to climb the concrete barricade was to scale a tree near the baseball field’s bleachers, and jump over the fence. Right...
A more realistic and less hazardous way seemed to be through the bus depot alongside the Grain Terminal. As we approached the main entrance, the security guy stopped us and asked for the reason of our visit. I said that we would like to take some pictures of the Elevator. He retorted that it was a private property but that we were welcome to do so…from the sidewalk.
As we walked along the concrete blocks desperately looking for an access point, we realized that the enormous barrier had suddenly transformed into a 3-foot high hurdle. The last and only obstacle left was a duo of State Park officers sitting on a bench, watching a baseball game in the shade. After waiting for them to leave for a couple of minutes, I realized that these two were here to stay. I decided to approach them and ask candidly if we could jump over the hurdle to snap a couple of images. Despite an obvious negative first response, my insistence won them over and the female officer told us grudgingly that they don’t want any problems. We could do so at own risks, but that they never had this conversation with us. As we dashed to the closed-off section of the Grain Terminal, the two officers decided to begin patrolling around the park.
At this point, we were only halfway there, as we still needed to get inside the actual Terminal. After running between cargo containers, we decided to stop in the transformer house and study our options. From there, the terminal looked completely hermetic. Concrete chunks blocked the doors, and windows were obstructed by metal bars and barbed wire. Graffiti on an oxidized beam gave us the gist of the challenge ahead: “How do we get in?”
Approaching one of the windows, I noticed more graffiti on the ground floor and thought, “If there’s graffiti, there must be a way to get in there.” After wandering around the building for a while and a round of seemingly impossible physical contortions, we were finally inside the Grain Terminal.
The ground floor, which seems to be the warehouse floor, looked like an old Greek temple, with immense concrete columns, long passages and adornments created by street writers. Loading railways were still fixed on the ground. Three dilapidated metal staircases were located on the Erie Canal side of the building. We climbed the middle one to access the following floor which happened to be the top-floor. A grain terminal is simply a large, empty box, where huge concrete silos separate the ground floor from the top-floor.
The penthouse was a huge open space; a massive loft filled with old machinery, boasting an unbeatable panoramic view of the surroundings. A bunch of no-smoking signs were still hanging here and there. I've read recently that grain elevators are actually explosion-proof, due to the highly flammable nature of the grain. As we investigated the top level, we zigzagged between large holes in the floor with just the right diameter to swallow a human body. These holes were actually located right on the top of the silos, and hence allowed the grain

Smoking Juice Train
The northbound Tropicana Juice Train made good time through Ashland, VA on September 20, 2008, passing by the station around 11:30 led by ES44DCs 5337 and 5478. The train made more smoke than the locomotives pulling it - an ailing refrigeration unit 6 or 7 cars from the tail end belched exhaust as it rolled through town.

Rev. In Jin Moon's Lovin' LLM Sermon, August 7, 2011
Sermon Notes, August 7, 2011
In Jin Moon
1. In Jin Nim greeted everyone. (The applause was especially enthusiastic – with all the middle school camp kids in the audience). She just got back from Las Vegas at two o'clock this morning. True Parents (True Parents) send us their greetings!
True Parents at Hoon Dok Hae in Las Vegas, August 6, 2011
2. In Jin Nim reported to True Parents about the WFWP 19th annual conference -- they were delighted to hear about it. Congratulations to the WFWP. In Jin Nim recognized Angelika Selle (President) and the team that did such a phenomenal job. The conference highlighted the beauty of women from all around the world who came to discuss how to unlock the power and beauty of relationships. In Jin Nim had the honor of being the keynote speaker at one of the morning plenary sessions. To come together in the spirit of the feminine and in the celebration of the feminine and discuss amongst themselves how they can be the agent of change to usher in the new millennium. It was an incredibly powerful and profoundly moving experience for In Jin Nim. In Jin Nim could not attend the gala in the evening which she heard was a great success (she had to fly out to Las Vegas to report to True Parents) – with lovely dancers and a comedian who brought down the roof. True Parents and (especially) True Mother were delighted to hear that the WFWP had completed its 19th conference
3. Whenever In Jin Nim visits True Parents she always is so grateful – realizing what an incredible time we are living in. She likes to say that this is the time of the breaking news. Jesus Christ brought the good news – truly helping all of humanity to understand the meaning of what it is to truly love one another and encouraging women to live an inspired and true life. But now is the time of the breaking news because now we are not only talking about understanding and substantiating and applying true love and true life in our lives but really coming to substantiate the true lineage of God – grafting on to the heavenly lineage and becoming one family under God. So – it is an incredibly exciting time for all of us here working in the Ministry
4. As we think about each Sunday and what topics and issues will be discussed – they (Lovin' Life team) are always tickled pink when they realize that so much of the inspiration comes from the enthusiasm of the young people which they show to the Lovin' Life Ministry every Sunday – and enthusiasm that is shared all around the country in 100 different satellite locations across America. "We know that when we can see and experience the inspired youth, truly encouraged in the spirit of true love – wanting to build that ideal family, society, nation, and world, we know that it is not just a dream that we are dealing with, when we think or ponder or ruminate on the topic on this beautiful world of peace, but it is something tangible, something that we are working towards each and every day, something that we can build upon starting with you and me."
5. As In Jin Nim was taking the trip to Las Vegas, on the way back going through LA they had to wait for a plane to come and replace the plane they were supposed to be on. And so they had some delay time. People started gathering in small groups and talking with each other. And In Jin Nim noticed in one corner three young teenage girls. They were beautiful girls huddled together looking at fashion magazines. Glamour, Elle, Cosmopolitan, People, Us, (and others). They were pointing at different people and things exclaiming, "I want to be like her, I want to have that, she has legs 6 miles long, her body is perfect, 36-24-32." In Jin Nim listened to their conversation – "you know, these people they have it all, they're beautiful, they have their cars, mansions, iPods and iPad's, fabulous girlfriends and boyfriends, all the designer clothes (In Jin Nim named the brands and designers – "they knew their stuff" – designer bags and shoes). When I become rich and successful these are the things that I want!"
6. These ladies were between 15 and 17. They were infused with this incredible desire – wanting the latest designer clothing and bags (In Jin Nim gave several designer names). It is interesting how, it doesn't matter where we come from, what culture we are born into, what race we belong to – in the journey through life, on the road of life where we come to understand what we are all about and who we are and what we need to do and what kind of people we need to be – there is this word that we come face-to-face with from time to time – the word 'desire.'
7. Many times we say to ourselves that we desire things. We desire all these things that we want to acquire – we desire. In Jin Nim often thinks, yes we desire all these things, we desire X – (fill in the box). But many times in life there are other things at play, not just we as individuals, but there are also supernatural things at play, there are th

This was shot with a Canon HV30 hand held and edited with Premier Pro. My first video with the camera and editing system. A little fun.
