The International Indian Film Academy Awards, also known as the IIFA Awards are presented annually by the International Indian Film Academy to honour both artistic and technical excellence of professionals in Bollywood, the Hindi language film industry. Instituted in 2000, the ceremony is held in different countries around the world every year. This award ceremony has been organised by Wizcraft International Entertainment Pvt Ltd – one of India’s premier event management and entertainment agencies - since its inception.^[1]

The first awards were presented in 2000 at The Millennium Dome in London, United Kingdom. From then on the awards were held at locations around the world signifying the international success of Bollywood. The award ceremonies are held in various places around the world:

These awards honour films from the previous calendar year. Amitabh Bachchan has been the Brand Ambassador of the IIFA until 2010 where he resigned from the post due to much controversy about holding that year's ceremony in Sri Lanka,^[2] and appointed Salman Khan.^[3] In 2009, five special awards were introduced: Star of the decade (male and female), Movie of the decade, Music of the decade, and Director of the decade.^[4]

Ranbir Kapoor (born 28 September 1982^[1]) is an Indian actor who appears in Bollywood movies.

Making his acting debut in the 2007 film Saawariya, for which he won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut, Kapoor earned positive notice for his performance in Wake Up Sid (2009). He later appeared in the romantic comedy Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani (2009) and the political thriller Raajneeti (2010), with the later being his biggest commercial success to date.^[2] In 2011, Kapoor starred and earned critical acclaim for his performance in Rockstar for which he received the Best Actor and Best Actor (Critics) awards at the Filmfare ceremony.

Early life[link]

Ranbir Kapoor, the son of actors Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh, was born into a family of Punjabi origin;^[3] his sister is Riddhima Kapoor Sahni. He is the grandson of actor and filmmaker Raj Kapoor, great grandson of Prithviraj Kapoor, nephew of actors Randhir Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor, grand-nephew of actors Shashi Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor, and first-cousin of actresses Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor. Kapoor studied at Bombay Scottish School in Mahim, Mumbai and went on to pursue method acting at The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York.^[4]

Career[link]

Before starting off his career as an actor, Kapoor appeared in two short films: Passion to Love (2002), which was also directed by him, and India 1964 (2004). He later began working as an assistant with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, where he was involved in the making of the film Black (2005).^[5] Kapoor who initially had plans of becoming an actor was later cast by Bhansali in his next directional venture, Saawariya opposite newcomer Sonam Kapoor. The film failed to do well at the box office,^[6] though his performance was largely appreciated. Kapoor was then seen in Siddharth Anand's romantic comedy Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008) alongside Bipasha Basu, Minissha Lamba and Deepika Padukone. The film was a semi-hit at the box-office.^[7]

2009 saw Kapoor appear in three movies. His first release was Ayan Mukerji's Wake Up Sid, in which he portrayed the character of Siddharth Mehra, a spoiled and self-centered college student from Mumbai. Featured opposite Konkona Sen Sharma, the film was a critical and commercial success.^[8] Shrey Patnaik wrote, "Ranbir's Sid is a near-perfect portrait of the aimless young man searching for a direction in life. Ranbir handles the character's inner life with the effortlessness of a Sitar maestro twiddling with his instrument's strings to create a music that takes the audience to a world where the sounds suggest a harmony between art and life. In Wake Up Sid, Ranbir proves once and for all that he's the future of Hindi cinema."^[9] Kapoor earned several nominations for Best Actor. He next starred alongside Katrina Kaif in Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, which surfaced as one of the biggest hits of the year.^[10]

Following this, Kapoor appeared in Shimit Amin's drama Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year. Upon release, the film received positive reviews by critics but failed to do well.^[11] Kapoor's performance was critically acclaimed, with one critic writing, "Ranbir brings to his part a whole lot of earnestness and heart. His natural and utterly contagious exuberance so much on display in his last two films Wake Up Sid and Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani is effortlessly curbed here."^[12]

In 2010, he featured in Prakash Jha's multi-starrer political thriller Rajneeti. The film opened to positive reviews and was declared a "blockbuster".^[13] His performance was well received with critic Nikhat Kazmi concluding, "The film finally belongs to Ranbir Kapoor who perfects the art of minimalism – and literally grows before your eyes – as the simmering volcano that cannot be held back, once it erupts. He's as grey and soot-filled, as volcanoes go."^[14] In the same year, Kapoor appeared alongside Priyanka Chopra in Siddharth Anand's Anjaana Anjaani which was a moderate box office success.^[13]

