Delft University of Technology exchange and freemovers
TU Delft offers a wide variety of courses and modules to foreign students. As an exchange student or a free mover you can follow part of a Bachelor or Master programme. Please note that the Bachelor programmes are taught in Dutch, except for Aerospace Engineering which is available in English. Exchange students are students participating in a Socrates-Erasmus programme, or students from a university that has a bilateral agreement with TU Delft (partner university). Exchange students are 'non-degree' students, which means that they do not receive an academic degree or a diploma. The study period at TU Delft is part of the study at the home university; credits gained at TU Delft are transferable.

Portable Large Interactive Display Concept
This is a video showing some aspects of the results of my graduation project.
What you see here is a portable device which enables users to transform any bright flat surface into a large interactive touch screen.
For my master thesis at the Faculty of Industrial Design at the University of Technology in Delft I developed a portable system which allows users to create a 60inch multi-touch projection at virtually any flat surface. The concept featured a suitcase containing all the necessary components to create an interactive surface on a flat bright table.
An application is developed to support users in the building industry in performing ad-hoc meetings where large scale building plans can be projected and discussed on a meeting table.
This is still a concept, an actual product can be much smaller and refined. Stay tuned for a more better presentation of the concept.

Design and business can no longer be thought of as distinct activities with individual goals. Design the New Business is a film dedicated to investigating how designers and businesspeople are working together in new ways to solve the wicked problems facing business today.
The short documentary examines how they are joining forces by bringing together an international collection of design service providers, education experts and businesses that have incorporated design as a part of their core approach. Design the New Business features inspiring case studies and insightful discussions, helping to illustrate the state of the relationship and how it needs to continue evolving to meet tomorrow's challenges.
This film is a Zilver Innovation initiative, and was created by 6 students from the Master in Strategic Product Design at the TU Delft in The Netherlands.
Zilver Innovation is now offering workshops that explore this relationship in more depth and the implications for practitioners. For more information, visit our website:

TEDxAmsterdam: Wubbo Ockels
Prof. dr. Wubbo J. Ockels is a Dutch physicist, and also the Netherlands' original astronaut. He is a Professor of Aerospace Sustainable Engineering and Technology at the University of Delft, and tries to stimulate a mentality change among Dutch citizens.
In his mind-bending TEDxAmsterdam talk, Ockels explains how ‘time’ is created by human beings, as a way our brains can make sense of gravity. The speed of light is constant, because it is made by us: it’s the clock by which we have calibrated our existence. Based on this premise, Ockels proposes a new way to explore life in our galaxy.

Tetris for Buildings - November 1995 - Two Thousand Square Meter Of Tetris (23.94M)
The Electrical Engineering Student Association ETV celebrated in November 1995 its ninetieth anniversary and used this huge stunt to op its anniversary year. The World largest Tetris Game on a building and of course on the internet. People all over the world could play the game Tetris by using a simple telnet session and all the West of Holland could watch what they were doing on this building. At the same time the Telecom Student Club of ETV used a GSM telephone and a laptop to put every 10 seconds a picture on the Web. So this way you could see the crowd in front of the building watching the game you were playing. ... On a 96meters high building, we used 15 floors and each floor had 10 rooms. So we created a huge billboard of more than 2000m2

Delft
Delft is a city and municipality in the province of South Holland (Zuid-Holland), the Netherlands. It is located in between Rotterdam and The Hague. Delft is primarily known for its typically Dutch town centre (with canals); also for the painter Vermeer, Delft Blue pottery (Delftware), the Delft University of Technology, and its association with the Royal Family. The city dates from the 13th century. It received its charter in 1246. The association of the House of Orange with Delft began when William of Orange (Willem van Oranje), nicknamed William the Silent (Willem de Zwijger), took up residence in 1572. William was the leader at the time in the struggle against the Spanish, the Eighty Years' War. Delft was one of the leading cities of Holland and was equipped with the necessary city walls to serve as a headquarters. When William was shot to death in 1584 by Balthazar Gerards in the hall of the Prinsenhof, the family's traditional burial place in Breda was in the hands of the Spanish. Therefore, he was buried in the Nieuwe Kerk (New Church), starting a tradition for the House of Orange that has continued to the present day.
