Lev Nikolayevich Naumov (Russian: Лев Никола́евич Нау́мов; February 12, 1925, Rostov – August 21, 2005, Moscow) was a Russian classical pianist, composer and educator. Received a title of People's Artist of Russia and was nicknamed the "Godfather of the Russian piano school".

Professor Naumov studied with the legendary Heinrich Neuhaus, becoming his assistant and eventually his successor. Naumov was a professor of piano at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory and a jury member in many international competitions. Professor Naumov's studio produced some of the better-known pianists to emerge from Russia in the past 40 years. Among his students at different times were such pianists as Alexei Nasedkin, Vassily Lobanov, Anna Malikova, Vladimir Viardo, Andrei Gavrilov, Andrey Diyev, Sergei Babayan, Lola Astanova, Alexei Sultanov, Vladimir Soultanov, Alexander Kobrin, Dong-Hyek Lim, Pavel Gintov, Alexander Tselyakov, Nairi Grigorian and many others.

Heinrich Gustavovich Neuhaus (Russian: Генрих Густавович Нейгауз, Genrikh Gustavovič Nejgauz; 12 April [O.S. 31 March] 1888 – October 10, 1964) was a Soviet pianist and pedagogue of German extraction. He taught at the Moscow Conservatory from 1922 to 1964. He was made a People's Artist of the RSFSR in 1956. His pedagogic book The Art of Piano Playing (1958) is regarded as one of the most authoritative and most widely used treatments on the subject.

He was born in Elisavetgrad (known since 1939 as Kirovohrad), Ukraine. Although both his parents were piano teachers, he was largely self-taught. The biggest influences on his early artistic development came from his cousin Karol Szymanowski (tutored by another relative, Gustav Neuhaus) and especially his uncle Felix Blumenfeld on his visits to his sisters' home. He also received some lessons from Aleksander Michałowski. In 1902 he gave a recital in Elisavetgrad with the 11-year-old Mischa Elman and in 1904 gave concerts in Dortmund, Bonn, Cologne and Berlin. Subsequently he studied with Leopold Godowsky in Berlin and from 1909 until the outbreak of World War I at his master classes in Vienna Academy of Music.

Stanislav Genrichowitsch Neuhaus (Russian Станислав Генрихович Нейгауз) (born March 21, 1927 in Moscow, died January, 24th 1980 in Peredelrkino near Moscow) was a Russian classical pianist.

Neuhaus was the second son of the Russian pianist and professor at the Moscow Conservatory, Heinrich Neuhaus. He studied piano with his father from 1953 to 1957 and was one of his father's three assistants (next to Lev Naumov and Yevgeny Malinin). Neuhaus' son, Stanislav Bunin went on to became a famous pianist as well. Neuhaus died unexpectedly in 1980 at the age of 52. The International Stanislav Neuhaus Piano Competition is named in his honor.

Alexander Markovich Melnikov (born 1973) is a Russian pianist.

Born in Moscow, Melnikov began studying music at age six at Moscow’s Central Music School. He continued at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory under Lev Naumov, graduating in 1997. Later he completed his post-graduate studies in Munich with Eliso Virsaladze. He also studied with Andreas Staier and Karl-Ulrich Schnabel at the Fondazione per il Pianoforte (Lago di Como, Italy). While still at school he became a prize-winner of several major international piano competitions, including the Schumann Piano Competition in Zwickau in 1989 and the Queen Elisabeth Music Competition in Brussels in 1991. He also began his international career shortly afterwards. Since the age of 15 he has participated in numerous International Music Festivals all over the world (Schleswig-Holstein, Vervier among many others).As a recitalist he appears in halls such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, the Alte Oper in Frankfurt and Paris’s Théâtre du Châtelet etc. He has made concerto appearances with orchestras such as the Russian National, Tokyo Philharmonic, Leipzig Gewandhaus, Philadelphia (under Charles Dutoit), Rotterdam Philharmonic (under Valery Gergiev), Royal Concertgebouw, NHK Symphony and BBC Philharmonic.

George Enescu (Romanian pronunciation: [ˈd͡ʒe̯ord͡ʒe eˈnesku]; known in France as Georges Enesco; 19 August 1881, Liveni – 4 May 1955, Paris) was a Romanian composer, violinist, pianist, conductor and teacher.

Enescu was born in the village of Liveni (later renamed "George Enescu" in his honor), Dorohoi County at the time, today Botoşani County. He showed musical talent from early in his childhood. A child prodigy, Enescu created his first musical composition at the age of five. Shortly thereafter, his father presented him to the professor and composer Eduard Caudella. At the age of seven, he entered the Vienna Conservatory, where he studied with Joseph Hellmesberger, Jr., Robert Fuchs, and Sigismund Bachrich. He graduated before his 13th birthday, earning the silver medal. In his Viennese concerts young Enescu played works by Brahms, Sarasate and Mendelssohn. In 1895 he went to Paris to continue his studies. He studied violin with Martin Pierre Marsick, harmony with André Gedalge, and composition with Jules Massenet and Gabriel Fauré.
