Electrolysis Of Water
Check us out at www.tutorvista.com One important use of electrolysis of water is to produce hydrogen. 2 H2O(l) → 2 H2(g) + O2(g); E0 = +1.229 V Hydrogen can be used as a fuel for powering internal combustion engines by combustion or electric motors via hydrogen fuel cells (see Hydrogen vehicle). This has been suggested as one approach to shift economies of the world from the current state of almost complete dependence upon hydrocarbons for energy (See hydrogen economy.) The energy efficiency of water electrolysis varies widely. The efficiency is a measure of what fraction of electrical energy used is actually contained within the hydrogen. Some of the electrical energy is converted to heat, a useless byproduct. Some reports quote efficiencies between 50% and 70%. This efficiency is based on the Lower Heating Value of Hydrogen. The Lower Heating Value of Hydrogen is total thermal energy released when hydrogen is combusted minus the latent heat of vaporisation of the water. This does not represent the total amount of energy within the hydrogen, hence the efficiency is lower than a more strict definition. Other reports quote the theoretical maximum efficiency of electrolysis as being between 80% and 94%. The theoretical maximum considers the total amount of energy absorbed by both the hydrogen and oxygen. These values refer only to the efficiency of converting electrical energy into hydrogen's chemical energy. The energy lost in generating the electricity is not included ...

The Difference Between Laser Hair Removal and Electrolysis [DermTV.com EPi #298]
There are several different options for facial hair removal, but other than generally shaving, the two most popular types are electrolysis and laser hair removal. In this episode of DermTV, Dr. Schultz explains the difference between laser hair removal and electrolysis. DermTV.com Connect with DermTV www.facebook.com www.twitter.com Everyonecan have beautiful, healthy, and younger looking skin, and DermTV, the Internet's daily skincare video show, will demonstrate how by revealing expert tips and techniques and by providing real solutions for real skincare issues. Skincare (whether cosmetic or medical) previously required a trip to your dermatologist or a shopping spree at the pharmacy. And that's if you have a trusted nearby dermatologist or a local informed pharmacy. But not anymore. We at DermTV are committed to making best-in-class dermatology and skincare guidance accessible to everyone, anytime, at your computer. Every weekday, our host, Dr. Neal Schultz, one of New York's most trusted and respected dermatologists (see bio below), teaches skincare's most timely and timeless issues. Topics include: the best at home techniques and new technology for facial rejuvenation, preventing and fixing sun damage from wrinkles to skin cancer, breaking news in dermatology, general skincare topics, and more.

www.affordable-laser-hair-removal.com ...Check out this short 30 second video of me doing electrolysis on a woman's side face. Electrolysis involves inserting a sterilized needle into each hair follicle, at which point an electrical current is delivered to the base of the follicle, thus destroying the hair growth cells.

Body Hair Removal
2008
approx. 5 minutes
Humans love hair - on the top of their heads, that is - hair on their bodies, well that's more complicated.
This short documentary takes a close-up look at all aspects of body hair removal for both sexes, revealing the down-low on current trends from manscaping to brazillians. A variety of methods are demonstrated and explained including plucking, shaving, waxing, sugaring, chemical depilation, electrolysis and mechanical epilation.

Colorful Water Electrolysis
In my class students learn about chemical reactions and also the difference between elements and compounds. Students learn that the 5 signs of a chemical reaction are: 1) color change 2) gas production 3) precipitation 4) temperature change 5) change in properties (smell, texture, taste, density, etc.) Students also learn that compounds are chemicals that have 2 or more elements bonded together, such as water. In this demonstration, students can observe the compound water undergo a chemical reaction, and break apart into hydrogen and oxygen gas. This demonstration can be done on an overhead projector so that all students can view it easily. ScienceFix.com Producer: Darren Fix
