Iping Common - Iping skógur
Iping Woodland in West Sussex, South Downs, England Horft allan hringinn í Iping skógi haustið 2011 Iping Common represent some of the best that this scarce heathland habitat can offer. As rich in atmosphere as it is in wildlife. The commons are a local nature reserve and provide a habitat to a wide range of flora and fauna. They are areas of lowland heath, now thought to be a rarer habitat than tropical rainforest, and many of the animals and plants on the commons are dependant upon the continued existence of this rare habitat. www.westsussex.info It´s in Iping village that great and well known HG Wells story The Invisible Man begins. Iping Common is managed by the Sussex Wildlife Trust and you can see birds like the nightjar, dartford warbler and stonechat as well as a whole host of weird and wonderful insects and beetles. en.wikipedia.org

Sark April 22nd, EARTHDAY 2011, THE FILM THEY DID NOT WANT YOU TO SEE.
Sark's biodiversity is being ripped out to make room for another vanity vineyard Sark is burning on Good Friday 22nd of April 2011 (Earth Day) nesting season. On the field where the first Sark Folk Festival was staged a huge area of ancient gorse is being ripped from the ground and burned, nesting birds and butterflies are fleeing. Skylarks (a protected bird elsewhere) were nesting in this field which was also full of blooming wildflowers and insects. The people responsible for this act of environmental vandalism are the Barclay Brothers' Sark Estate Management team. The land owners were phoned and asked to stop but the response was ignored and more men and a machine with an Eco sticker on it were sent to continue the clearing! It lasted for 6 days. After the BBC were alerted SEM made a statement in which Sark Estate Management admitted they made a mistake in ripping up and clearing away gorse and bracken in the middle of spring they said that they only burned noxious weeds but it it clear to see in the above film that gorse is being burned. The wildflower fields were cleared and planted with a vineyard. There are no laws on Sark to stop this at the moment and its high time laws were brought in as this is not the only grazing land being changed to vineyard and it is understood that more are planned. Gorse is not a noxious plant but a valuable plant for wildlife, providing dense thorny cover ideal for protecting birds nests. In Britain, France and Ireland, it is ...

National Trust-End of The Road
For 200 years, the Hindhead commons and the Devil's Punchbowl, in Surrey have been divided by the A3 dual carriageway. In August 2011 the A3 tunnel works were completed and the process to remove the old road began. This photofilm charts the regeneration of this area of natural beauty, documenting the views of various stakeholders; highlighting the habitat renewal for endangered wildlife species like the silver-studded blue butterfly and the Dartford Warbler. The notorious A3 at Hindhead was known for its traffic congestion and its accidents, but now with the removal of this once divisive route, the public can visit the area and freely walk between the two properties, as can local wildlife build their habitats unhindered.

Dartford Warbler at Pride Park, Derby
The Sanctuary bird reserve was set up in 2004 to protect Derby's rarest breeding birds. (eg Little ringed plover, skylark, lapwing, sand martin, reed bunting). In Feb 2005, just as £85000 of viewing platforms and habitat creation work was about to start, this little bird turned up. It was only the second Dartford Warbler seen in Derbyshire in over 150 years, and stayed for six weeks. It helped to demonstrate that the creation of The Sanctuary had been justified. The site is intentionally bare - it is designed to be attractive to ground-nesting birds, not to people. But now in May 2011 there are concerns that plans for a Velodrome may involve destruction of part or all of this Local Nature Reserve. We await confirmation from Derby City Council as to the precise extent of the footprint of the Multi-Sports Arena before deciding whether we need to launch a campaign to protect this key biodiversity site in the heart of Derby.
