The Tams are an American vocal group from Atlanta, Georgia, who enjoyed their greatest chart success in the 1960s, and the 1970s, and most improbably in the 1980s. Two separate lineups of the group continue to perform and record. One lineup, called 'The Original Tams with R. L. Smith', features original member Robert Lee Smith, and the other lineup is under the leadership of Charles Pope, the brother of co-founder Joe Pope.
The band formed in 1960, and took their name from the Tam o'shanter hats they wore on stage. By 1962, they had a hit single on Arlen Records. "Untie Me", a Joe South composition, became a Top 20 on the Billboard R&B chart. The follow-up releases largely failed until 1964, when "What Kind of Fool (Do You Think I Am)", reached the Top 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100. The song spent three weeks at number one on the Cash Box R&B chart. Many of their popular hits were written by Ray Whitley.
"Hey Girl Don't Bother Me" was also a modest US hit the same year. The Tams had only one further major US hit (in 1968) when "Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy", peaked at #26 on the US R&B chart, and subsequently made the UK Top 40 in 1970.

Victoria Louise "Pixie" Lott (born 12 January 1991) is an English singer, songwriter and actress. Her debut single, "Mama Do (Uh Oh, Uh Oh)", was released in June 2009 and went straight to number one in the UK Singles Chart. Her second single, "Boys and Girls", also topped the UK chart in September 2009.
Lott's debut album, Turn It Up, was released in September 2009. It reached number six on the UK Albums Chart, spawned five consecutive top twenty singles, and sold over 1.5 million copies.
Lott's second album, Young Foolish Happy, was released on 14 November 2011. The lead single, "All About Tonight", debuted atop the UK Singles Chart, becoming her third UK number-one hit. The album also produced the top ten singles "What Do You Take Me For?" and "Kiss the Stars".
Her self-titled third studio album was released on 1 August 2014. Its lead single "Nasty" released on 7 March 2014 peaked at number nine on the UK Singles Chart, making it her sixth Top 10 single in the United Kingdom.
Young Foolish Happy is the second studio album by English recording artist Pixie Lott, released on 11 November 2011 by Mercury Records. Lott enlisted previous collaborators Mads Hauge, Phil Thornalley, Toby Gad, Steve Kipner and Andrew Frampton to handle production for the album, in addition to new collaborators such as Tim Powell, The Matrix and Rusko. The album also includes collaborations with artists such as Stevie Wonder and John Legend.
Upon its release, Young Foolish Happy was met with mixed reviews from music critics; while some reviewers found the album solid, others viewed it as formulaic and short of originality, and felt it lacks the "charm" of Lott's debut album, Turn It Up (2009). The album debuted at number eighteen on the UK Albums Chart with first-week sales of 18,503 copies, failing to match the commercial success of its predecessor. It spawned the UK number-one single "All About Tonight" and the top ten singles "What Do You Take Me For?" and "Kiss the Stars".
Be Happy may refer to:
Pacific Division, better known as Pac Div is a rap trio composed of two brothers, Like and Mibbs, longtime friend, BeYoung and in-house producer Swiff D. Based in Southern California, Pac Div started rapping together in high school. Originally an eleven-member crew, they shrank to three in 2005 when it became apparent that a group with that many members just wasn’t feasible.
Pac Div's first mixtape, Sealed for Freshness: The Blend Tape, along with their first video, F.A.T Boys, was released in 2006 to critic acclaim. Focusing on their lives as regular, young men growing up in Southern California, their music resonated with kids from all walks of life. From hipster to hood, there was something everyone could relate to in their sound. This universal appeal was the catalyst for their success and garnered them the real estate in numerous famed magazines, including Billboard, Rolling Stone, The Source, VIBE and XXL. It also gained the approval of hip-hop hotshots Ludacris, ?uestlove, Pharrell Williams, Talib Kweli, 9th Wonder and more. Their continued success drew international attention as they opened for big names like Nas, Q-Tip, Busta Rhymes, Ice-T, Ludacris and N.E.R.D.
The Tams continue as one of the longest lasting music acts that has continued it's success with new hits to go with it's list of gold and platinum records. The R&B; success is still secondary to the SHOW The Tams put on for their fans. Add to that, the guys are compassionate not just about music, but their community. The Tams have had four #1 songs at the national, and international levels, as well as major regional hits: What Kind of Fool - #1 R& B / #6 Top 40 (1963) - This was The Tams first national hit record, bringing them into the households of millions through a tremendous amount of airplay. Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy - #26 Top 40 (1968) - This song is The Tams' greatest US Chart success, selling over 1,000,000 copies and becoming their only RIAA Certified Gold Record si...

I remember sitting back 'cause you said you had something to say
You told me that you had a secret, yeah yeah
Promised to keep it safe
I kept it for you
And we talked and we laughed and we sat in the car watched the world go past
I tried to dissuade you but you made up your mind
You were wise at 17
And there was nothing I could do and there was nothing I could say
I didn't know why you asked me your gonna do it anyway
Everybody makes mistakes ooh and everybody feels the same
There was nothing I could do and there was nothing I could say
They said we grown up to fast, that we acted young and foolishly
I keep all this in mind when I recall the time
I have to disagree, and be here for you
Oooh and we talked and laughed and we sat in the park and watched the world go past
I tried to dissuade you but you know what your like
You were wise at 17
And there was nothing I could do and there was nothing I could say
I didn't know why you asked me your gonna do it anyway
Everybody makes mistakes ooh and
Everybody feels the same
There was nothing I could do and there was nothing I could say
Birds in the tree sing a song for me
About being young and foolish and naive
I haven't changed that much from what I see
I was only trying to make things right
And there was nothing I could do and there was nothing I could say
I didn't know why you asked me your gonna do it anyway
Everybody makes mistakes ooh and everybody feels the same
There was nothing I could do and there was nothing I could say