2011 saw Kapoor feature opposite newcomer Nargis Fakhri in Imtiaz Ali's Rockstar. The film, upon release, met with positive to mixed reviews^[15] and grossed over Rs.1 billion worldwide^[16] In a review published by CNN-IBN, Rajeev Masand wrote: "Rockstar belongs to Ranbir Kapoor over everyone else. It is a riveting performance [...] and Ranbir roots it in the real. Watch how he seizes the stage in the "Sadda Haq" number and virtually makes the track his own. For Ranbir alone, this film deserves a watch."^[17] The film earned Kapoor a Best Actor and Best Actor (Critics) award at the 2012 Filmfare awards ceremony.

As of April 2012, Kapoor is scheduled to appear in Anurag Basu's Barfee alongside Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D'Cruz and Ayan Mukherjee's Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani alongside ex-girlfriend Deepika Padukone.

Kapoor currently lives with his parents in Pali Hill in Mumbai, Maharashtra. During an interview in March 2008, he announced that he was dating Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone;^[18] the couple later broke up in 2009.^[19] In 2008, Kapoor co-hosted the 54th Filmfare Awards alongside Imran Khan; he was later chosen to co-host the 56th and 57th edition of the award ceremony alongside Imran Khan and Shah Rukh Khan respectively. During November 2010, he made an appearance on the talk show Koffee with Karan alongside Imran Khan.

Neha Dhupia (Punjabi: ਨੇਹਾ ਧੂਪੀਆ) is an Indian actress who appears in Bollywood films. She is a former beauty queen and winner of Femina Miss India 2002.

Early life[link]

Dhupia was born in Cochin, Kerala to a Punjabi Sikh family.^[1] Her father, Commander Pradip Singh Dhupia, served in the Indian Navy and mother, Manpinder, is a homemaker. She went to Naval Public School then transferred to Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan, New Delhi.^[2] She graduated from Jesus and Mary College, Delhi University majoring in History.^[3]

Dhupia made her acting debut in a play in New Delhi called Graffiti. Thereafter she appeared in a music video for Indipop band Euphoria and also modeled for various advertisement campaigns. She then appeared in the TV serial "Rajdhani ^{[disambiguation needed ]}". In 2002 she entered the Femina Miss India pageant finishing in first place, winning the Femina Miss India Universe title, and was subsequently sent to the Miss Universe 2002 pageant in Puerto Rico. She was placed in the top 10.

Dhupia made her film debut in the 2003 Bollywood film Qayamat: City Under Threat (2003), which performed averagely at the box office. She rose to fame with her role in the film Julie and then appeared in Sheesha (2005) in a dual role of twin sisters, but the film did not do well at the box office. She then starred in films such as Kyaa Kool Hai Hum (2005) and Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007), which did well at the box office, and also featured in a segment of the anthology film Dus Kahaniyaan (2007).

In the following years, Dhupia appeared in supporting roles in multiple critically and commercially acclaimed films including Chup Chup Ke (2006), Ek Chalis Ki Last Local (2007), Mithya (2008), Maharathi (2008), Singh Is Kinng (2008) and Dasvidaniya (2008). In 2011, she plays Eva Braun in the film Dear Friend Hitler -a film about Mahatma Gandhi.

Her most recent films are Paying Guest, Action Replayy De Dana Dan and Pappu cant dance sala . She has also worked on her first international project with Chris Kattan in IFC's Bollywood Hero.

Dhupia is involved with the Concern India Foundation, an NGO which assists lower income women and children as well as the elderly. She has run in the Mumbai Marathon to support the charity and helped to raise over 5 lakhs.^[4] She also helped to raise money for victims of the 2011 Sikkim earthquake.^[5]

Ayushmann Khurrana is an Indian Television anchor and Actor. He has been a well-known TV presenter on Indian Television and has recently entered Indian Film Industry with the popular film Vicky Donor.

