Desiccant Filter Demonstration
Desiccant Filter Demonstration
A desiccant filter is the best way to keep moisture from reaching your high speed engraving or micro sandblasting units. The desiccant pulls all of the moisture out of the air, before it has a chance to reach your equipment. The desiccant beads are re-useable and last a very long time. This is a great investment to protect your engraving or sandblasting equipment.

Reduce AC Costs by 35% with a Desiccant Wheel (www.SkyHighRoof.com)
Reduce AC Costs by 35% with a Desiccant Wheel (www.SkyHighRoof.com)
skyhighroof.com Dave Moye from SkyHigh Siding & Roofing confronts a question clients often ask him What is the easiest way to reduce air conditioning & heating costs? New technology like the desiccant system allows us to easily dehumidify the air within the home to a relative humidity of about 50%. A Desiccant wheel system heats indoor air slightly (drying it out), and then drops it back into the home cooler and dryer. By reducing the humidity of the air, the constant need for the ac or the heat to come on will be eliminated. The desiccant wheel system has been shown to take rooms with temperatures of about 82 degrees and cool them down to a comfortable 74 degrees. Bringing your home to relative humidity can also reduce many allergy and asthma symptoms, lessening the need for emergency inhalers and allergy pills. Excess moisture in your home can increase the spread of mold, mildew, and many other allergens which can pose health problems. Controlling the level of moisture in your home is the key to preventing these. Relax in complete comfort indoors, no matter what is happening outdoors, with a desiccant system.

Hydrosorbent SG-450 Silica Gel Desiccant Dehumidifier
Hydrosorbent SG-450 Silica Gel Desiccant Dehumidifier
Hi, Dye the Safe Guy here to talk about the SG-450 Hydrosorbent dehumidifier. This box weighs about a pound or so. Measures 7" tall by 4" wide. www.safeandvaultstore.com Can be used for safes 1 cubic feet all the way up to 33 cubic feet. The way this works is it has special silica gel crystals, really high quality, that absorb the moisture and maintain 65% relative humidity inside of your safe. For gun safes it keeps the barrels from pitting for shotguns and rifles. For regular safes it keeps paperwork from getting moldy or grandmas bible from getting deteriorated especially if it's an old bible. So we recommend a $25.00 dehumidifier for every 1 cubic foot to 33 cubic foot safe that you have. The nice thing about this it has on the bottom here, the blue dots. They turn red when the silica gel crystals are full of moisture. So you just take this. You put it in your oven for 3 hours at 250 degrees. It recharges them and everything is great. Silica gel is non-toxic, EPA approved and this $25.00 item has a lifetime warranty. So, as long as you own your safe, you keep this in there and you'll keep the humidity low.

Zn0 CELL DESICCANT CHAMBER 30 HOURS
Zn0 CELL DESICCANT CHAMBER 30 HOURS
This Video shows the resultant test of voltage of a mini cell after 30 hours exposure to a desiccant chamber filled with Silica gel and Molecular sieve material. Note an over all loss of 0.4 grams water. Surface area of desiccant exceeds internal surface area of cell. Exophytic ZnO crystals seen exogenous to cell. Voltage read after desiccation. To be sure, any latent moisture that has not been absorbed by the desiccant is INTRINSICALLY CAPTURED IN THE CRYSTAL LATTICE. The only way to drive the residual water molecules from the crystal lattice at this point would be HEAT, or DEEP VACUUM. This cell IS NOT ACTING GALVANICALLY AT THIS POINT. I CONSIDER THIS THE SECOND STAGE FUNCTIONALITY OF THESE CELLS. ALL THOUGHTS WELCOME. Very Best Regards, diveflyfish

Desiccant: Cat Litter As A Cheap Desiccant For Gun Storage
Desiccant: Cat Litter As A Cheap Desiccant For Gun Storage
Remix of an old video that had 1 vote up and 1 vote down. I assume it was the music that was disliked so I found what must be Lucifer himself on guitar instead of his normal golden fiddle. ---------- Update: Mold has not returned after using this cat litter as a desiccant. Was coming back every couple weeks prior to usage. Mold free from Early Oct 2011 to NOW. The basement is still wet, but the closet is dry. A layer of plastic was placed on the floor as a vapor barrier between it and the basement. Due to the vapor barrier and the cat litter desiccant the white mold that had been growing on my gun's wooden surfaces is GONE and has NOT returned. --------------- I have found MOLD on my guns (the wood of them anyway) likely due to moisture from my basement. The gun closet shown here only has a few inches of wood separating it from the basement below. I did some research on the internet and found some potential solutions from various gun forums. Surprisingly CGN and Youtube were not among the sites that I found anything useful so I figured I'd toss this video up to youtube. In the gun forums cleaning the wood stocks with lemon oil to get rid of the mold was suggested so I did that. I also cleaned out the interior walls and surfaces of the gun closet with bleach and water to kill mold spores. Following this I used CAT LITTER- silica gel based, as a desiccant. This was placed into socks but any material that will hold the crystals and permits air to pass through will work. I am ...
