New technology is constantly being developed that makes vehicles more communicative with the road. In our efforts to separate the good from the great when it comes to new cars, SUVs and trucks, we have begun putting several of our Technology of the Year nominees to the test. So far, some of our judges have evaluated BMW's Light Spot and ConnectedDrive, OnStar FMV, and Ford's new iteration of Sync and MyFord Touch. While we are testing, though, there is more saber rattling from the Federal government about severely limiting in-car tech that connects the driver with smartphone functions. Even we admit we aren't sure it's a good thing to have Facebook newsfeeds piped through to the driver.

The challenge continues.
