Kris Jenner single-handedly SEALED THE DEAL to make Khloe Kardashian the new co-host on "X Factor" ... right when negotiations were on the verge of imploding ... TMZ has learned.
Sources connected to the deal tell us ... negotiations had come to a grinding halt because E! and FOX couldn't seem to work out a deal that would allow Khloe to appear on both networks.
We're told "X Factor" was getting ready to pull the plug on talks with Khloe ... when Kris Jenner got word of the hold up and decided to take the bull by the horns.
Sources say Kris "stepped in over the agents ... over everyone" and forced both networks to sit down with her and hash out a deal ... which they eventually did.
As one source puts it, "She just knows how to make sh*t happen."
We broke the story ... Khloe and Mario Lopez have both signed on as co-hosts ... and are expected to make their debut on the show in November.
Mel Gibson has a brand new lady friend and she's TOUGH AS NAILS ... with a brown belt in karate ... and a serious penchant for danger ... TMZ has learned.

Derek Jeter made the RIGHT MOVE by trusting his busted ankle to Dr. Robert Anderson ... so says two NFL superstars who tell TMZ Anderson was able to bring them back from some MAJOR foot injuries.
We spoke with Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub ... who went under Anderson's knife over the summer to repair Lisfranc injury (displaced bones) in his right foot.
Schaub tells us ... "Jeter is in great hands ... Dr. Anderson is the best in the business at what he does."
In fact, Schaub says Anderson exceeded his expectations when it came to recovery time -- "Everything was on schedule, and even ahead of schedule."
Schaub also had some words of wisdom for DJ -- "[Jeter] should follow all procedures that he's told and don't worry about anything ... [he] will be even better after the procedure than he was before going in.”
New York Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw says he also owes his career to Dr. Anderson -- telling TMZ the doc was able to treat him for multiple foot injuries ... and he hasn't lost a step.
"I had the greatest experience ... his staff around him is top of the line ... but to have the best doctor in the world, it's even more comforting."
So far, the extent of Jeter's ankle injury is unclear -- and it's unclear if he'll require surgery.
Dr. Paul Nassif has been a prominent member of an anti-domestic violence charity for years, TMZ has learned -- and he's even been invited to a big event THIS WEEK ... despite allegations he beat his wife Adrienne Maloof.
Organizers of the Face to Face charity in NYC emailed Nassif this week to confirm his attendance at the event. The charity offers victims of domestic abuse free reconstructive surgery ... and Nassif, a well-known plastic surgeon, has been on the executive committee for years.
In fact, we've learned Nassif was honored with Adrienne just last year at the charity's 9th annual benefit for the couple's "ongoing commitment to improving the lives of victims of domestic violence."
It's pretty crazy ... considering Nassif's invitation to this week's event was confirmed AFTER Adrienne accused him of beating her and attacking their children.
We're told Nassif definitely plans to attend ... without Adrienne, of course.

The judge in Halle Berry's custody case -- in which she is asking for permission to take Nahla to Paris permanently -- is ready to rule, and the decision could come down this week ... TMZ has learned.
Sources connected to the case tell us ... lawyers for both sides have wrapped their case and the judge has been noodling over his decision.
Sources say the judge has told both sides, he does NOT want to send them a written decision. He wants both sides to appear in court so he can tell them all at once what he's decided.
Halle, we're told, is frustrated because she wants to get on with her life, but it looks like she won't have a long wait. Our sources say the decision could come down Friday -- IF the judge can get everyone together.
It took long enough ... but UFC champ Jon "Bones" Jones will finally do battle with his longtime verbal tormentor Chael Sonnen ... both in the ring AND as opposing coaches on "The Ultimate Fighter."
UFC President Dana White announced the fight earlier today ... confirming the two will face off on April 27. Additionally, the two will serve as coaches to up-and-coming fighters on the FX reality show "The Ultimate Fighter."
Sonnen has been harassing the hell out of Jones for weeks ... ever since Jon refused to allow Chael to step in as a replacement fighter for a Sept. 1 fight when Jon's originally scheduled opponent dropped out due to injury at the last minute.
Chael proceeded to run a campaign of harassment on Twitter ... sending a flurry of messages to Jon ... including, "I know you will never fight me. Don't be afraid. But I'll always be the monster in the closet of your mind, little JJ."

4:00 PM PT -- Franco just pled "not guilty." He's due back in court later this month.
The man who allegedly broke into Frances Bean Cobain's L.A. house is a homeless man who was doing laundry when he was discovered ... this according to police.
The LAPD says the suspect is 22-year-old transient Marc James Franco -- who's been charged with 1st degree burglary for entering Frances' pad on October 13.
Cops say Frances was out of town when Franco entered the home -- and was discovered by a relative who went to the pad to care for Cobain's dog.
Franco allegedly told the relative he was a friend of Cobain's -- but the relative didn't buy it and called police.
If convicted, Franco faces up to 6 years in state prison.
Kate Gosselin has just been FIRED from her job as a coupon blogger ... after her boss decided the ex-reality star was no longer a "good fit" for the company.
Gosselin has been working for CouponCabin.com -- dishing out advice to bargain hunters. But today, Founder & CEO Scott Kluth posted an open letter on his website announcing Kate had been sacked.
In the letter, Kluth explains ... "A series of recent events have made it clear to me that Kate Gosselin and her contributions do not align with the authenticity which we set out to build almost a decade ago."