Ayushmann Khurrana is a native of Chandigarh. He studied at St. John’s High School and DAV College in Chandigarh. He majored in English Literature and has done Masters in Mass Communication from School of Communication Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh. He has been active in theatre for 5 years. He was the founder member of DAV College ’s Aaghaaz and Manchtantra , which are active theatre groups in Chandigarh. He has conceptualized and enacted in street plays and won prizes in national fests like- Mood Indigo (IIT Mumbai),Oasis(BITS Pilani) and St. Bedes Simla. He also won a Best Actor award for playing Ashwatthama in Dharamvir Bharati’s Andha Yug.

Ayushmann Khurrana started his career when he turned out to be the winner in MTV Roadies Season 2.^[1] After finishing studies, his first job was a Radio Jockey at BIG FM, Delhi. He hosted the show Big Chai - Maan Na Maan, Main Tera Ayushmann and also won the Young Achievers Award in 2007 for it.^[2] After radio, Ayushmann moved on to become a Video Jockey on MTV with Pepsi MTV Wassup, The Voice of Youngistaan, an informative show for the youth.

He also worked in many other MTV shows as well like MTV Fully Faltoo Movies "Cheque De India" and "Jaadoo Ek Baar".^[3] He then turned as Television Anchor with a multiple-talent based reality show India's Got Talent on Colors TV which he co-anchored with Nikhil Chinapa ^[4] and Stripped which gave latest updates on the Indian TV industry with comic tinge, again on MTV. At the end of the year he was also the anchor of a singing reality show Music Ka Maha Muqqabla on STAR Plus.^[5]

Apart from hosting the second seasons of MTV Rock On on MTV and India's Got Talent on Colors, Ayushmann was also a part of the anchoring team of Extra Innings T20 for Indian Premier League Season 3 on SET Max with Gaurav Kapur, Samir Kochhar and Angad Bedi.^[6][7] Instead of hosting the 3rd season of India's Got Talent, Ayushmann took up the offer of anchoring the dance-based reality show Just Dance on STAR Plus^[8] judged by Hrithik Roshan, Vaibhavi Merchant and Farah Khan.

In 2011, he signed his first major Bollywood venture and began filming. The film was titled Vicky Donor^[9] and directed by Shoojit Sircar. This movie also marks actor John Abraham's debut as a producer.^[10] Vicky Donor released worldwide on 20 April 2012, and was a critical and commercial success.^[11].

Ayushmann also sang a song named Pani Da Rang in the film. In May 2012, it was announced that along with the crew of Vicky Donor, Ayushmann had signed his second Bollywood production as an actor in the film Hamaara Bajaj which is expected to go on floors in 2013.

Ayushmann originally hails from Chandigarh and his family is still based there. His father Mr. P Khurrana, is a renowned astrolger and an author on the subject of astrology, while his mother Poonam is a house wife and a qualified M.A. in Hindi. His brother Aparshaktii is a Radio Jockey at BIG FM Delhi. The ambiance of literature at home influenced Ayushmnann as well and he took to writing as a hobby. He also maintains a blog where he writes in Hindi and it has been received very well by his admirers. He is married to his childhood sweetheart Tahira.

Gauhar Khan (born 23 August 1980, Pune, Maharashtra) is an Indian model, VJ and actress, most known for her prominent role in Ranbir Kapoor starrer, Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year (2009). She is the sister of television actress Nigaar Z Khan. In 2010, she joined the cast of the first-ever Bollywood musical, Zangoora: The Gypsy Prince at Kingdom of Dreams, Gurgaon, where she plays the female lead opposite Hussain Kuwajerwala, along with Kashmira Irani.^[2]

Gauhar Khan was born in Pune, Maharashtra. She is the sister of Indian television actress, Nigaar Z. Khan. She completed her schooling from Mount Carmel Convent High School Lullanagar, Pune.

Gauhar has stated that she is a believing Muslim and stated "My belief in my religion teaches me that there is one God and one God alone. I also believe at some point in my life, everything that Islam teaches or expects their people to do, I’ll be able to do.^[1]

Gauhar Khan started off with appearances in a couple of music videos. ^[3] She has anchored the film gossip show Page 3 on Zoom Television.^[4] Recently she had participated in a popular celebrity dance show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa where she ended up as the runner up. She has also acted in a supporting role in Ishaqzaade(2012).

Gauhar Khan along with her sister Nigar Khan appeared in a TV show "The Khan Sisters" which was Indian version of "LIVING WITH KARDASHIANS" from west.
